    Scientometric analysis of Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and Medical Imaging publications of Iran in the Web of Science and Scopus Databases

         Scientometric analysis should be given great heed in university and research centers for various research and educational reasons. This study aimed to carry out a scientometirc analysis of Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and Medical Imaging articles authored by Iranian researchers and published in journals indexed in the Web of Science and Scopus databases from 2001 to 2016. This is a cross-sectional descriptive study in which as many as 3335 documents authored by Iranian researchers were identified on the two citation databases using field-specific keywords. HistCite™, MS Excel and VOSviewer™ were used to analyze the data. The study discovered that in terms of publications in both citation databases, Iran is almost among the top 30 countries in quantitative and qualitative studies. Iran's contribution was, however, very low in both web of Science (0.32%) and Scopus (0.52%). It was found that “Iranian Journal of Radiation Research” and “Iranian Journal of Radiology” are indexed in both databases; Tehran University of Medical Sciences and University of Tehran are also the most contributing institutions in the databases. According to the findings of the study, it is recommended that Iranian researchers increase their scientific cooperation with researchers from other leading countries in these fields including the United States, Japan and Germany to gain a better quantity and quality of publications

    Carson McCullers’ The Member of the Wedding depicts the anxieties and issues of a tomboy approaching her adulthood and her difficulty making proper connection with her peers. Due to her seemingly peculiar behavior and ambivalence regarding issues of gender, Frankie is mostly left out from peer gatherings, which leaves her with more tensions. However, through her abnormal demeanor in terms of identity and gender, we see that she is dealing with high levels of desire. Drawing on the philosophical concepts of Gilles Deleuze regarding subjectivity, gender, and desire, this article argues that through her positive desire, Frankie becomes a nomad who sets foot on new horizons of experience, and her hopes for the upcoming wedding is an example of such longing for experience. It is also argued that while she is highly under the influence of affects, instead of striving for becoming a member of the wedding, Frankie yearns for novel encounters in order to become the wedding itself, and finally become reconciled to the world in its entirety

    Demographic developments in Mashhad and surrounding rural areas which are now considered urban break points It is well established that these areas have become centers of attraction for low-income immigrants who intend to migrate to Mashhad, as well as low-income urban strata that have previously lived in Mashhad. Since all four types of worn-out urban textures, including urban heritage, non-urban, marginal and rural urban textures, are the middle and lower decay habitats, "The 5000 unit project of Mehregan Town of Mashhad" has played an important role in the physical and functional organization of these tissues and responding to the needs of the poor. In view of the above, and several years after the project was inaugurated, the superstructure and infrastructure problems of the project are the subject of research in this research. The research method in this study was descriptive-analytical and applied. According to the number of households in the city that formed the statistical population of the study, and based on Cochran's formula, the sample population was 366 persons. Also, Delphi method has distributed 32 questionnaires to expert experts. Descriptive and inferential statistical analysis of completed questionnaires and experts has been done with the help of nonparametric and parametric statistical methods. The results of field surveys showed that the observed frequency of low-satisfaction residents was 222 and above all, so it is safe to say that 95% of respondents are not satisfied with their residence in Mehregan town. It is believed that the residential units constructed in Mehregan town of Mashhad have poor compliance with the standards and standards of sustainable housing.Desenvolvimentos demográficos em Mashhad e áreas rurais circunvizinhas que agora são consideradas pontos de ruptura urbana Está bem estabelecido que essas áreas se tornaram centros de atração para imigrantes de baixa renda que pretendem migrar para Mashhad, bem como estratos urbanos de baixa renda que anteriormente morava em Mashhad. Como todos os quatro tipos de texturas urbanas desgastadas, incluindo herança urbana, texturas urbanas não urbanas, marginais e rurais, são habitats de decadência média e baixa, "O projeto da unidade de 5000 unidades da cidade de Mehregan, Mashhad" desempenhou um papel importante. a organização física e funcional desses tecidos e a resposta às necessidades dos pobres. Tendo em vista o exposto, e vários anos após a inauguração do projeto, os problemas de superestrutura e infraestrutura do projeto são objeto de pesquisa nesta pesquisa. O método de pesquisa neste estudo foi descritivo-analítico e aplicado. De acordo com o número de domicílios da cidade que formaram a população estatística do estudo, e com base na fórmula de Cochran, a população da amostra era de 366 pessoas. Além disso, o método Delphi distribuiu 32 questionários para especialistas. A análise estatística descritiva e inferencial dos questionários e especialistas preenchidos foi realizada com a ajuda de métodos estatísticos não paramétricos e paramétricos. Os resultados de pesquisas de campo mostraram que a frequência observada de residentes de baixa satisfação era 222 e, acima de tudo, portanto, é seguro dizer que 95% dos entrevistados não estão satisfeitos com sua residência na cidade de Mehregan. Acredita-se que as unidades residenciais construídas na cidade de Mashhad, em Mehregan, não cumpram com os padrões e padrões de habitação sustentável

