A set of questionnaire with five Likert Scale was distributed. The collections of the data is to study the perception of teachers and the relationship among the variables. The questionnaire was adapted from research done by Matnoh (1995), Mohd Radzi (1995) and a few questions were created by the researcher. All the data gathered was analyzed at p = .05 using Descriptive Statistics and Pearson Correlations. The results indicate that there are 1) no significant different in perception toward in house training program between teachers’ gender (p > .05 p = .366), service scheme (p > .05 p = .322) and school grade (p > .05 p = .240), 2) a strong relationship and significant (r = .739 p = .OO) between importance and implementation variables. There is a weak relationship and not significant (r = .270 p = 0.16) between implementation and supervision variables of in house training program. Based on the findings, the researcher would like to suggest that the process of implementation and supervision of in house training program will be emphasized and upgraded so that they will benefit the organization and the staffs

The concept of leadership has been present eversince the dawn of time, with scholars steering broad studies from various directions and viewpoints, which were then formed into literary works. In the Malay Archipelago, Taj al-Salatin manuscript (1603M) is extensively recognised as a masterwork that emphasised leadership qualities from the Islamic viewpoint. This study was conducted to recognise the author’s notions on Islamic leadership in the context of Malay Archipelago, using descriptive method by analysing the manuscript. The results revealed that leaders and leadership are deliberated, as a decree from Allah SWT. Good rulers must be competent, with higher knowledge and morals than their followers. Taj al-Salatin presents the indication that rulers should exercise Tasawwuf, which among its practises take account of unceasing self reminder of death, rejecting desires and lust, and prioritising remembrance of Allah. In his manuscript, Bukhari al-Jauhari presents the idea, optimism and the notion of “rulers are perfect beings”, which personifies the concept of Tauhid and espouses noble character for universal civilisation. A ruler of a country should at all times stand on the grounds of good moral standards and the people are led towards generating a peaceful, thriving and blissful nation

Co-curricular is the educational activities and experiences done outside normal classroom which is the continuation and reinforcement to the learning activities in the classroom contributing to the improvement of students’ academic achievement. The ‘ties and knots’ skill is a compulsory skill in the uniform unit’s syllabus. The teachers need to teach and assess each of these skills in order for each uniform unit’s member to achieve the required achievement level, and using hands on technique is no longer relevant in dealing with this transformation issue. Therefore, to address this issue, an Interactive Co-curricular Multimedia Software for uniform unit was developed for the ‘ties and knots’ topic using the teaching design model that considers students opinions and the multiple intelligences theory through various software construction design using ADDIE model. Using this approach, the teachers use hands on techniques with the help of the software and make this interactive material as reference, guideline and exercise for reinforcement and assessment based on testing technique that suits the current trend in acknowledging students achievement. This approach is hoped to solve teachers’ dilemma in guiding and assessing the students to master the ‘ties and knots’ skill and as a guideline for the students to completely master the skill easily, clearly and interactively in order to attract their interest and influence their tendency to the maximum in the uniform unit activities

Sovereignty of a nation: a lesson learnt from the case of Batu Puteh Island (Pedra Branca)

    Get PDF
This paper discusses on the issues related to Batu Puteh Island (Pedra Branca) which is a topic of discussion in relation to the sovereignty of a country and its implications in the future. Losing territories will undermine the sovereignty of a country and is an insult to them. The reality is a bitter truth. Sovereignty is a symbol of power to many countries. The corresponding letter by the Acting Secretary of Johore dated 21st September 1953 stated that Johore does not claim ownership of Pedra Branca. The letter was seen by ICJ as a sign that Johore had handed over its sovereignty on Batu Puteh Island over to the British. Therefore, the court concluded that the letter clearly indicates that since 1953, Johore has declared that it no longer had sovereignty over Pedra Branca. Various questions arise regarding the letter. Where is the authority and sovereign of the Sultan of Johore who ruled over Johore and its territories? Can an Acting Secretary of State legitimately decide on matters of sovereignty, land and territorial rights? Or, should it be decided by the Sultan as head of a sovereign state? These are some of the questions which are yet to be answered and documentation is vital. It will determine the future and the road to success. Learn from history, learn from the administrative weaknesses and individual mistakes, and remember that history repeats itself in the future. Our own mistakes cost us an island which was originally ours for centuries. Our absent mindedness led us in losing the island’s sovereignty to other nation. Everyone knows that the island belongs to Johore with all related documents are complete and history has proven it. Always be careful when making any decisions or be sorry for life
