    Individual, organizational and environmental factors affecting work-life balance

    Finding a balance between work life and personal life has become a worldwide trend. Understanding factor that could affect work-life balance is important in rectifying this problem. Based on Conservation of Resources (COR) Theory, this study aims to examine direct relationship between emotional intelligence, spiritual intelligence, job engagement, work overload, technology advancement, and work-life balance. It also investigates moderating effect of organizational support on the relationship between emotional intelligence, spiritual intelligence, job engagement, work overload, technology advancement, and work-life balance. A total of 1,899 questionnaires were personally distributed to police officers at police headquarters in Peninsular Malaysia. Of 1,899 sets distributed, only 1,566 sets were returned and usable for further analysis, representing a response rate of 85%. Partial least squares (PLS) was used to evaluate the measurement model and structural model. The results support the hypotheses that emotional intelligence and job engagement are positively related to work-life balance. On the contrary, work overload and technology advancement are found to be negatively related to work-life balance. Additionally, spiritual intelligence is not found to be significantly and positively related to work-life balance. Finally, organizational support only moderates the relationship between job engagement and work-life balance. Theoretical and practical implications of the findings, as well as limitations and directions for future research, are discussed. The findings of this study provide evidence on the applicability of conservation of resources (COR) theory in explaining the factors affect work-life balance.     Is spiritual intelligence no longer relevant on business performance?

    The current study was to examine the mediating role of Spiritual Intelligence (SQ) in engaging employees at the workplace. Particularly, this study aimed to at investigating the SQ in the relationship between practices and business performance among the food handlers. The main objective of this research is to examine the mediating effect of the SQ on the business performance (food, services, and atmosphere). Four main SQ dimensions from the ISIS measurement scale were used as a basis to collect the data. A total of 816 data was collected from the food handlers from different government’s off-premises. Analyzed with the Smart PLS, the analysis showed that SQ mediated the relationship between practices and business performance in these three areas. In assessing the structural model estimate, the results of analysis revealed that the direct effect is statistically difference from zero (β_c≠0). Thus, rejected the null hypothesis β_c=0 with a statistically significance showed that there is a mediating effect on the relationship between practices and business performance. The discussion is made in explanation of these results within the context of other researches and suggestions for further research

    Employers in the food and beverage (F&B) industry require many high-skilled and well-trained professionals but workers are often exploited in the industry. Aiming to answer if personal health, personal time management, and family matters affect the work-life balance (WLB) of F&B employees, which family matters played a mediator role. The data of 108 responses was analysed through the PROCESS analysis and Sobel's Test. The regression analysis shows that family matters are a mediator of the relationship between personal health and personal time management and WLB indicating that the variable is vital in ensuring a healthy WLB among F&B’s employees.   Keywords: Family matters; Personal health; Personal time management; Quality of life eISSN: 2398-4287 © 2022.     Prioritizing safety training for a more personal compliance of a safe and healthy work environment among students and staff of higher education institutions of Selangor

    Safety is an important element in an organization. A safe work space makes safety a priority throughout the organization. Improved safety will minimize job accidents, injuries, medical illnesses and death. Occupational safety and health (OSH) training that is provided by the top management of universities will create a safe and comfortable environment for both the staff and students. It also guarantees that every em-ployee is safe in the workplace. Thus, the primary objective of this study is to investigate the effect of safety training towards personal com-pliance. A total of 234 questionnaires were distributed to 20 higher educational institutions in Selangor, Malaysia. A conclusion was reached once the data were analyzed using SPSS; that safety training (B = 0.364, t = 11.90, p <.01) significantly has a positive effect on Personal Compliance

    Work–life balance is a main concern for employees and employers alike, because a work–life imbalance can cause stress and health-related problems among workers.This study examines the relationship between emotional intelligence and work–life balance among police officers, and also the impact of organizational support as a moderator in this relationship.The data were collected from 1566 police officers in Peninsular Malaysia.Data was analyzed using the Partial Least Square (PLS) method. The results showed a significant and positive relationship between emotional intelligence and work–life balance.Organizational support was also found to moderate this relationship. These findings suggest that to achieve a work–life balance, police officers must have emotional intelligence, and the presence of organizational support would strengthen this relationship.Hence, in managing police officers’ work–life balance, it is important to enhance their emotional intelligence and implement organizational support policies
