An Intelligent Tutoring System for Teaching the 7 Characteristics for Living Things
Recently, due to the rapid progress of computer technology, researchers develop an effective computer program to enhance the achievement of the student in learning process, which is Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS). Science is important because it influences most aspects of everyday life, including food, energy, medicine, leisure activities and more. So learning science subject at school is very useful, but the students face some problem in learning it. So we designed an ITS system to help them understand this subject easily and smoothly by analyzing it and explaining it in a systematic way.
In this paper, we describe the design of an Intelligent Tutoring System for teaching science for grade seven to help students know the 7 characteristics for living things smoothly. The system provides all topics of living things and generates some questions for each topic and the students should answer these questions correctly to move to the next level.
In the result of an evaluation of the ITS, students like the system and they said that it is very useful for them and for their studies
Work Trip Characteristics Folowing the Gulf Crisis: The Experience in Amman, Jordan
This paper investigates the home to work trip characteristics following the Gulf crisis and the huge influx of Gulf returnees (mainly from Kuwait). These characteristics are measured through specifying and estimating three disaggregate models. These models represent the commuters' home to work trip duration, the frequency increase with which commuters arrived late at work, and the delay duration increase following the Gulf crisis. The specified models were estimated through the use of a random commuter survey carried out in Amman, Jordan's capital. The results show that, on average, commuters now arrive late at work three times a week compared with about once a week before the crisis. Furthermore, there is a clear shift in commuters' departure time. More commuters are departing earlier now (following the crisis) to compensate for the effect of traffic congestion. This clearly demonstrate the impact of the Gulf crisis and inability of the current transportation services to handle the new demand. Estimation results clearly suggest that commuters' household location, home to work mode choice, home departure time, work location, and the socioeconomic characteristics influence greatly the home to work trip characteristics. Elasticity estimates show that only the work trip length has an elasticity greater than one. Thus, the likelihood of arriving late at work and the delay duration are dominated by the level of congestion faced by commuters
Fabricate and Characterization of SrTiO3-based MIM capacitors
The conventional method uses the stoichiometric mixture of metallic oxides to synthesize polycrystalline SrTiO3. The SrTiO3 was prepared by spin coating to fabricate Metal-Insulator-Matel (MIM) aluminum-SrTiO3 film-aluminum. The cubic structure of the prepared thin film of SrTiO3 was confirmed by X-ray diffraction analysis. Strontium Titanate was deposited on silicon substrates. Studying the effect of the film thickness on the structural and electrical properties. The surface morphology of deposited thin films was studied using a scanning electron microscope. Electrical properties for SrTiO3 films at constant frequency were measured. The electrical conductivity decreases with increasing thickness. The behavior of (capacitance- Frequency) at different thicknesses was discussed. It is noted that the dielectric constant decreases with increasing frequency for all films, and the dielectric constant increases as thickness increases
Kinematic analysis of blocks in tunnel on the basis of discontinuities.
This paper demonstrates the advantages of using stereographic projections in kinematic analysis of
rock blocks in excavation surface. The stereographic method is completed by planes and poles as
points and lines on the horizontal surface and the block kinematic behavioral analysis is investigated in
a rock free face subsequently. A block is considered to be an instable one when the intersection lines
fall into the critical zone, this area is defined through the relationship between the friction angle of the
stone mass and the slope of the free face respectively. It is possible to determine the movement of the
blocks on the basis of the discontinuity position before any collapse or sliding happens
Optical Properties of Ferroelectric Thin Film Prepared by PLD Technique
Polycrystalline SrTiO3 is synthesized from a stoichiometric combination of metallic oxides by standard ceramic synthesis methods. SrTiO3 thin film X-ray diffraction examination confirmed the cubic structure phase. Strontium Titanate was deposited on the glass substrate. Studying the effect of annealing temperature on the structural properties of the glass of substrate, it is clear that increasing the annealing temperature can improve the crystallinity of SrTiO3 thin films. The surface morphology of the deposited thin films was studied using Scanning Electronic macroscopy; it is observed that the grain size increases with increasing the annealing temperature. The transitions of SrTiO3 films show high transmittance within the wavelength range (300-800nm), making them suitable for antireflection coating in this region. The optical energy gap of SrTiO3 films at various annealing temperatures was measured. It decreases as the annealing temperature of the coatings increases
A Review of Rabbit Diseases in Egypt
Promising approaches of the Egyptian governmental as well as non-governmental society to rabbit industry to overcome the unemployment of youth in the society required more efforts from scientific institutes to help in development of such industry. Epidemiological studies are of outmost importance to highlight disease nature and to help in meantime implement of successful preventive and control measures. The aim of this paper is to review the situation of rabbit diseases of economic impact in Egypt (1952 to 2013). The review will highlight the viral infection of rabbit hemorrhagic disease, bacterial disease of colibacillosis, clostridiosis, salmonellosis, pasteurellosis, staphylococcosis and listeriosis and parasitic infection of coccidiosis and mange. Key words: Rabbit, disease, bacteria, viral infectio
Electronic Arbitration as a Solution for Electronic Commerce Dispute Resolution in the United Arab Emirates: Obstacles and Enforceability Challenges
This thesis first examines the legislative framework in the UAE and its key guiding principles
from which arbitration laws are derived. Secondly, based on the above examination of the
existing legislative framework and literature the study identifies the various aspects of the
existing legislative framework that impact upon the enforceability of e-arbitration for ecommerce
dispute resolution in the UAE. Finally, the thesis demonstrates how e-arbitration
can be incorporated into e-commerce and arbitration procedures in the UAE.
