During the first trimester of 2020, the world exposed to unusual epidemiological situation that has had a negative impact and had disrupted ordinary life, which imposed on the competent authorities in addressing the epidemic by means of preventive and other treatment controls, as many government orders were issued that changed daily life, imposed closures and restriction of freedoms as: freedom of worship, reorganization of religious rites, in particular with regard to Hajj and Umrah. This study has concluded that the governmental procedures is required and essential in response to the pandemic. However, it was reflected on the individuals’ rights and freedoms. Also, it has concluded that the administration shall monitor the procedures issued thereby to response to the pandemic to prevent its assault on individuals’ rights and freedoms. As well as, the study recommended that these control procedures shall be limited in the epidemiological and health situation and not exceeded the limits of this Epidemiological circumstanc

Background: ZIKV is one of the re-emerging arboviruses (viruses carried by arthropods), which is spread through the Aedes mosquito. It is an RNA virus with only one strand that is appropriate to the family Flaviviridae's  Flavivirus (genus) & has been linked to other Flaviviruses such as the West Nile virus, chikungunya virus, & dengue (DENV) virus. The envelope, precursor membrane, and capsid are three structural proteins, and seven nonstructural proteins are also encoded by the Zika virus genome. Methods: We conducted an in-silico analysis of the Zika virus' MTase domain protein for this publication. We predicted that methylation would play a significant role in the available Prosite, Pfam, and InterProScan tools to aid in locating the MTase domain. Along with alignment, amino acid composition, charged amino acids, atomic level studies, & molecular weight, we also make predictions for these variables, including theoretical Pi.Results: We also examine the MTase domain's simulated structure (alpha helix, beta sheet, turn) and its specifics, including secondary structure. We also pinpoint the locations where proteins, DNA, and RNA bind. Potential phosphorylation sites can be found on the Ser, Thr, and Tyr residues in the MTase domain. Conclusion: These outcomes imply a complicated interaction between different phosphorylation modifications that modulates the activity of the MTase domain. To fully appreciate the auxiliary and practical perspectives and to clarify the varied roles of PTM in the MTase domain will be a primary goal of future study.Keywords: I-TASSER; Secondary structure; Prosite; α-helix; Pfam; InterProScan; Binding sites; Posttranslational modification; SOPMA; Phyre2

Magnetic and Optical properties of strained films of multiferroic GdMnO3

    Get PDF
The effects of strain on a film of mulitferroic GdMnO3 are investigated using both magnetometry and magneto-optic spectroscopy. Optical spectra, in the energy range 1.5eV - 3.5eV, were taken in Faraday geometry in an applied magnetic field and also at remanence. This yielded rich information on the effects of strain on the spin ordering in these films. Epitaxial films of GdMnO3 were grown on SrTiO3 and LaAlO3 substrates. The LaAlO3 was twinned and so produced a highly strained film whereas the strain was less for the film grown on SrTiO3. The Ne\'el temperatures and coercive fields were measured using zero field data and hysteresis loops obtained using a SQUID magnetometer. Optical absorption data agreed with earlier work on bulk materials. The two well known features in the optical spectrum, the charge transfer transition between Mn d states at ~2eV and the band edge transition from the oxygen p band to the d states at ~3eV are observed in the magnetic circular dichroism; however they behaved very differently both as a function of magnetic field and temperature. This is interpreted in terms of the magnetic ordering of the Mn spins.Comment: 9 pages of text including figure

Osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most prevalent conditions resulting to disability particularly in elderly population About 13% of women and 10% of men aged 60 years and older have symptomatic knee OA. The proportions of people affected with symptomatic knee OA is likely to increase due to the aging of the population and the rate of obesity or overweight in the general population. There are multiple factors associated with this progressive disease such as obesity, female gender, and repetitive trauma. Pain is the most common symptom in knee OA, a leading cause of chronic disability, clinical diagnosis will be supported by certain radiological findings. There are numerous conservative therapies that help to relive symptoms depend on severity of Osteoarthritis, and knee replacement remains standard of care in advance disease. Fat Micrografting is evolving technique with promising result in selected patients with regenerative and reparative effect of adipocyte-derived stem cell toward damaged cartilage and bone, which supported by clinical evidence

Developing a Model Based on the Radial Basis Function to Predict the Compressive Strength of Concrete Containing Fly Ash

A supplemental pozzolanic material such as fly ash may result in a reduction in the concrete’s adverse environmental effect by reducing the discharge of carbon dioxide throughout the cement production procedure. This pozzolanic material also enhances the mechanical characteristics as well as the durability of concrete material. Considering the boundless passion for utilizing fly ash and conducting extensive research studies, the extent to which this supplement can be added to concrete has a limitation equal to almost one-third of cement material’s weight. In the current study, a model based on the Radial Basis Function (RBF) is developed to estimate the compressive strength of concrete containing various amounts of fly ash at any arbitrary age. Having parameters used as inputs in ANN modeling such as concrete additives and characteristics of fly ash, the output was compressive strength. It was concluded that the estimated results agree well with the experimental measurements with an MSE of 0.0012 for the compressive strength. Simple and practical equations are proposed to present a simple means to determine the compressive strength of fly ash-based concrete

