Psycho gerontology perspectives: the effect of covid-19

El presente trabajo se enmarca en el área temática: Investigación y desarrollo de dispositivos sobre la situación de pandemia. Tenemos como propósito, por un lado transmitir cómo funcionan habitualmente los talleres del programa UPAMI destinado a personas mayores. Por otro lado, nos interesa compartir reflexiones sobre el rol como talleristas en la situación de emergencia sanitaria por el COVID-19. Partimos de considerar la actividad de los talleres como una práctica educativa y social. Como tal, implica un movimiento que genera una multiplicidad y diversidad de prácticas que remite a una heterogeneidad ideológica, metodológica y de fines y alcances educativos. Es por ésto que lo consideramos como un proceso continuo de renovación, innovación y expansión. Resaltamos la dimensión innovadora y creativa de los dispositivos en tiempos de pandemia, como lo son los grupos de aprendizaje y talleres de reflexión en los que participan las personas mayores. Del trabajo desarrollado a lo largo de este tiempo, nos interrogamos: ¿qué se genera en los grupos de pares que motiva la continuidad del espacio? ¿la virtualidad opera como obstáculo o como posibilitadora de encuentro?, ¿cómo re-dimensionamos nuestro rol considerando la subjetividad de época?This work belongs to the thematic area: Research and development of devices on the pandemic situation. Our purpose is on one hand to communicate how the workshops usually operate at UPAMI Program. On the other hand, we are interested in sharing reflections on the role as workshop leaders in the health emergency situation by COVID-19. We start from considering the activity of the workshops as an educational and social practice. This implies a movement that generates a multiplicity and diversity of practices that refers to an ideological, methodological heterogeneity and educational aims. This is why we consider it as a continuous process of renewal, innovation and expansion. We emphasize the innovative and creative dimension of the devices in pandemic times, such as learning groups and reflection workshops in which older people participate. From the work done this time, we ask ourselves: what is generated in the peer groups that motivates the continuity of the workshops? Does the virtuality operate as an obstacle or as an enabler of the encounters? Temporality, pandemic and isolation construction in real time of a new event

La presente ponencia tiene como objetivo presentar algunos hallazgos obtenidos en relación a la Investigación I + D “Tiempo y temporalidad en los procesos de envejecimiento. Vicisitudes del proyecto identificatorio en personas mayores de La Plata y Gran La Plata”. En los tiempos atravesados por la pandemia y el aislamiento social nos propusimos conocer a través de la propia palabra de las personas mayores aspectos de su vincularidad, su vida cotidiana y fundamentalmente la dimensión de futuro en un tiempo transformado debido al contexto epidemiológico. Tomaremos entonces aquellas respuestas relacionadas con el eje “Tiempo/temporalidad” para inferir los efectos psicológicos en el marco del ASPO, en lo que hace a la construcción de la subjetividad en tiempo real. Hay que destacar, que los datos obtenidos nos permiten inferir las dimensiones de la estructuración psíquica entre el orden y el desorden, la intervención del azar y el determinismo (Hornstein, 1994) como pilares para comprender el modo en que el psiquismo se autoorganiza, complejizándose con nuevas representaciones y sentidos de la realidad, conceptualizando a la estructura psíquica como abierta, compleja y heterogénea. Los tiempos actuales atravesados por una pandemia de carácter mundial, significada como situación inédita o novedosa, puede implicar un exceso para el sujeto con implicancias en la organización psíquica, en donde se evidencian las modalidades singulares y subjetivas de transitar esto novedoso. El foco está puesto en una nueva forma de reorganizar el tiempo y las actividades, buscando indagar y conocer cómo los envejecentes subjetivizan este tiempo real, inédito e inexorable de la pandemia por Covid-19.The objective of this dissertation is to present some research results obtained in I+D “Time and temporality in aging processes. Vicissitudes of the identification project in elderly people in La Plata and Greater La Plata”. In times crossed by the pandemic and social isolation, we made it our purpose to know through the speech of the elderly, the aspects of their relationship, their daily life and, fundamentally, the future dimension in a time transformed due to the epidemiological context. We will take those responses related to the "Time / temporality" axis to infer the psychological effects in the framework of the ASPO, in relation to the construction of subjectivity in real time. The obtained data allow us to infer the dimensions of the psychic structuring between order and disorder, the intervention of chance and determinism (Hornstein, 1994) as pillars to understand the way in which the psychism organizes itself, becoming more complex with new representations and senses of reality, conceptualizing the psychic structure as open, complex and heterogeneous. The current time traversed by a global pandemic, signified as an unprecedented or novel situation, may imply an excess for the subject with implications in the psychic organization, where the unique and subjective modalities of going through this novel are evidenced. The focus will be on a new way of reorganizing time and activities, seeking to investigate and learn how the elderly subjectivize this real, unprecedented and inexorable time of the Covid-19 pandemic.Facultad de Psicologí

