The problem of Palestine has been a subject of much debate not only among scholars but also involved world superpowers as well. As this conflict rages on, there is a need to look at the root cause of the problem which one could argue that, among others, was caused by the ambitions of Zionist Movement. This paper examines the emergence of Zionist Movement and its role in establishing the State of Israel by confiscating Palestinians‟ territory and land. Zionist controls over the territory has resulted in the expulsion of Palestinians from their homeland. This study was conducted as a library research with textual analysis on the sources of Palestine historiography. The result shows that the Zionist Movement had lobbied the world superpowers, especially Britain and United States of America, until they supported the movement and resulting in the creation of the State of Israel on the Palestinian land

Indigenous education policy in Malaysia: a discussion of normalization in schooling

    Get PDF
This paper argues that Malaysian education systems which have a mainstream orientation and very little consideration is given to the educational requirements, cultural context and also languages of Indigenous peoples (Orang Asli). This has indirectly impacted the educational outcomes for Orang Asli students with limited acknowledgment of the rights of Indigenous people in the education system. Therefore, it is important for educators to address educational disadvantage and the rights of Orang Asli in schools because it can contribute to social justice and hinder the learning process and education outcomes. This paper adopts Michel Foucault's notion of power, knowledge and normalization in explaining and understanding the issues in aspects of language, culture and pedagogy in schools. In this paper, I focus on normalization issues in education policy for Indigenous peoples which has impacted on the academic performance of Orang Asli students. Lastly, this paper provides analysis of the current practices and policy of Indigenous education that can contribute to improving the current policy and ensuring justice for all students. These issues remain important in improving equity and self-determination among Orang Asli and ensuring social justice for Orang Asli in Malaysia

    Get PDF
This study aims to understand the characteristics of preserving traditional values of salafiyah Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) in Indonesia and Malaysia. The research method is ethnographic-phenomenological with data collection techniques through observation, documentation, and interviews. This study found that the tradition of salafiyah Islamic boarding school is still preserved in the Islamic boarding school education system, even though they are geographically in different locations and countries. The system they maintain is the charismatic Kyai Kitab as a leadership model, the yellow book as the core curriculum, syawir (muzakarah) as a learning method, and giving oral diplomas as a form of scientific recognition. This study contributes to a deep understanding that traditional Islamic boarding schools (salafiyah) are the original Islamic education of Indonesia and Malaysia which are still the center of classical Islamic tradition preservation

Outdoor User Location over 802.11 Ad-hoc Network

    Get PDF
The objective of this project is to implement outdoor user location which is build on top of IEEE 802.11 technology. In this solution, four laptops are used where three of the laptops will serve as the reference points and the other one will be the target. The signal strengths from each reference laptop to the target are measured to serve as arguments for localization algorithms, which is triangulation. In order to perform this algorithm, the locations of the three reference laptops and their separation distance from the target laptop are needed to be known. The locations of the reference laptops are arbitrarily assigned but the separation distances are estimated based on the signal strength information received by the target laptop. To find the relationship between the separation distance and signal strength received from each reference laptop, a series of signal strength measurements are conducted. From the collected data, the radio propagation models are determined. A Graphical User Interface (GUI) has been developed to make the process of location determination become less complicated and more user friendly. At the end of this work, the site testing has validated that this algorithm can be used to determine the user location in outdoor environment with considerable accuracy

Energy absorption performance of braided basalt reinforced composite tubes under axial loads

    Get PDF
The thin-walled composite tube is recognised as a potential replacement for thin-walled metal tubes in light-weight structures. In higher load-bearing structures, thick-walled composite tubes have more advantages compared to thin-walled composite tubes. However, thick-walled composite tubes use more material, thus resulting in additional weight to the structure. Therefore, a decent design of fibre reinforced sandwich composite tube with polymer foam-core could have a higher potential to provide both demands of high energy absorption capacity as well as light-weighting structure. Due to the recent environmental awareness, natural basalt fibre has been getting more demand and interest from preform manufacturers. Hence, the aim of this research is devoted to the investigation of energy absorption performance of novel and eco-friendly braided basalt composite tubes associated with axial crushing loadings. A series of thin-walled and sandwich composite tubes were fabricated using braided basalt/epoxy composite and expanded polyurethane foam. The axial crushing tests of these tubes under quasi-static and impact loads were carried out. A numerical model of sandwich tube with the highest energy absorption capability obtained experimentally was developed and validated with the experimental result. The main finding shows that sandwich tubes have better crushing control than thin-walled tubes under a dynamic impact loading. The result implies that there is an approximately 30% drop in value of crush force efficiency of thin-walled tubes under quasi-static compared to dynamic crushing, while sandwich tubes have sustained values. The experimental result also reveals that the basalt composite tube with a ±45º braid angle has the highest crushing performance compared to other braid orientations. The numerical model of sandwich tube (±45º/core/±45º) was validated with experimental result in accordance to the scopes and parameters used in this study

The Federal Constitution which as the Malayan Constitution came into force twenty five years ago, has proved to be a strong foundation on which to base a system of government capable of securing an efficient executive sensitive to the need for political stability without which there can be no economic stability and no prosperity for the newly independent nation. There is no doubt that since 31st. August 1957, where Malaysia achieved its independence the country has gone from strength to strength, as can be seen especially in the economic Field, also social and politic. The most dramatic ecidence is the value of Malaysian dollar which is today worth in terms of sterling double what it was at Independence. Many factors have been responsible for the steady progress made by the country in so many areas! Not least in the contribution made by the judiciary that has quietly maintained the supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law, and determined the matters that come up before it fairly and impartially without fear or favour. The reputation that it enjoys of being able to decide without interference from the executive or the legislature, or indeed from anybody, contributes to confidence on the part of the members of the public generally that should they get involved in any dispute with the executive or with each other, they can be sure of a fair and patient hearing and that their disputes will be determined impartially and honestly in accordance with law and justice..
