The overview of unmanned turret designs with remotely controlled weapon systems

W artykule przedstawiono, w sposób analityczny, systemy wież bezzałogowych ze zdalnie sterowanym uzbrojeniem czołowych producentów światowych. Ten rodzaj uzbrojenia przeznaczony jest dla kołowych transporterów opancerzonych, pojazdów rozpoznawczych i bojowych wozów piechoty. Zaprezentowane zostały również osiągnięcia polskiego zaplecza naukowo-badawczego i przemysłu zbrojeniowego oraz kierunki rozwoju tego rodzaju systemów uzbrojenia.The paper includes an analytical overview of unmanned turret designs with an integrated remotely controlled weapon system offered by world manufacturers. Such type of weapon systems is designated for wheeled armoured transporters, reconnaissance vehicles and infantry combat vehicles. Moreover some achievements of the Polish defence industry and its scientific & research background are presented together with the future trends of such weapon systems

Ordnance in time of conspiracy and Warsaw's Uprising

Mijająca 70. rocznica wybuchu Powstania Warszawskiego jest doskonałą okazją do przypomnienia nie tylko działań bojowych, ale również organizacji ich technicznego zabezpieczenia. Autor, uczestnik powstania, na podstawie własnych przeżyć i materiałów źródłowych opisał, jak w warunkach konspiracyjnych, przed i po rozpoczęciu Powstania Warszawskiego funkcjonował system wytwarzania i zaopatrywania żołnierzy polskiego podziemia w uzbrojenie i inny sprzęt do prowadzenia walki. Prezentuje wiele szczegółów i zdarzeń z tamtego okresu dotychczas mało znanych. Przedstawia sylwetki bohaterskich konstruktorów i producentów uzbrojenia i sprzętu wojskowego w warunkach konspiracji oraz w trakcie Powstania Warszawskiego.The 70th anniversary of the Warsaw's Uprising is an occasion to memorise not only the combat activities but also their technical support organisation. The author as a participant of the Uprising described the organisation of a system supplying the ordnance to soldiers of Country Army, People's Army and Peasant's Battalions basing on his personal experience and other source data. There are presented some facts and details of that time which were not well known. There are many heroic people presented who developed and produced the ordnance pieces in conditions of conspiracy and during the Warsaw's Uprising

The development of new generation of armoured vehicles of M-ATV class has started on the base of experience from those missions and is presented in the paper

Some experiences of technical problems of Polish Military Contingents in Iraq and Afganistan

W artykule przedstawiono niektóre doświadczenia Polskich Kontyngentów Wojskowych z działań militarnych i stabilizacyjnych w Iraku i Afganistanie, zwłaszcza dotyczących problemów technicznych, ich uzbrojenia i wyposażenia technicznego. Działania w warunkach specyficznych, klimatu, rejonu i metod stosowanych przez przeciwnika określały poziomy techniczne przygotowania poszczególnych naszych kontyngentów w misjach. Zebrane doświadczenia dały podstawy do uzawodowienia Sił Zbrojnych RP oraz ich modernizacji technicznej.Some conclusions drawn from the experience of the Polish Military Contingents participating in military and stabilising missions in Iraq and Afghanistan are presented in the paper, especially taking into account technical problems and technical equipment and armaments deployed. Operations were carried out in specific conditions when considering the climate, region and methods used by the enemy and they had determined technical levels of preparation for particular Polish contingents. Collected experience was a base for the professionalisation and technical upgrading of the Polish Armed Forces

Zdolność ochronna nowego typu zmodyfikowanych płytek ceramicznych Al2O3

Below we would like to present the results of applied technological process of obtaining small-sized and large-sized high-strength Al2O3 special ceramic plates. The ceramic plates, produced this way, were fired with B-32 type 14.5 mm amour-piercing bullets. Besides, the Al2O3 ceramics together with other light materials were used in models of composite armour, which was placed in a frame and without a frame during firing. Furthermore, in the RHA witness plate the bulge, indentation and prominence, formed from cracked parts of bullet and ceramics, were measured. The surface mass of composite armours’ models, tested as well in a frame as without a frame, was determined.Przedstawiono wyniki procesu technologicznego otrzymywania małogabarytowych i wielkogabarytowych płytek ceramicznych specjalnych Al2O3 o dużej wytrzymałości. Wykonane w ten sposób płytki ceramiczne poddano ostrzałowi 14,5 mm pociskami przeciwpancernymi typu B-32. Ponadto płytki ceramiczne, razem z innymi warstwami lekkich materiałów, zostały użyte w modelach pancerza kompozytowego, który był podczas ostrzału umieszczany w ramce i bez ramki. Określano w pancerzu „świadek” typu RHA, wybrzuszenie, wgłębienie oraz wzgórek utworzony z popękanych części pocisku i ceramiki. Wyznaczono masę powierzchniową modeli pancerzy kompozytowych testowanych w ramce i bez ramki

Protective capability of modified Al2O3 ceramic plater

Below we would like to present the results of applied technological process of obtaining small and large high-strength Al2O3 ceramic plates. The small-sized and large-sized one-layered plates and one-layered and double-layered small-sized plates produced this way were fired with amour-piercing B-32 type 12.7 mm bullets. Additionally, small-sized one-layered Al2O3, Al2O3 + spinel and multilayered ceramic plates were tested under the same conditions

Patella osteochondritis dissecans end stage: The osteochondral mosaicplasty option.

INTRODUCTION: Patellar damage during osteochondritis dissecans of the knee is rare. There were two objectives to this study: evaluate the functional results of surgical treatment by mosaicplasty in this disease as well as evaluate articular surface reconstruction and cylindrical bone plugs incorporation. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Six consecutive cases of patella osteochondritis dissecans in young athletes were treated using mosaicplasty by the same senior surgeon between 2002 and 2007. All these cases presented ICRS stage IV osteochondritis dissecans with an empty defect lesion. The average age at diagnosis was 20.5 \ub1 9.2 years old. The pre- and post-operative clinical evaluation was based on the IKDC subjective knee evaluation, the Lysholm and Tegner scores, CT arthrography and MRI. RESULTS: Evaluation of the functional results of surgical treatment at a mean follow-up of 26 months showed an average IKDC subjective evaluation score of 66.3, a Lysholm score of 85 and a Tegner score of 5.7 (37.2, 58.3 and 3.5 respectively before surgery). The radiological evaluation showed articular surface reconstruction with satisfying congruency and good incorporation of the graft into the bone at the receptor site, except in one patient in whom a 5mm diameter cartilage defect and a loose body were identified. DISCUSSION: Osteochondral grafting with the mosaicplasty technique has been shown to be effective and give satisfying functional results. The problem of the per-operative cylindrical bone plugs choice requires to be addressed during the procedure course itself, according to the patella lesion location
