Optimizing the remeshing procedure by computational cost estimation of adaptive fem technique

    Get PDF
The objective of adaptive techniques is to obtain a mesh which is optimal in the sense that the computational costs involved are minimal under the constraint that the error in the finite element solution is acceptable within a certain limit. But adaptive FEM procedure imposes extra computational cost to the solution. If we repeat the adaptive process without any limit, it will reduce efficiency of remeshing procedure. Sometimes it is better to take an initial very fine mesh instead of multilevel mesh refinement. So it is needed to estimate the computational cost of adaptive finite element technique and compare it with the FEM computational cost. The remeshing procedure can be optimized by balancing these computational costs

IntroductionOne of the complications of HIV infection is greater risk of thromboembolic events. A variety of mechanisms has been found to be responsible for prothrombotic tendency in patients with HIV infection.Case presentationA 27-year-old heterosexual smoker man was referred to our center due to a sudden-onset severe left lower extremity pain and claudication since three days prior to admission. In physical examination, end extremity coldness and discoloration as well as left lower extremity pulselessness were found. Color-Doppler sonography revealed a large thrombus in the left common iliac artery and two thrombi in the distal halves of both anterior and posterior tibialis arteries, so the patient was transferred to the operating room for proximal thrombectomy where the blood flow was reestablished and all pulses were then detectable. Two days later, the patient developed another similar episode from knee down and underwent the second thrombectomy. In evaluation, HIV Ab had positive result by ELISA.ConclusionsThis case inspires consideration of HIV infection as a leading cause of thromboembolic event in individuals affected by the first episode of unprovoked one in whom diagnosis of HIV infection has not been established yet

Geographic Distribution of Authors Contributed to Applied Food Biotechnology (2014-2023)

In this editorial article, nationality of the authors from establishment of Applied Food Biotechnology from 2014 to the present time has been overviewed. The editorial board, especially chief editor, wish to make a broad global audience to spread knowledge of food biotechnology via publication of outstanding articles in this journal. At the beginning of the activity of journal office, a limited number of non-Iranian authors submitted their manuscripts to this journal; however immediately after the publication of the first issue, number of the foreign authors increased further, while they showed their satisfaction with the acceleration in peer-review processes of their manuscripts. From the published articles, probiotics has been the major scope; therefore, screening of the beneficial probiotics from various natural sources and their uses in prevention of diseases have been introduced by various authors. Thus, the most interesting findings of the authors have been introduced; through which, readers are further adapted to the journal priorities and preferences in probiotics and postbiotics. It is believed that invitation of prestigious authors and carrying out rapid peer-review processes are a key success to achieve high article citations and authors’ satisfactions

An overview on the published articles in Applied Food Biotechnology in 2021-2022

Abstract   Applied Food Biotechnology is the first Iranian journal that considers biotechnological aspects of food sciences. As a pioneer, it has grown very fast in recent years and has indexed in reputable international databases such as Web of Sciences and Scopus, other than a national database accredited by the Ministry of Health, Science, Research and Technology of Iran as well as Ministry of Health and Medical Education. Several scientists in Iran and from abroad have been engaged in the journal as author, reviewer, and editorial team member. Applied Food Biotechnology has had impact factor of 1.4 since July 2023. The editorial team have been trying to make a broad audience in the globe and develop annual citations by publication of outstanding articles in the journal. To this regard, more than 80% of submissions have been rejected in the journal in 2023, due to their not-qualified writing, lack of novelty, inappropriate methodology etc. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of manuscripts from outstanding authors were submitted to the journal during 2021-2022. Although, rate of submission was significantly decreased during this period of time, which seems to be related to the post-corona era and the damage to human society during 2020-2021. We are going to help the associated researchers to adhere the novel findings in applied food biotechnology in the world. The expert editorial board invites all professional scientists in the field of food biotechnology to join in the Applied Food Biotechnology journal by submission of original article, review article, meta-analysis and systematic review

Examining the Dimensions of Big Data Privacy (Block Chain Solution for Privacy Protection)

Purpose: In the past, big data was the concern of governments and large commercial industries, and so these organizations had infrastructures separate from the public network to store and process their data. But today, big data is easily accessible to everyone through cloud infrastructure. In recent years, with the explosive development of the Internet, data storage and data processing technologies, privacy has been one of the major concerns in data mining Methodology: In this paper, after examining the dimensions and key components of flax data, privacy in big data; Blockchain solution for privacy protection is examined. Findings: This topic provides new opportunities for researchers in knowledge processing tasks. However, these opportunities often bring challenges as well. Originality/Value: Big Data means a very large database that can be structured or unstructured. Big data is a database that is constantly getting bigger with the increase of information. Also with the rapid advancement of the Internet, data storage and data processing technologies, big data privacy has attracted a lot of attention. Before applying big data technology to mass applications and applications, a basic issue called privacy must be explored

Numerical and analytical simulation of ballistic projectile penetration due to high velocity impact on ceramic target

    Get PDF
Simulation and analysis of the projectile impact and penetration problem and its effects are among the practical topics that can be used to design bulletproof panel and military equipment, construction of impact and penetration resistant structures, design of projectiles with appropriate penetration strength and High performance noted. One of the most important parameters affecting penetration is the impact velocity of the projectile. The mechanism of penetration varies in different speed ranges. In this paper, Ansys Autodyn software is used for intrusion simulation. The simulation carried out in this study is based on the accuracy and physical conditions of the problem and the compatibility of numerical simulation with the governing analytical relationships indicates the validity and accuracy of the assumptions made in the simulation. In this study, we selected materials such as material behavior, grating, contact surfaces, and controls, as well as collision of the blunt projectile with angles of 0º,15º,30º,45º by of high velocity impact 1000 m/s with the same mass and diameter and shape of the projectile nose and properties. Ceramic materials are discussed. The result of the numerical simulation comparison shows relatively good agreement between them

    Nomadologic Ulysses: pounding overseas

A Deleuzian reading of Ezra Pound's the Gypsy and Ulysses by James Joyce is put into practice to link the schizophrenic concept of "nomadology", with diaspora, mysticism, logic, multilingualism, nostalgic inclination towards "change", purgatorial ontology of Adam and Eve before the Fall, and a Protean vision to focus on "capacity" as the sine qua non of "change"

James Joyce’s fine shades of philosophy have been neglected in recent times, especially when it comes to fill either epistemological or ontological lacuna in taxonomy as to whereabouts of his canon. Epistemology and ontology are a couple of the core areas of philosophy. Since mirroring cognitive and post-cognitive questions in postmodern literature may invite a rereading of potential authors, a historiography of "theory of knowledge" and ontological nuances is reviewed in this paper not to represent literary examples, but to mind a hiatus in descriptive poetics. The idea is that Ulysses and Finnegans Wake gesture differently in their philosophical "dominance". Analyzing the philosophical borders of the realm, it is sought to consult with literary critics beside canonical authors who dissected their mind in epistemology just to propound an initial disquisition about a novelist who never wanted his works to be prescribed by simple bounds due to their literary nature. This paper may be useful to those who pursue any link between literature and philosophy, specifically those who are willing to know more about postmodernist philosophical concerns of literature