Old age, transubjectivity and advertisements: current sense productions

En el marco del proyecto de investigación “Función de abuelidad y transmisión intergeneracional en las configuraciones familiares actuales” (UNLP - Facultad de Psicología) este trabajo se propone indagar las producciones de sentido que circulan actualmente en nuestro medio social respecto a vejez y abuelidad. En esa dirección se analizaron, a la luz de ciertas conceptualizaciones teóricas, algunas representaciones que circulan actualmente en el imaginario social sobre estos conceptos, tomando como “observables” diversas publicidades audiovisuales; en tanto productos de los medios masivos de comunicación. Se entiende a estos últimos desde su función como productores y reproductores de sentido con una fuerte incidencia en la construcción de subjetividades. Las conclusiones extraídas giran en torno a la presencia de una representación del viejo que refuerza los estereotipos deficitarios y asimilan la función de abuelidad a la vejez sin establecer distinciones. Se destaca también los intereses de consumo a los que responden las publicidades, consignando con ellos ideales de época que limitan los modos de significar y vivir “las vejeces”.Within the framework of the investigation project “Function of grandparenting and intergenerational transmission in current family configurations” (UNLP - School of Psychology) this paper aims at delving into the sense production of our society with regard to old age and grandparenting. For such purpose, and in the light of certain theoretical conceptualizations, we analyzed some representations of these concepts which currently circulate the social imaginary. This was carried out through the observation of several audiovisual advertisements as products of the mass media, which are rendered herein as sense producers with a strong role in the creation of subjectivity. The resulting conclusions orbit a representation of the elderly which strengthens the negative stereotypes and merges grandparenting to old age without making any distinction whatsoever. The consumption interests to which these advertisements respond are also highlighted, with their underlying ideals of the time which limit the ways in which “the elderly ages” are lived and understood.Facultad de Psicologí

New aging in the current time. Pandemic and reformulation of the future project

Este trabajo se enmarca en proyecto de investigación “Tiempo y temporalidad en los procesos de envejecimiento. Vicisitudes del proyecto identificatorio en personas mayores de La Plata y Gran La Plata” de la UNLP. Uno de los objetivos de esta investigación, es indagar los efectos subjetivos que, el tiempo y la temporalidad tienen sobre la construcción del proyecto identificatorio en personas mayores. Esto se articula con la significación de la edad, los impactos de los prejuicios en la toma de decisiones individuales, y los efectos de las transformaciones corporales en la construcción de la identidad. El contexto actual de pandemia y el consecuente aislamiento obligatorio interroga y complejiza las formulaciones teóricas y metodológicas de la presente investigación. Se toman los aportes teóricos de la psicología, de la filosofía, del psicoanálisis y de las ciencias de la complejidad para dar cuenta del proceso sobre el eje temporalidad y futuro. La metodología a emplear es fundamentalmente cualitativa. Se indagarán los diversos modos en que las personas mayores construyen y formulan sus proyectos identificatorios a partir de considerar las implicancias del tiempo y la temporalidad. Se compartirán los cuestionarios que se diseñaron, y los primeros datos de su implementación en el contexto de pandemia.This work is part of the research project “Time and temporality in aging processes. Vicissitudes of the identification project in older people of La Plata and Gran La Plata”of UNLP. One of the objectives of this research is to investigate the subjective effects that time and temporality have on the construction of the identification project in older people. This articulates with the significance of age, the impacts of prejudice on individual decision-making, and the effects of bodily transformations on identity construction. The current context of the pandemic and the consequent obligatory isolation questions and complexifies the theoretical and methodological formulations of the present investigation. The theoretical contributions of psychology, philosophy, psychoanalysis and the sciences of complexity to account for the process on the temporality and future axis. The methodology to be used is fundamentally qualitative. The different ways in which older people build and formulate their identification projects will be explored, considering the implications of time and temporality. The reserch instruments that were designed will be shared, as well as the first data of their implementation in the context of a pandemic.Facultad de Psicologí

