WiFi are easily available almost everywhere nowadays. Due to this, there is increasing interest in harnessing this technology for purposes other than communication. Therefore, this research was carried out with the main idea of using WiFi in developing an efficient, low cost control system for small office home office (SOHO) indoor environment. The main objective of the research is to develop a proof of concept that WiFi received signal strength indicator (RSSI) can be harnessed and used to develop a control system. The control system basically will help to save energy in an intelligent manner with a very minimum cost for the controller circuit. There are two main parts in the development of the system. First is extracting the RSSI monitoring feed information and analyzing it for designing the control system. The second is the development of the controller circuit for real environment. The simple yet inexpensive controller was tested in an indoor environment and results showed successful operation of the circuit developed

The Ninth Malaysian Plan and agriculture extension officer competency: a combination for intensification of paddy industry in Malaysia

    Get PDF
Agriculture interest in Malaysia has risen. This can be proved through government plans stated in The Ninth Malaysian Plan. One of the agriculture sectors that can be benefited through this plan is paddy industry. It is expected in 2010, the income generated by paddy industry will increase up to 988 million per year, thus depicts the potential it has. Paddy industry in The Ninth Malaysian Plan will be boosted through land rehabilitation and consolidation, increase number on R&D, paddy farmers will be exposed to more agriculture trainings, bigger credit allocation and better drainage and irrigation systems. In order to achieve this, the competency of agriculture extension officer is needed. Based on the previous studies, communication training is indeed important aspects that need to be intensified to strengthen the competency aspect of the agriculture extension officers. Previous studies also has show consistent findings that job performance, attitude, skills, knowledge, quality and quantity of works, use of technology and demography factors play important roles in cultivating competency to agriculture extension officers

Determination of Supply Chain Performance and Market Performance: Impact of Supply Chain Activities in Indonesian Crude Palm Oil Industry

    Get PDF
Supply chain practices are crucial in determining the performance of firms. The current study investigates impact of supply chain practices for determining the market and supply chain performance in crude palm oil industry of Indonesia. The supply chain activities were taken from previous literature including supplier relationship, customer relationships and waste reduction. The objective of the study was to determine the impact of these crucial supply chain activities on market performance and supply chain performance in Indonesian crude palm oil producers. Data was collected from palm oil producers in Jakarta Indonesia, response rate was observed as 77%. The data was analyzed by using AMOS SEM technique. The relationship was examined between constructs and found mixed results, study revealed few practices has significantly associated with market performance and supply chain performance and did not find any significant influence between supplier relation and market performance; waste reduction and market performance was rejected statistically

Experimental implementation of smart glove incorporating piezoelectric actuator for hand tremor Control

    Get PDF
This paper examines the effectiveness of a glove specifically designed to compensate human hand tremor by incorporating a type of piezoelectric actuator. In this paper, the experimental results are divided into two parts involving actual human hand tremor and model hand-arm tremor. Both experiments were done using same measurement equipments, experimental setup and programming to evaluate the effectiveness of the glove in reducing the hand tremor. The initial experiment was done by measuring human hand tremor to determine the coherence frequency while other was performed on a hand-arm model with artificial vibration exciter to validate the response of the actual hand tremor. A number of selected sample frequencies were chosen for the experiment. Next, a piezoelectric actuator was employed as the main active element for the compensation of the tremors in both systems. The results presented both in time and frequency domains show that most tremors are readily suppressed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed systems. They are considered as useful data that can be used for further investigation into the technique of effective human hand tremor suppression, particularly applicable to patients suffering from uncontrollable shaking or trembling such as in Parkinson's disease, white hand syndrome, etc. Subsequently, the output of this investigation can be also used to assist in developing advanced control strategies that involve the generation of controlled signals as the input for the piezoelectric actuator or other similar device to suppress the hand tremor. The presented system is notable for simplicity and low cost

The Effect of Supply Chain Management on Indonesian Pharmaceutical Industry

    Get PDF
The objective of this research is to inspect the consequence of effective SCM in terms of delivery, after-sales services and responsiveness on customer retention along with the mediating role of customer relationship on the Indonesian Pharmaceutical company. 5point Likert scale is used to collect the data. Random sampling technique is used on the 200 respondents from Indonesian medical officers. PLS3 is used to analyze the data. The findings of this concluded aftersales services, deliveries and responsiveness have been positively significant associated to CR and also customer relationship positively influenced on C. retention. The study gives to fill the lack of investigation on the SCM service to the C. retention between general consultants from Indonesian private consulting room

    Omni Directional Indoor Mobile Robot

    Get PDF
This paper presents an approach which uses an omni–directional robot for indoor use. The use of the omni-directional robot describes a ‘no head no tail’ robot. This will reduce movement recovery in time and space. In additions its mechanism makes it possible to run as a reactive robot without any complex programming. This robot is designed to use an algorithm control (reactive) based on the vision control system. The aim of this project is to design an indoor mobile robot for jogging partner operation

Active tremor control in 4-DOFs biodynamic hand model

    Get PDF
This paper exhibits the performance of the active vibration method in suppressing human hand tremor. The Active Force Control (AFC) and classic Proportional-Derivative (PD) controller are proposed to control the linear electromagnet actuator and applied onto a four Degree-of-Freedoms (4-DOFs) biodynamic model of the human hand to investigate the performance of the controller. The PD controller was designed by using heuristic and optimization method. The Signal Constraint block available in Simulink Response Optimization Toolbox was employed as an optimization technique. Compared to the heuristic method, this proves to be a far more time and energy efficient approach to obtain satisfactory results. Findings show that the combination of AFC and classic PD controller provides a significant improvement in reducing tremor error. The simulation work could be used as the initial stage to study and develop an anti tremor device
