Schizophrenic active neutrinos and exotic sterile neutrinos
We implement a schizophrenic scenario for the active neutrinos in a model in
which there are also exotic right-handed neutrinos making a model with a local
U(1)_(B-L) anomaly free. Two of right-handed neutrinos carry B-L=-4 while the
third one carries B-L=5.Comment: I, A. C. B. Machado, apologize for having submitted the wrong file

Case 4-2001: acute sarcoidosis
To the Editor: the February 8 Case Record involves a patient with Löfgren's syndrome. In his discussion of the case, Dr. Bates does not sufficiently emphasize the importance of the recognition of periarticular ankle inflammation as a particular presenting sign of acute sarcoidosis. In the Nordic countries and Spain, Löfgren's syndrome is the most common form of the disease and frequently starts with periarticular ankle inflammation. In our series of 186 white patients with Löfgren's syndrome, 35 (19 percent) presented with periarticular ankle inflammation alone and 46 (25 percent) had periarticular ankle inflammation in association with erythema nodosum
Sustainable asphalt mixtures by partial replacement of fine aggregates with low-grade magnesium carbonate by-product
The utilisation of large quantities of raw materials for asphalt mixtures manufacturing, such as aggregates, is an environmental issue that must be addressed. This concern has led to valorising waste and by-products as more sustainable alternative raw materials. This research is aimed at evaluating the use of a low-grade magnesium carbonate (LG-MC) by-product as a partial replacement of fine aggregates and as a filler of asphalt mixtures. A mechanical analysis has been performed studying the effect of this by-product on the moisture sensitivity, cracking resistance and cohesion loss resistance of asphalt mixtures. Cracking resistance was assessed under different temperatures (20, 5 and -5 ºC) and conditions (unconditioned and aged). Results indicated that moisture sensitivity and cohesion loss resistance of asphalt mixtures with LG-MC by-product were not affected, obtaining similar results to those of the reference mixture. A protective effect in the mixture cracking resistance was observed using LG-MC. At low temperatures or after ageing, this by-product tends to maintain ductility to a greater extent. The study indicates that LG-MC is suitable as a partial substitute for the fine fraction of aggregates, as well as for the total amount of filler in asphalt mixtures manufacturing for road pavements
Neutrino masses through see-saw mechanism in 3-3-1 models
Some years ago it was shown by Ma that in the context of the electroweak
standard model there are, at the tree level, only three ways to generate small
neutrino masses by the see-saw mechanism via one effective dimension-five
operator. Here we extend this approach to 3-3-1 chiral models showing that in
this case there are several dimension-five operators and we also consider their
tree level realization.Comment: RevTex, 7 pages and 4 .eps figures. Version published in Phys. Rev.

Generating Neutrino Mass in the 331 Model
A mechanism for generating small tree-level Majorana mass for neutrinos is
implemented in the 331 Model. No additional fermions or scalars need to be
added, and no mass scale greater than a few TeV is invoked.Comment: LaTex, 7 pages, no figures. Revised version to appear in Phys. Rev.
