Cyclical Mackey Glass Model for Oil Bull Seasonal

    Get PDF
In this article, we propose an innovative way for modelling oil bull seasonals taking into account seasonal speculations in oil markets. Since oil prices behave very seasonally during two periods of the year (summer and winter), we propose a modification of Mackey Glass equation by taking into account the rhythm of seasonal frequencies. Using monthly data for WTI oil prices, Seasonal Cyclical Mackey Glass estimates indicate that seasonal interactions between heterogeneous speculators with different expectations may be responsible for pronounced swings in prices in both periods. Moreover, the seasonal frequency  / 3(referring to a period of 6 months) appears to be persistent over time.Oil bull seasonal, Seasonal speculations, Heterogeneous agents model, Seasonal Cyclical Mackey Glass models.

Automatic Classification of Bright Retinal Lesions via Deep Network Features

The diabetic retinopathy is timely diagonalized through color eye fundus images by experienced ophthalmologists, in order to recognize potential retinal features and identify early-blindness cases. In this paper, it is proposed to extract deep features from the last fully-connected layer of, four different, pre-trained convolutional neural networks. These features are then feeded into a non-linear classifier to discriminate three-class diabetic cases, i.e., normal, exudates, and drusen. Averaged across 1113 color retinal images collected from six publicly available annotated datasets, the deep features approach perform better than the classical bag-of-words approach. The proposed approaches have an average accuracy between 91.23% and 92.00% with more than 13% improvement over the traditional state of art methods.Comment: Preprint submitted to Journal of Medical Imaging | SPIE (Tue, Jul 28, 2017

NLO QCD corrections to single vector-like top partner production in association with top quark at the LHC

The single vector-like top partner hadroproduction in association with top quark in the five and the six-flavour schemes at the LHC is investigated. The inclusive cross section and the differential distributions are evaluated for many benchmark scenarios at leading and next-to-leading orders, both for fixed-order and fixed-order matched to parton shower. The associated Higgs production with a top quark pair, where the final state arises from the decay of the vector-like top partner into a Higgs boson and a top quark, is examined

Theoretical calculations for electron impact ionization of atoms and molecules

    Get PDF
In the last twenty years, significant progress has been made for the theoretical treatment of electron impact ionization (e,2e) of atoms and molecules and, for some cases, very nice agreement between experiment and theory has been achieved. In particular, excellent agreement between theory and experiment and theory has been achieved for ionization of hydrogen and helium. However, agreement between experiment and theory is not nearly as good for ionization of larger atoms and molecules. In the first part of this dissertation, different theoretical approaches will be employed to study the triply differential cross section (TDCS) for low and intermediate energy electron-impact ionization of Neon and Argon for different orbital states. There is a very recent interest in studying ionization of Laser aligned atoms in order to get a better understanding about electron impact ionization of molecules. In the next part of this dissertation, results will be presented for electron-impact ionization of three laser aligned atoms, Mg, Ca, and Na. The comparison between the theory and experiment showed that our three body distorted wave (3DW) model gave excellent agreement with experiment in the scattering plane but very poor agreement perpendicular to the scattering plane. An explanation for this poor agreement out of the scattering plane has been provided by comparing our theoretical results with those of the time depended close coupling (TDCC) model and this explanation is also provided in this dissertation. Recently, significant attention has been directed towards obtaining a better understanding of electron-impact ionization of molecules which are significantly more challenging than atoms. In the last part of this dissertation, results will be presented for electron-impact ionization of three different molecules (N₂, H₂O, and CH₄ ) which have been studied comprehensively using different theoretical approximations for different types of geometries. The published papers in section two contain a detailed analysis and discussion for each of these topics --Abstract, page iv

    Get PDF
Heat transfer by natural convection phenomenon has been studied by diverse researchers for several geometries and different boundary conditions. Different approaches were used such as numerical, analytical, and experimental approaches. In this chapter, we are going to review the most common published research on object shapes in natural convection heat transfer with their obtained numerical, semiempirical, and/or experimental correlations for the last two decades. These correlations are very important for engineering applications. This chapter will be stressed on cylinders in different orientations with cross sections such as circular, square, triangular, vertical, and horizontal coils and array of cylinders of different cross sections

Sequences of consecutive squares on quartic elliptic curves

Let C:y2=ax4+bx2+cC: y^2=ax^4+bx^2+c, be an elliptic curve defined over Q\mathbb Q. A set of rational points (xi,yi)∈C(Q)(x_i,y_i) \in C(\mathbb Q), i=1,2,⋯ ,i=1,2,\cdots, is said to be a sequence of consecutive squares if xi=(u+i)2x_i= (u + i)^2, i=1,2,⋯i=1,2,\cdots, for some u∈Qu\in \mathbb Q. Using ideas of Mestre, we construct infinitely many elliptic curves CC with sequences of consecutive squares of length at least 66. It turns out that these 6 rational points are independent. We then strengthen this result by proving that for a fixed 66-term sequence of consecutive squares, there are infinitely many elliptic curves CC with the latter sequence forming the xx-coordinates of six rational points in C(Q)C(\mathbb Q)

Eventual Stability of pure polynomials over the rational field

A polynomial with rational coefficients is said to be pure with respect to a rational prime pp if its Newton polygon has one slope. In this article, we prove that the number of irreducible factors of the nn-th iterate of a pure polynomial over the rational field Q\mathbb Q is bounded independent of nn. In other words, we show that pure polynomials are {\em eventually stable}. Consequently, several eventual stability results available in literature follow; including the eventual stability of the polynomial xd+c∈Q[x]x^d+c\in\mathbb{Q}[x], where c≠0,1c\ne 0,1, is not a reciprocal of an integer. In addition, we establish the dynamical irreducibility, i.e., the irreducibility of all iterates, of a subfamily of pure polynomials, namely Dumas polynomials with respect to a rational prime pp under a mild condition on the degree. This provides iterative techniques to produce irreducible polynomials in Q[x]\mathbb{Q}[x] by composing pure polynomials of different degrees. During the course of this work, we characterize all polynomials whose degrees are large enough that are not pure, yet they possess pure iterates. This implies the existence of polynomials whose shifts are all dynamically irreducible in Z[x]\mathbb{Z}[x]

A Tutorial on Speech Synthesis Models

For Speech Synthesis, the understanding of the physical and mathematical models of speech is essential. Hence, Speech Modeling is a large field, and is well documented in literature. The aim in this paper is to provide a background review of several speech models used in speech synthesis, specifically the Source Filter Model, Linear Prediction Model, Sinusoidal Model, and Harmonic/Noise Model. The most important models of speech signals will be described starting from the earlier ones up until the last ones, in order to highlight major improvements over these models. It would be desirable a parametric model of speech, that is relatively simple, flexible, high quality, and robust in re-synthesis. Emphasis will be given in Harmonic / Noise Model, since it seems to be more promising and robust model of speech. (C) 2015 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V

    ANN for Parkinson’s Disease Prediction

    Get PDF
Parkinson's Disease (PD) is a long-term degenerative disorder of the central nervous system that mainly affects the motor system. The symptoms generally come on slowly over time. Early in the disease, the most obvious are shaking, rigidity, slowness of movement, and difficulty with walking. Doctors do not know what causes it and finds difficulty in early diagnosing the presence of Parkinson’s disease. An artificial neural network system with back propagation algorithm is presented in this paper for helping doctors in identifying PD. Previous research with regards to predict the presence of the PD has shown accuracy rates up to 93% [1]; however, accuracy of prediction for small classes is reduced. The proposed design of the neural network system causes a significant increase of robustness. It is also has shown that networks recognition rates reached 100%
