ERPA International Congresses on Education 2018This paper refers to the European project Erasmus + ELEF (European Learning Environment Formats for Citizenship and Democracy, Reference number 580426). The aim of this project is to develop, implement, evaluate and replicate democratic and innovative learning environments (good practices) in both educational institutions and informal and community learning environments. In this context, over the course of a year, a number of experiences considered relevant have been selected, which constitute the sample of this research on good practices. This contribution presents the educational programme “Youth Parliament”. This is a project with a long history and whose main objective is to train responsible citizens, with the collaboration of various educational agents. The evaluation carried out by the Secondary Education teachers in training on the potentialities and limitations of the programme is shown, based on the experiences carried out in the participating educational centres during the academic year 2016-2017

Sustainability of Territorial Projects. A Proposal.

    Get PDF
International audienceThis paper review efforts devoted to sustainability over the last years from different points of view. First of all, a conceptualisation and modelling of the concept is presented from a "macro" perspective. Next, some ideas of how sustainability could be implemented in a territory are given. This could be considered the "meso" vision. Finally, the "micro" perspective from the project level is tackled. In this sense, we propose a check list to select projects contributing to sustainability. This proposal is only one aspect for the beginning of a long way

    Get PDF
Dentro dos insaturados, foi elevado o conteúdo de ácidos gordurosos essenciáis= araquidônico (4,34) e família n-3 (EPA=0,76 e DHA=0,57); a esta característica nutritiva positiva se soma o alto conteúdo em CLA (1,87%Agtot).Ten caimans (Caiman latirostris and Caiman yacare) of different length and live weight were slaughtered to assess carcass yield and meat quality traits. Carcass yield was 54% while meat portion was the 62%. The carcass meat/bone ratio was approximately 1,51 while the 6,4% corresponded to the fat depots, mostly visceral depots. The tail cut represented the 27,4% of the carcass weight and it was composed 21,9% by meat and the 5,5% of bone. The meat tail pH postsmortem value (6,88 ±0,22) fell up to 6,49 (±0,23), 24 hs after slaughtering and 5,85 (±0,12) after thawing. Cooking losses were low (<0,3%) and the Warner Bratzler shear force had values lower than 3kg. The raw tail color analyses characterized the meat as luminous (L*= 67,7) and pale (C*= 5,5). While the fat content changed significantly depending on the live weight (2,5-29,8%DM), the protein content was relatively constant and around the 65% of dry matter. From the total intramuscular fatty acid content of tail meat, the 41,4 % were satured, the 39,1% were monounsatured and the 10,7% were polyunsatured, with a n-6/n-3 ratio near the optimum (3,16 vs 4). The oleic acid was the most important FA followed by the palmitic, stearic and linoleic acids. Among the unsatured FA, the levels of essential FA as araquidonic (4,34) and n-3 derived family were important (EPA= 0,76 and DHA= 0,57). Another positive nutritional characteristic was the high level of CLA (1,87%FAtot)

Taking stock of the evolution of the biodiesel industry in Brazil: Business concentration and structural traits

[EN] The Brazilian biodiesel industry has rapidly developed under the National Biodiesel Production and Use Programme (PNPB) launched in 2004, which is to be replaced by a new regulatory framework that is now under discussion. This paper aims to take stock of the evolution of the structure of the biodiesel industry in this country under the implementation of the PNPB -between 2005 and 2016- and to understand its current traits. The research combines a dynamic analysis of the industrial concentration indexes (closing the time gap with previous studies on this matter) and a multivariate analysis of the productive characteristics of the biodiesel plants operating in 2016. Results show that, following a period of de-concentration between 2005 and 2011, the industry entered in a stage of certain stability in the concentration indexes. This picture disguises the exit of biodiesel plants and firms from this market and a number of business acquisitions in the last period. The static analysis has allowed for the identification of different 'business models' regarding the scale of the plants and the diversification/specialisation patterns of both raw materials and outputs. This work was supported by the Capes Foundation - Ministry of Education of Brazil [grant numbers BEX 9604/13-8]. Youth living arrangements and household employment deprivation: evidence from Spain

    Get PDF
We study the role of employment deprivation and severe poverty at the household level on youth living arrangements in Spain in three different business cycle periods. Previous evidence has shown that recessions in Southern European countries make young individuals turn to their families for financial protection. Most analyses assume that these cohabiting decisions are only related to the young individual's employment status while other household members' employment deprivation is irrelevant. We use information from the Quarterly Labour Force Survey between 2005 and 2017 and a very flexible indicator to measure the dimension of employment deprivation at the household level and estimate its role on the probability of being emancipated with a linear probability model. To avoid reverse causation, we also estimate two seemingly unrelated regressions of the probability of cohabiting with parents and the dimension of household employment deprivation. Our results confirm that the Great Recession increased the probability of parental co-habitation, even if with some delay in relation to the business cycle. We reject the assumption about the irrelevance of other household member's employment deprivation on youth cohabitation decisions because its dimension determines them. Policies aiming to improve emancipation should not only increase youth labour market opportunities but provide either more employment hours or more income transfers to those living in households where young individuals live

Active starch-gelatin films for shelf-life extension of marinated salmon

[EN] Biodegradable active films were obtained by casting, using glycerol plasticized oxidized corn starch (OS) and bovine gelatine (BG) blends (1:1 mass ratio), with and without ethyl lauroyl arginate (LAE) as antimicrobial agent (13 g LAE/100 g polymer). Water vapour barrier capacity and colour of the films conditioned at 53 or 88% relative humidity were determined. Both LAE incorporation and high RH promoted film browning, coherently with the progression of Maillard reactions between amino groups of gelatine or LAE and carbonyl groups of oxidized starch. These compounds imparted antimicrobial properties to the films with and without LAE, both exhibiting antilisterial activity in in vitro tests. Packaging of marinated salmon samples in these films greatly reduced the total viable counts, which remained below the legal limit after 45 storage days at 5 degrees C. Nevertheless, films were not effective at controlling weight loss of salmon samples during the cold storage. The authors acknowledge the financial support provided by Ministerio de Economia y Competividad (Projects AGL2013-42989-R and AGL2016-76699-R).
