Evaluation of the development scenarios of Sava river waterway and ports

Republika Hrvatska smještena je između Središnje Europe i Sredozemlja, a poznata je i kao podunavska zemlja s razvijenom mrežom unutarnjih plovnih putova koja nije dovoljno iskorištena. S trima glavnim rijekama Dunavom, Savom i Dravom, Hrvatska pripada dunavskom koridoru. Navedene rijeke su od međunarodnog značaja i spadaju u mrežu europskih plovnih putova. Predmet ovog rada i posebna pozornost stavljena je na trenutno stanje luka na rijeci Savi, njihovo razvijanje, unapređenje turizma kroz razne projekte. Odabrana su četiri projekta koji su trenutno u izradi, detaljno je opisan plan obnove plovnog puta, izgradnja luka Slavonski Brod i Sisak te mogući razvoj riječnog turizma na rijekama unutarnje plovidbe. Republika Hrvatska je prepoznala mogućnosti koje nude programi i europski fondovi, te se stoga riječni promet aktivno razvija. Modernizacijom unutarnjih plovnih putova i lučkih sustava Republika Hrvatska se razvija i postaje konkurentna drugim razvijenim zemljama, a veliki projekti osiguravaju joj stabilnost i aktivni razvoj prometnog sektora.The Republic of Croatia is located at the crossroads of Central Europe and the Adriatic Sea. Also, Croatia is known as a country with developed network of the inland waterways which are insufficiently used. Because of the flows of the Danube, Sava and Drava rivers, Croatia is part of the Danube corridor. Listed rivers are of international significance and are part of the European waterways network. The subject of this thesis and its attention is on the current state of the ports on the Sava river, and its general and touristic developments through several projects. Four projects have been chosen for this thesis that are in the phase of the implementation. Also, a plan of the waterway renewal, constructing Slavonski Brod and Sisak ports, and the possible II development of the inland waterways’ rivers tourism are described. The Republic of Croatia has recognized the opportunities offered by programs and European funds, and therefore river traffic is actively developing. With the modernization of inland waterways and port systems, the Republic of Croatia is developing and becoming competitive with other developed countries, and major projects ensure its stability and active development of the transport sector
