This study was to examine the theoretical approach that can be used against the client in solving a problem. This study was performed on one client at a school in Kluang, Johor who have behavior problems and negative thoughts. This study focuses on two aspects of the problems can be identified, namely the problem of aggressive acts such as bullying and fighting the teachers and the problems do not feel accepted by their friends and not loved by their parents. This study was conducted to provide a one-time counseling sessions and has been running for thirty minutes. Counselor had also sought approval for the session to be recorded as a reference and collection for the counselor. The suitable theory to used in thid session is rational emotive behaviour theory. The tecnique in REBT such as role-playing was applied in this session due to the client’s unrational behaviour. Client behave in improper manner due to the negitive thoughts. Based on counselor’s reading on theory shows that it is suitable to be applied in session as to help client to achieve his/her goals and success in life. Keywords: REBT, Bulliying, Role-playin

On the Capacity Region of the Deterministic Y-Channel with Common and Private Messages

In multi user Gaussian relay networks, it is desirable to transmit private information to each user as well as common information to all of them. However, the capacity region of such networks with both kinds of information is not easy to characterize. The prior art used simple linear deterministic models in order to approximate the capacities of these Gaussian networks. This paper discusses the capacity region of the deterministic Y-channel with private and common messages. In this channel, each user aims at delivering two private messages to the other two users in addition to a common message directed towards both of them. As there is no direct link between the users, all messages must pass through an intermediate relay. We present outer-bounds on the rate region using genie aided and cut-set bounds. Then, we develop a greedy scheme to define an achievable region and show that at a certain number of levels at the relay, our achievable region coincides with the upper bound. Finally, we argue that these bounds for this setup are not sufficient to characterize the capacity region.Comment: 4 figures, 7 page

Improved Reinforcement-Based Profile Learning For Document Filtering

Today the amount of accessible information is overwhelming. A personalized information filtering system must be able to tailor to current interests of the user and to adapt as they change over time. This system has to monitor a stream of incoming documents to learn the user’s information requirements, which is the user profile. The research has proposed a content-based personal information system learns the user’s preferences by analyzing the document contents and building a user profile. This system is called RePLS; an agent-based Reinforcement Profile Learning System with adaptive information filtering. The research focuses on an improved terms weighting to measure the importance of the terms represent each profile called “purity term weighting”. The top selected terms are then used to filter the incoming documents to the learned user profiles. The agent approach is used because of its autonomous and adaptive capabilities to perform the filtering. The proposed method was evaluated and compared with three Information Filtering methods, namely Rocchio, Okapi/BSS Basic Search System and Reinf, the incremental profile learning method. Based on the proposed method, a profile learning system is developed using Microsoft VC++ connected to Microsoft Access database through an ODBC. AFC kit is used to implement the proposed agents under RETSINA architecture. The experiments are carried out on the TREC 2002 Filtering Track dataset provided by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). This research has proven that RePLS is able to filter the stream of incoming documents according to the user interests (profiles) learned by the proposed Purity term weighting method. Based on the experiments results, Purity weighting shows better terms weighting and profile learning than the other methods. The outcome of a considerably good accuracy is mainly due to the right weighting of the profile’s terms during the learning phase. This research opens a wide range of future works to be considered, including the investigation of the dependency between the selected terms for each profile, investigating the quality of the method on different datasets, and finally, the possibility to apply the proposed method in other area like the recommendation systems

Hot-melt extrusion and 3D printing are among the recent means of processing techniques adopted in the pharmaceutical industry. These technologies are used as a method of preparing solid dispersions develop complex shapes that are difficult to be obtained using other means of production. In the current research work, many formulations loaded with lidocaine HCl were prepared and extruded using 11mm twin-screw extruder. The extrudate filaments were then fed into a fused deposition modelling (FDM) printer to fabricate mucoadhesive films meant to buccal applications to manage local pain within the oral cavity that requires the intervention with local anesthetics. The printed films drug content was determined using HPLC, films drug content was within the acceptable limits. Furthermore, the drug release was assessed using an in-house method. All test formulations revealed an excellent release profile of the lidocaine HCl, reaching more than 90% within 5-15 min. The films adhesion and mechanical properties were tested using texture analyzer. The results indicated that the films possess an adequate mechanical property to satisfy its intended use. In conclusion, this research work demonstrates that coupling hot-melting extruder to a fused deposition modelling printing is feasible to produce lidocaine-loaded buccal mucoadhesive films intended for local application in the oral cavity

Voltage profile enhancement in distribution network using static synchronous compensator STATCOM

    Get PDF
STATCOM is one of FACTS devices that used as regulator for transmission and distribution systems which works for reactive power compensation. STATCOM utilisation in distribution system mostly for enhancing the profile of voltage, where used for adjusting the disturbance voltage by injecting into the system a controllable voltage. This paper present a Fuzzy controller based on STATCOM to enhance the voltage profile in distribution network. The controller of STATCOM has simulated for different types of abnormal load conditions of balance and unbalance load. The results of simulation show ability of proposed design to enhance the load voltage which was 96% of the nominal value
