The Role of National Cultures in Shaping the Corporate Management Cultures: A Three-Country Theoretical Analysis

    Get PDF
This chapter explores answers to the question that how national cultures influence the management cultures of organizations. In this case, therefore, differences and similarities among the national cultures of Pakistan, Mexico, and the USA are under investigation in order to analyze the impacts of such differences and similarities on the management cultures of organizations located in these countries. The outcomes of the analysis based on the existing literature suggest that differences in national cultures greatly influence the way organizations are managed in these countries. These findings present cross-cultural management challenges for organizations working in these countries, especially when they want to build trilateral or bilateral business partnerships. This is in addition to the fact that the USA and Mexico are geographically far from Pakistan

An IOT based Solar Integrated Home Security System by using GSM Module and Raspberry pi

At present the world advancement depends on its technology. IoT (Internet of Things) is the latest technology which connects the devices over a network using cloud computing and web applications to for efficient operation. Home security systems comprise a GSM module and Raspberry Pi with relay which is door security sensors. These systems can response rapidly when burglar intrudes in a home, office etc. And alerts the respective holder. Suspected activities are conveyed to user through SMS or CALL or SNAP SHOT of the burglar to the mobile by using GSM technology the total system is operated a single credit card sized computer that is Raspberry Pi

Mathematical model for a heat pump dryer for aromatic plant

    Get PDF
A mathematical model was developed to evaluate the performance of heat pump dryer for drying of aromatic plants. The model consists of three sub-models; namely, drying model, heat pump model, and performance model. Drying model was developed based on mass balance, heat balance, heat transfer and drying rate equations. Heat pump sub-model consists of some theoretical and empirical equations for estimating the parameters of evaporator, compressor, condenser and expansion valve. The performance sub-model was the equations for prediction of drying efficiency, COP (coefficient of performance), MER (moisture evaporating rate) and SMER (specific moisture evaporating rate). The model was validated with the experimental data. The experiments was conducted in a fixed bed drying of valerian roots (Valeriana officinalis L.) in cooperation with a agricultural company (Agrargenossenschaft Nöbdenitz e.G., Thüringen) in Thüringen, Germany. Data logger was used to record the temperature, relative humidity, humidity ratio and enthalpy of air at different positions of the dryer equipped with different types of sensors. The average drying air temperature was 36.84°C and relative humidity was about 20%. About 89 hours were required to reduce the moisture content of valerian roots from 89 to 9% (wb). The simulated results (temperature, relative humidity and moisture content) agreed well with the experimental results. The average COP, MER and SMER and drying efficiency were 5.45, 140.03 kg/h, 0.038 kg/kWh, and 78.23%, respectively. This model may be used for design data for heat pump dryer for drying of aromatic plants as well as other heat sensitive crops

Leadership: Communicating strategically in the 21st century

    Get PDF
This paper seeks to discuss the functions of communication in ensuring effective leadership in the 21st century organization. The definition concept of leadership often intertwines and this provides various dimensions which create challenges to define leadership which encompasses all traits. Further, this paper later expanded from concept and definitions of leadership to leadership communication models. This paper recommended that leadership is about setting direction and aligning people to desired direction.Significantly, future leaders must be able to ensure that the subordinates are treated as members of the organization, whereby consistency in providing sound leadership would determine employee motivation and performance

The perceptions of users regarding multimedia principles in mobile-based Japanese language learning

    Get PDF
This study aimed to explore the perceptions of users regarding the use of seven multimedia principles in mobile-based Japanese language learning. Students and lecturers expounded their views on these seven multimedia principles: Generative Learning, Spatial Contiguity, Temporal Contiguity, Coherence, Modality, Redundancy and Personalization. A single group with intervening mobile-based Japanese language learning design was used to test each of the multimedia principles. The participants consisted of 62 undergraduates and three Multimedia lecturers. A mixed method approach was employed where questionnaires and interviews were used as data collection tools. The findings revealed that a majority of the respondents agreed that the multimedia principles were appropriate for application in mobile-based Japanese language learning, except for the Personalization and Redundancy principles. The respondents expressed the need for incorporating on-screen text and formal style text in a mobile learning environment. The findings of this study can facilitate instructors and developers to develop an optimal mobile-based learning experience for Japanese language learners

Burden of Proof and Presumption of Innocence in the Prosecution of Illicit Enrichment with Reference to the Jordanian Legislation

    Get PDF
It is recognized that the burden of proof in criminal justice is on the shoulder of the prosecution. Likewise, the presumption of innocence is a fundamental principle of human rights concerning fair trials, rights of person to remain silent and principle of innocence until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubts. However, the burden of proof can be shifted from the prosecutor to the defendant in some cases like in cases of money laundering, tax evasion, smuggling, terrorism and illicit enrichment. Hence, this article argues that the right of accused must be balanced against the right of society. This article found that some scholars and in some jurisdictions reject the shifting of onus of proof to the defendant to protect the fundamental provisions of human rights. This article also argues that the burden of proof should be understood as an instrument to curb corruption and deprive corruptors from the proceeds of crimes rather than the exaggeration the presumption of innocence. Keywords: burden of proof; presumption of innocence; prosecution; illicit enrichment

    Get PDF
A research work was carried to find out the effect of planting depths, potassium levels and their interaction during the year 2012. The corms of tuberose were planted at a depth of 5, 10, and 15 cm and were fertilized with four levels of potassium 0, 50, 100 and 150 Kg of K2O per hectare using K2SO4 as a source of K2O. Result of the study revealed that planting depth of 15 cm significantly increased length of spike (56.9 cm), number of florets spike-1 (54.84), and plant height (103.13) cm. Planting depth of 5cm cause decreased number of days to last floret opening (180.08). Potassium level of 150 kg of K2O ha-1 length of spike (55.24 cm), number of florets spike-1 (49.2) and plant height (100.29 cm). Planting depth of 15 cm and fertilizer application of 150 kg of K2O ha-1proved to be superior regarding length of spike opening (64.4cm), number of florets spike-1 (62.2) and plant height (106.20 cm). Hence planting tuberose at a depth of 15cm and fertilizer application of 150 kg of K2O ha-1 is recommended for commercial cultivation of tuberose.
