¿Cómo podemos valorar la preparación de los bibliotecarios?

La desorientación que causa la cambiante realidad en la que actúan los profesionales de la información, principalmente los bibliotecarios, hace necesaria la indagación permanente en su capacitación para enfrentarse a las tareas que les corresponden. A ello viene a contribuir este informe de un proyecto de investigación financiado por Cilip (The Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals) y cuyo objetivo busca identificar las certezas sobre las que se fundamenta la selección adecuada de los profesionales mejor cualificados, por lo tanto, acreditados competencialmente y certificados académicamente, para los diferentes empleos del sector. Las evidencias se identifican, analizan y clasifican a partir de una rigurosa revisión de la correspondiente literatura publicada en inglés

Analysis of the status of the professions of librarian, documentalist and information scientis tin Spain, studying the influence of the curriculum in the labour market. Forty percent of employers believe that graduates should have more knowledge about specific sources of information: legal, economic, health, education, etc. The profession and its programme of studies are poorly understood by society, and the terminological inconsistency between degree titles, the field of knowledge and professional institutions contributes to this problem. The number of graduates in Spain reached its maximum in 2005 (1,727) and this amount has steadily declined, to 667 in 2012

Effects of digital transformation on information activities and competencies

This paper assesses the significance achieved by digital transformation, especially concerning the information sector during the Covid-19 pandemic. Once the concept of digital transformation and its attributes have been established, the paper addresses policy and business initiatives that support this transformation and the prevention of the digital divide. Desarrollo de un sistema de recuperación para entornos de información dinámica : creación de un tesauro de verbos para implementar el estándar ISO/IEC 13250:2000

Se propone un método que permita la construcción automática de Topic Maps (ISO/ICE 12350-2000). Con este objetivo se propone la creación de una clasificación de elementos del lenguaje natural que conduzcan a la identificación semiautomática de determinada association type del Topic Maps. En un primer momento, los tesauros (ISO 2788:1986) serán considerados a efectos de este trabajo como una simplificación de los Topic Maps. La construcción automática de los tesauros será la etapa anterior a la construcción de Topic Maps y servirá para valorar la clasificación de los elementos del lenguaje que aportan semántica.Proyecto financiado por la CICYT (Comisión Interministerial de Ciencia y Tecnología) del Plan General para el Conocimiento. On university programmes and market demand

Two closely related aspects of the information and documentation sector -university education and labour market- are discussed. We consider the equivalencies and transferability of previous courses and degrees for credit towards the Information and Documentation degree, and some possible effects of the new three-year degrees. In relation to the labour market in our sector, we discuss the opacity of our contribution to the digital content economy. Summarized in tables, the most striking results of our analysis of employment and unemployment rates and types of job openings posted in information and documentation in 2014 are presented and discussed