Grandparentage function transmission and current generations family configurations

El presente trabajo se plantea como continuación y profundización de anteriores líneas de trabajo en este campo que se vienen desarrollando desde la Cátedra de Psicología Evolutiva II (Facultad de Psicología de UNLP). Dos líneas de investigación que se han desarrollando hasta la actualidad : (I) las referidas al ejercicio de la parentalidad, y modalidades de la parentalidad en familias diversas y con parejas homosexuales, y (II) las referidas al envejecer en relación a la reformulación del proceso identificatorio y sobre los modos actuales del envejecer y los proyectos de vida, y su relación con el proyecto futuro. A partir de los cuales se han planteado los interrogantes que venimos indagando sobre diferentes organizaciones familiares, cuya configuración se aleja del modelo de familia nuclear tradicional, tanto desde su composición, como desde la diversidad que plantean los grupos familiares con pareja del mismo sexo. Interrogamos acerca de cuáles son los modelos identificatorios en estas nuevas construcciones; cuáles serían las funciones de los ancestros y lugar de la transmisión transgeneracional, en cuanto a garantizar la continuidad de la herencia simbólica. Surge investigar las múltiples funciones constitutivas en las relaciones inter y transgeneracionales en las nuevas configuraciones familiares desde y en la diversidadThis paper poses continuation and deepening of previous lines of work in this field being developed from the Department of Psychology II (Faculty of Psychology UNLP). Two lines of research that have been developed until now: (I) those concerning the exercise of parenthood, and methods of parenting in diverse families and gay couples, and (II) the aforementioned aging in relation to the reformulation of identificatorio process and current modes of aging and life projects, and its relationship to the future project. From whom we have raised the questions we have been asking about different family organizations, whose configuration moves away from the traditional nuclear family model, both its composition and from the diversity posed households with same-sex partner. We questioned about what identifying models are in these new buildings; what are the functions of the ancestors and place of the transgenerational transmission would be in ensuring the continuity of the symbolic heritage. Disruptive in pandemic: symbolizing and representational investment movements in the elderly

El presente trabajo tiene por objetivo trasmitir cuestiones nodales del Proyecto de Investigación Tiempo y temporalidad en los procesos de envejecimiento: Vicisitudes del proyecto identificatorio, hace referencia a sus fundamentos teóricos/metodológicos y a la vez, pretende compartir hallazgos de los datos preliminares obtenidos. Cabe señalar que durante el año 2020 y lo que va del presente año, hemos efectuado los cambios necesarios para poder llevar adelante el trabajo de campo por las razones de público conocimiento. El año pasado en el marco del XVII Congreso de investigación y práctica profesional, presentábamos la mencionada investigación y el reordenamiento que el equipo realizó a efectos de la pandemia por COVID 19. En aquel momento el objetivo de nuestra exposición fue poner en contexto una herramienta construida a fin de poder alcanzar a los sujetos a indagar de manera digital. En esta oportunidad estamos en condiciones de transmitir los primeros datos obtenidos de la aplicación del cuestionario a personas mayores junto al análisis de los mismos en el marco de las teorías psicológicas propuestas. Los mismos nos permiten construir reflexiones sobre los modos subjetivos en que los mayores tramitaron la dimensión traumática del hecho disruptivo, y anudaron nuevos proyectos marcados por una nueva temporalidad.The present work aims to transmit central questions of the Research Project Time and temporality in the aging processes: Vicissitudes of the identification project, refers to its theoretical / methodological foundations and at the same time, it intends to share findings of the preliminary data obtained. It should be noted that during 2020 and so far this year, we have made the necessary changes to be able to carry out the field work for reasons of public knowledge. Last year in the framework of the XVII Congress of research and professional practice, we presented the aforementioned research and the reorganization that the team carried out for the purposes of the COVID 19 pandemic. At that time, the objective of our presentation was to put in context a tool built in order to reach the subjects to inquire digitally. On this occasion we are in a position to transmit the first data obtained from the application of the questionnaire to older people together with their analysis within the framework of the proposed psychological theories. They allow us to construct reflections on the subjective ways in which the elderly dealt with the traumatic dimension of the disruptive event, and knotted new projects marked by a new temporality.Facultad de Psicologí