    Development of a Screening Tool for Functional Movements in Tennis

    Introduction: Despite the importance of the functional movement screening tool and the prevalence rate of 4.34 injuries per 1000 hours in tennis, there is no standard protocol for functional movement screening specific to tennis. Therefore, this study aims to develop a tool for screening functional movements in tennis.Methods: the statistical population for qualitative data in this research includes all experts and specialists in the field of tennis, including coaches, teachers, and physiotherapists, and 18 of them were randomly selected as a statistical sample. Data collection was done through structured interviews. The interviews were mainly held in tennis academies, doctors' and physiotherapists' offices, and university faculty members' offices. Six classes of tests that were comprehensive enough to achieve the desired tool were designed with eleven questions in the qualitative questionnaire for these six classes. After defining the initial tests, the interviews were coded; then the codings were controlled and verified. Interview data were analyzed through version 11 of MAXQDA.Results: The results of the interviews were analyzed to determine the qualified tests to be included in the tool.  The analytical process determined initial codes, and finally, 27 tests out of 108 potential tests were identified.Conclusion: It seems that this tool is suitable and practical with features such as simple scoring, acceptable reliability and validity, the possibility of implementation in a short time, and the ability to be used in various researches

    Prediction of Scapular Dyskinesis Through Electromyographic Indices of Scapulothoracic Muscles in Female Overhead Athletes

    Background: Shoulder joint function and the athletic performance of overhead athletes are influenced by scapular dyskinesis (SD) due to its high prevalence among these athletes and the motor interaction between the scapula and the arm. The present study investigated the prediction of SD through the electromyographic indices of scapulothoracic muscles in female overhead athletes. Methods: The present descriptive-correlational study was carried out on 60 female volleyball, handball, basketball, and badminton athletes. The lateral scapular slide test was used to examine their SD. The required electromyography and electrogoniometry data was recorded simultaneously to measure the activity and onset time of scapulothoracic muscles, including upper trapezius (UT), lower trapezius (LT), and serratus anterior (SA). The collected data was analyzed using Spearman correlation and multiple regression tests. Results: Significant correlations were found between all electromyographic variables and SD (P<0.01). The regression effects of all predictive variables on SD were significant (P=0.001). In terms of predictive power, UT/SA co-contraction (β=0.765), UT/LT co-contraction (β=0.716), LT onset time (β=0.672), LT activity (β=0.612), and SA onset time (β=0.576) had the highest regression effects on SD, respectively. The analysis of the study model showed that there was a strong correlation (r=0.694) between the predictive variables and SD and that the independent variables predicted 48% of the variance. Conclusion: The presence of imbalance in the scapulothoracic muscles of overhead athletes with SD indicates that athletes should be monitored by coaches, physiotherapists, and physicians for SD screening. It is also necessary to carry out prospective studies to examine and explore other variables related to SD

    Histological Study of the Placenta in Neonates With Intrauterine Growth Retardation

    Objective: Placenta is the maternofetal contact zone, provided by normal membranes and endometrium, for which the intrauterine fetal life depends on. Regarding the importance of placenta in embryonic period, this study aims at investigating the histopathological changes of placenta in newborns with intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR). Materials and Methods: This study was performed on two groups (control and experimental) of pregnant women with IUGR fetus in the Histological Department of Medical School of Azad University, Tabriz. In the experimental group, 30 samples of IUGR placentas were examined. The samples were first fixed in formalin, embedded in paraffinized mold, and cut into 5 μm sections. After that, the samples were prepared for staining with Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E), trichrome, and PAS techniques. Results: Findings showed the increase of syncytial knots and fibrinoid, the presence of villous fibrosis, and decrease of glycogen deposit in the experimental group. In addition, statistical investigations suggested that placental and fetal weights in the experimental group were significantly lower than control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The results obtained from this study showed that fetal placental and birth weights were lower than control group. Pathological results showed increase of syncytial knots and fibrinoid in the experimental group in comparison to control group

    Study of Nitrate Transfer in Corn Fodder Cultivation using Treated Urban Wastewater as Reuse water (Case Study: Neyshabur Sewage Treatment Plant Effluent)