Two methodologies, namely ‘explorative qualitative research method’ and ‘semi-structure
interview’ are employed for the study. The findings from the examination of legislative
framework and literature as well as the empirical field study show that the unprecedented
developments in Information Communications Technology (ICT) had influenced and altered
the traditional methods of societal interaction globally.
The mass adoption of the Internet platform for trading has not only sought to eliminate the
physical distance between the businesses and consumers but presented new avenues for
potentially higher sales, coverage, lower costs and all at high speed. The concept of electronic
trading (E-Trade) has naturally developed new markets and opportunities, which nations
within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) such as the UAE are seeking to capture.
The findings also show that electronic arbitration (E-Arb) is eliminating the physical barriers between businesses, consumers and others choosing to arbitrate in cyberspace. This implies
that E-Arb is perceived to be an additional component and extension of the growing ECommerce
market and services. Therefore, adopting and supporting E-Arb provides an ideal
opportunity for the UAE as a global hub for commercial purposes. However, despite the
enthusiasm for the greater utilisation of ICT in UAE society, the domestic legalisation do not
fully recognise the distinctive feature of e-arbitration, which makes it difficult to link them
with international laws.
The study also identifies concerns with the impact of E-Arb upon the traditional heritage and
cultural practices in the UAE. Therefore, the study recommends that the existing UAE
legislative framework is made compatible with international laws. It also recommends that
there are comprehensive education and research programs in place to transform the traditional
and cultural nuances of UAE society towards a greater understanding of developments in
modern technology
Pharmacodynamic and Pharmacokinetic Studies on Tetracycline Hydrochloride in Rabbits
Tetracycline is one of the most important groups of antibiotics that have harmful effects on the consumers, therefore the public health safety against its residues represents a significant issue. This study aimed to estimate the effect of tetracycline hydrochloride on some hematological parameters, kidneys function tests as well as liver and breast muscle enzymes with special reference to the supposed withdrawal time of this drug in different rabbits’ tissues (kidney, liver and muscles), following oral dose of tetracycline using High Performance Liquid Chromatography. Tetracycline was administrated to eighteen rabbits directly into the stomach at a dose of 35 mg/kg BW once daily for five successive days. Samples were collected on the 1st, 3rd, 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th days after the last oral dose. The results revealed that, tetracycline caused a significant increase in the uric acid, urea, creatinine, alkaline phosphatase (ALP), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), creatine phosphokinase (CPK) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activities with no significant changes in the hematological parameters when compared with the control group. The residues remained in the liver and kidney for 7 days, while in muscles for 3 days only after the last oral dose of the drug. In conclusion, the disturbances in the biological parameters occurred by tetracycline administration in rabbits was transient and returned to normal after 7 days of last treatment. The withdrawal time of tetracycline was 14 days from the rabbit's tissues
Relation between Lymphopenia and Internal Organ Involvement in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Patients
Background: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease, characterized by autoantibody production and immunocomplex formation, leading to widespread inflammatory damage involving multi-organ systems. Lymphopenia is a common laboratory involvement seen in patients with SLE and the mechanism of it is still unclear.
Objectives: The aim of the current study was to investigate the relation between lymphopenia and clinical manifestations, laboratory findings, and disease activity in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients.
Patients and Methods: It was a cross sectional study; with a total of 60 patients with SLE recruited from the Rheumatology and Rehabilitation outpatient clinic at Sohag University Hospital. Demographic data, personal history, detailed history of general health condition and chronic or current diseases were reported. All the participants were subjected to detection of erythrocyte sedimentation rate, liver function tests, renal function tests, complete blood count (CBC), renal biopsy, protein/creatinine ratio and/or 24hr protein in urine, urine analysis, ANA profile, and Complement 3 and 4.
Results: Two thirds of the study population had normal lymphocytic count, and one third had lymphopenia. Lymphopenia group showed significantly more hypochromic anemia with significant lower hemoglobin level and lower MCV. The mean creatinine level was significantly higher among lymphopenic cases. Lymphopenic cases had higher proteinuria.
Conclusions: It could be concluded that lymphopenia in patients with SLE may be used as indicator of renal involvement in these patients