Fullerene-containing materials have the ability to store and release electrical energy. Therefore, fullerenes may ultimately find use in high-voltage equipment devices or as super capacitors for high electric energy storage due to this ease of manipulating their excellent dielectric properties and their high volume resistivity. A series of structured fullerene (C60) polymer nanocomposites were assembled using the thiol-ene click reaction, between alkyl thiols and allyl functionalized C60 derivatives. The resulting high-density C60-urethane-thiol-ene (C60-Thiol-Ene) networks possessed excellent mechanical properties. These novel networks were characterized using standard techniques, including infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). The dielectric spectra for the prepared samples were determined over a broad frequency range at room temperature using a broadband dielectric spectrometer and a semiconductor characterization system. The changes in thermo-mechanical and electrical properties of these novel fullerene-thiol-ene composite films were measured as a function of the C60 content, and samples characterized by high dielectric permittivity and low dielectric loss were produced. In this process, variations in chemical composition of the networks were correlated to performance characteristics

Increasing the Accuracy and Optimizing the Structure of the Scale Thickness Detection System by Extracting the Optimal Characteristics Using Wavelet Transform

Loss of energy, decrement of efficiency, and decrement of the effective diameter of the oil pipe are among the consequences of scale inside oil condensate transfer pipes. To prevent these incidents and their consequences and take timely action, it is important to detect the amount of scale. One of the accurate diagnosis methods is the use of non-invasive systems based on gamma-ray attenuation. The detection method proposed in this research consists of a detector that receives the radiation sent by the gamma source with dual energy (radioisotopes 241 Am and 133 Ba) after passing through the test pipe with inner scale (in different thicknesses). This structure was simulated by Monte Carlo N Particle code. The simulation performed in the test pipe included a three-phase flow consisting of water, gas, and oil in a stratified flow regime in different volume percentages. The signals received by the detector were processed by wavelet transform, which provided sufficient inputs to design the radial basis function (RBF) neural network. The scale thickness value deposited in the pipe can be predicted with an MSE of 0.02. The use of a detector optimizes the structure, and its high accuracy guarantees the usefulness of its use in practical situations

Application of Artificial Intelligence for Determining the Volume Percentages of a Stratified Regime’s Three-Phase Flow, Independent of the Oil Pipeline’s Scale Thickness

As time passes, scale builds up inside the pipelines that deliver the oil or gas product from the source to processing plants or storage tanks, reducing the inside diameter and ultimately wasting energy and reducing efficiency. A non-invasive system based on gamma-ray attenuation is one of the most accurate diagnostic methods to detect volumetric percentages in different conditions. A system including two NaI detectors and dual-energy gamma sources ( 241 Am and 133 Ba radioisotopes) is the recommended requirement for modeling a volume-percentage detection system using Monte Carlo N particle (MCNP) simulations. Oil, water, and gas form a three-phase flow in a stratified-flow regime in different volume percentages, which flows inside a scaled pipe with different thicknesses. Gamma rays are emitted from one side, and photons are absorbed from the other side of the pipe by two scintillator detectors, and finally, three features with the names of the count under Photopeaks 241 Am and 133 Ba of the first detector and the total count of the second detector were obtained. By designing two MLP neural networks with said inputs, the volumetric percentages can be predicted with an RMSE of less than 1.48 independent of scale thickness. This low error value guarantees the effectiveness of the intended method and the usefulness of using this approach in the petroleum and petrochemical industries

Proanthocyanidin-rich date seed extract protects against chemically induced hepatorenal toxicity

A hydroacetone extract was prepared from seeds of Phoenix dactylifera L. var. Khalas, which is an industrial by-product of date processing. The proanthocyanidin nature of the extract (coded as DTX) was characterized by phytochemical and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) analyses. The total phenol/proanthocyanidin content and antioxidant activity of DTX were estimated by Folin-Ciocalteu, vanillin-sulfuric acid, and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assays, respectively. The hepatorenal protective activity of DTX was evaluated using CCl4-induced toxicity model in rats, in comparison with silymarin (SYL). Results of the histopathological examination and measurements of various hepatorenal serum indices and tissue biochemical markers demonstrated that DTX displayed marked protective potential against CCl4-induced liver and kidney injury at 100 mg/kg/rat. Relative to the control CCl4-intoxicated group, pretreatment with DTX significantly (P<.001) suppressed the elevated serum levels of alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase (ALT and AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), γ-glutamyl transferase (GGT), total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), bilirubin, creatinine, and calcium, whereas it significantly (P<.001) increased the diminished serum levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and total protein (TP). Moreover, DTX significantly decreased malondialdehyde (MDA) formation and increased TP synthesis in hepatorenal tissues compared with the intoxicated control. The improvement in biochemical parameters by DTX was observed in a dose-dependent manner and confirmed by restoration of normal histological features. The acute toxicity test of DTX in rats revealed safety of the extract. This study reveals that DTX enhances the recovery from xenobiotics-induced toxicity initiated by free radicals