    Agricultural irrigation with treated wastewater effluent may be used for crop production, but due to elevated of certain contaminants (e.g. nitrate or nitrite) may adversely impact the quality of groundwater. This research was carried out to investigate the transfer of nitrate in deep soil that was planted with corn fodder crop using treated effluent from the sewage treatment plant in the city of Neyshabur during 2012-2013. The study data were collected in pot cultivation with the same condition and under a completely randomized design. The irrigation with wastewater effluent and conventional raw water was performed at four levels comprised of: 100% irrigation capacity and 80% irrigation capacity for two irrigation periods of 8 and 10 days and 3 replications. The result of this study showed that irrigation levels and irrigation periods affected the absorption of nitrate by corn. Comparison of the amount of nitrogen in wastewater effluent and conventional raw water before and after irrigation showed that the nitrate absorption in the plant was low (below the standard level) and there is no significant health issue for the users of the corn forage components in the food chain. Also, the average nitrate concentration (on mass basis) of wastewater effluent after irrigation (drainage water) was about 64 mg/kg and the nitrate content in the soil under irrigation was about 59 mg/kg. Irrigation of corn with treated wastewater does not increase the health hazards of the crop and the soil, but there is still a high risk of nitrate pollution for the water resources in the area

    Analysis of unsteady mixed convection of Cu–water nanofluid in an oscillatory, lid-driven enclosure using lattice Boltzmann method

    The unsteady physics of laminar mixed convection in a lid-driven enclosure filled with Cu–water nanofluid is numerically investigated. The top wall moves with constant velocity or with a temporally sinusoidal function, while the other walls are fixed. The horizontal top and bottom walls are, respectively, held at the low and high temperatures, and the vertical walls are assumed to be adiabatic. The governing equations along with the boundary conditions are solved through D2Q9 fluid flow and D2Q5 thermal lattice Boltzmann network. The effects of Richardson number and volume fractions of nanoparticles on the fluid flow and heat transfer are investigated. For the first time in the literature, the current study considers the mechanical power required for moving the top wall of the enclosure under various conditions. This reveals that the power demand increases if the enclosure is filled with a nanofluid in comparison with that with a pure fluid. Keeping a constant heat transfer rate, the required power diminishes by implementing a temporally sinusoidal velocity on the top wall rather than a constant velocity. Reducing frequency of the wall oscillation leads to heat transfer enhancement. Similarly, dropping Richardson number and raising the volume fraction of the nanoparticles enhance the heat transfer rate. Through these analyses, the present study provides a physical insight into the less investigated problem of unsteady mixed convection in enclosures with oscillatory walls

    Changes in monocarboxylate transporter 1 and p53 gene expression by aerobic interval training in the experimental colon carcinoma of mouse

    Background: Recent evidence suggests that regular exercise training is effective in treating various aspects of cancer. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the effect of 8 weeks of aerobic interval training on monocarboxylate transporter 1 (MCT1) protein and expression of p53 gene in tumor of colon cancer mice. Methods: The present study was conducted experimentally from May to October 2014 at the Exercise Physiology Research Center of Baqiyatallah University of Medical Sciences, Tehran, Iran. Twenty BALB/c mice of age 3 weekly with a mean weight of 17.6±1.4 grams were selected and randomly divided into 4 groups: control (N=5), interval training (N=5), colon tumor (N=5) and interval training+colon tumor (N=5). The cancer was induced by subcutaneous injection of a carcinogenic azoxymethane (10 mg/kg) once a week for three weeks, and aerobic exercise was performed with rodent treadmill for 8 weeks and 5 days a week. Forty-eight hours after the last training session, the mice were cleared and colon removed. Measurement of MCT1 protein was performed by ELISA and commercial kits (ZellBio, Germany). Real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used to determine the relative expression of p53 gene. Data were analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis test and Mann-Whitney U tests. Results: The results showed a significant increase in MCT1 protein (P< 0.01) and significant reductions in p53 gene expression (P< 0.001) in a colon tumor group compared to other groups. Also, there was a significant decrease in the level of MCT1 protein (P< 0.01) and significant increase in p53 gene expression (P< 0.001) in the exercise training group and exercise training+colon tumor group compared to control group and the tumor group was observed. Conclusion: The findings of the study showed that aerobic interval training reduced the protein content of MCT1 and increased the expression of p53 gene (as a tumor inhibitor) in the tumor of colon cancer mice. These factors are portions of the mechanisms involved in cancer cell metabolism by which aerobic interval training shows part of its therapeutic effect in colon cancer
