A geometry for optimizing nanoscale magnetic resonance force microscopy
We implement magnetic resonance force microscopy (MRFM) in an experimental
geometry, where the long axis of the cantilever is normal to both the external
magnetic field and the RF microwire source. Measurements are made of the
statistical polarization of H in polystyrene with negligible magnetic
dissipation, gradients greater than T/m within 100 nm of the magnetic
tip, and rotating RF magnetic fields over 12 mT at 115 MHz. This geometry could
facilitate the application of nanometer-scale MRFM to nuclear species with low
gyro-magnetic ratios and samples with broadened resonances, such as In spins in
quantum dots.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figure
On some models of customer loyalty
EnBusiness databases are sources of information that a company can use together with analyses of business statistics for acquiring knowledge of its own customers. Such large availability of information allows companies to devise new models of market segmentation, customer satisfaction and customer loyalty, which require great amount of data. We investigate the possibility of defining new types of customer loyalty by using strategies of market segmentation and statistical indexes of customer satisfaction
A Classification of the flag-transitive - designs
In this paper, we provide a complete classification of - design
admitting a flag-transitive automorphism group of affine type with the only
exception of the semilinear -dimensional group. Alongside this analysis we
provide a construction of seven new families of such flag-transitive
-designs, two of them infinite, and some of them involve remarkable objects
such as -spreads, translation planes, quadrics and Segre varieties.
Our result together with those Alavi et al. [1,2], Praeger et al. [15], Zhou
and the first author [37,38] provides a complete classification of
- design admitting a flag-transitive automorphism group with the
only exception of the semilinear -dimensional case
On flag-transitive 2-(k^2, k, λ) designs with λ | k
It is shown that, apart from the smallest Ree group, a flag-transitive
automorphism group G of a 2-(k^2, k, λ) design D, with λ | k, is either an affine
group or an almost simple classical group. Moreover, when G is the smallest Ree
group, D is isomorphic either to the 2-(6^2, 6, 2) design or to one of the three 2-
(6^2, 6, 6) designs constructed in this paper. All the four 2-designs have the 36
secants of a non-degenerate conic C of PG(2,8) as a point set and 6-sets of secants
in a remarkable configuration as a block set
