    Collocation Orthonormal Berntein Polynomials method for Solving Integral Equations

    Get PDF
    In this paper, we use a combination of Orthonormal Bernstein functions on the interval  for degree ,and 6 to produce anew approach implementing Bernstein Operational matrix of derivative as a method for the numerical solution of linear Fredholm integral equations of the second kind and Volterra integral equations. The method converges rapidly to the exact solution and gives very accurate results even by low value of m. Illustrative examples are included to demonstrate the validity and efficiency of the technique and convergence of method to the exact solution. Keywords: Bernstein polynomials, Operational Matrix of Derivative, Linear Fredholm Integral Equations of the Second  Kind and Volterra Integral Equations

    Background: image processing of medical images is major method to increase reliability of cancer diagnosis. Methods: The proposed system proceeded into two stages: First, enhancement stage which was performed using of median filter to reduce the noise and artifacts that present in a CT image of a human lung with a cancer, Second: implementation of k-means clustering algorithm. Results: the result image of k-means algorithm compared with the image resulted from implementation of fuzzy c-means (FCM) algorithm. Conclusion: We found that the time required for k-means algorithm implementation is less than that of FCM algorithm.MATLAB package (version 7.3) was used in writing the programming code of our work

    Comparison between Modified Weighted Pareto Distribution and Many other Distributions

      In 2020 one of the researchers in this paper, in his first research, tried to find out the Modified Weighted Pareto Distribution of Type I by using the Azzalini method for weighted distributions, which contain three parameters, two of them for scale while the third for shape.This research compared the distribution with two other distributions from the same family; the Standard Pareto Distribution of Type I and the Generalized Pareto Distribution by using the Maximum likelihood estimator which was derived by the researchers for Modified Weighted Pareto Distribution of Type I, then the Mont Carlo method was used–that is one of the simulation manners for generating random samples data in different sizes ( n= 10,30,50), and in different initial values for each Pareto distribution family being used in the research. A comparison was done by using Akaike Information Criteria, Corrected Akaike Information Criteria, and Bayesian Information Criteri

    Background: Many factors have contributed to the increasing rates of CSs, including increases in maternal age, BMI, and changes in obstetric practices and technologies. CSs requested by the mother and fear of litigation among caregivers have now become one of the most common indications of CS. Aim of this study was to compare between conditions of previous one caesarean section subjects delivered at Kafr El-Sheikh general hospitals, versus those delivered at Tanta University hospital as regard integrity of the uterine scars, presence of adhesions, time of termination, and fetal outcomes.Methods: This study was an observational study that was carried out on 100 pregnant ladies with history of previous one caesarean section. Participants were divided into two groups: group I included 50 pregnant women selected from Tanta University hospitals, group II included 50 pregnant women selected from Kafr El-Sheikh General hospital.Results: The estimated blood loss was significantly higher in cases selected from Kafr El-Sheikh hospitals compared to that lost from cases selected from Tanta University hospitals. Furthermore, operation time was significantly longer in patients selected from Kafr El-Sheikh hospitals than those selected from Tanta University hospitals. Additionally, omental adhesion was observed in 5 cases (5%); 3 (6%) from those selected from Kafr El-sheikh hospitals and 2 (4%) from those selected from Tanta University hospitals. As regard post-operative blood transfusion, there were increase in the incidence of post-operative blood transfusion in pregnant women selected from Kafr El-Sheikh hospitals (8%) compared to those selected from Tanta University hospitals (4%), but without statistically significant difference (p=0.678).Conclusions: There is high rate of caesarean section in our country. But satisfactory results were present in both Tanta university hospitals and Kafr El-Sheikh general hospital with few complication rates found special in cases priory delivered at Tanta University hospitals including less adhesion finding and thus less intra and post-operative complications

    Mistranslation drives alterations in protein levels and the effects of a synonymous variant at the fibroblast growth factor 21 locus

    Get PDF
    Fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) is a liver-derived hormone with pleiotropic beneficial effects on metabolism. Paradoxically, FGF21 levels are elevated in metabolic diseases. Interventions that restore metabolic homeostasis reduce FGF21. Whether abnormalities in FGF21 secretion or resistance in peripheral tissues is the initiating factor in altering FGF21 levels and function in humans is unknown. A genetic approach is used to help resolve this paradox. The authors demonstrate that the primary event in dysmetabolic phenotypes is the elevation of FGF21 secretion. The latter is regulated by translational reprogramming in a genotype- and context-dependent manner. To relate the findings to tissues outcomes, the minor (A) allele of rs838133 is shown to be associated with increased hepatic inflammation in patients with metabolic associated fatty liver disease. The results here highlight a dominant role for translation of the FGF21 protein to explain variations in blood levels that is at least partially inherited. These results provide a framework for translational reprogramming of FGF21 to treat metabolic diseases

    Design and synthesis of new thiazolidinone/uracil derivatives as antiproliferative agents targeting EGFR and/or BRAFV600E^{V600E}

    Thiourea derivatives of uracil were efficiently synthesized via the reaction of 5-aminouracil with isothiocyanates. Then, we prepared uracil-containing thiazoles via condensation of thioureas with diethyl/dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylates. The structures of the products were confirmed by a combination of spectral techniques including infra-red (IR), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), mass spectrometry (MS) and elemental analyses. A rationale for the formation of the products is presented. The newly synthesized compounds were evaluated for their in vitro antiproliferative activity against four cancer cell lines. The compounds tested showed promising antiproliferative activity, with GI50_{50} values ranging from 1.10 µM to 10.00 µM. Compounds 3c, 5b, 5c, 5h, 5i, and 5j were the most potent derivatives, with GI50_{50} values ranging from 1.10 µM to 1.80 µM. Compound 5b showed potent inhibitory activity against EGFR and BRAFV600E^{V600E} with IC50_{50} of 91 ± 07 and 93 ± 08 nM, respectively, indicating that this compound could serve as a dual inhibitor of EGFR and BRAFV600E^{V600E} with promising antiproliferative properties. Docking computations revealed the great potency of compounds 5b and 5j towards EGFR and BRAFV600E^{V600E} with docking scores of −8.3 and −9.7 kcal/mol and −8.2 and −9.3 kcal/mol, respectively
