This study focused on the formative processes of the learner's agency in the classrooms of the literature. From the results of quantitative research carried out by Miyamoto (2000), it was found that learner's responses partially influenced on the collective's and a teacher's evaluation, and also that renounce the responses of the first reading and try to restructure reaction as admitted by the teacher and the other learners. However, the exact procedures of how the learner's response in those studies remained unclear. This study sought to further clarify these procedures, and also tried to determine what kind of factors affect when learners made readings. In cnclusion, when the learners made readings, they are concious of the various relationships in the classrooms. Then, it becomes a problem by what agency constitued in the scene which builds reading, and how learners try to concern the study. The learners have more than one agency. By how the learners recognize a scene, the difference what agency constituent is found occurs. And it causes learners to be actualized the different learnings

Though power theory has been studied for a long time, some problems remain unresolved. This paper discusses basic problems in power theory. First, how can we define the concept of power, which has analytical effectiveness and gets the true nature of power? Through criticizing power theory as expectation theory, this paper defines the concept of power not as the expectation but as the possibility. Second, how can we construct general analytical framework and types of power? This paper shows the general analytical framework and its elements. Various types of power can be constructed by referring to each elements. Third, how can we construct analytical framework of organization and whole society, which are main field of power phenomena? Though organization is a typical system of power, whole society is not an organization. This paper describes whole society as a complex system of state power and the other powers

This paper discusses on systematization of sociological theories, or problems in frames of reference to systematize sociological knowledge. At present we often systematize sociological theories by referring to system of concepts, which are from action and interaction to structure and change. But because the system of concepts is ambiguously responding to system of objects and/or to perspectives, in particular, methodological standpoints, we are faced with difficult problems, which are our missing important theoretical points in the system of concepts, and restricting possibilities of the systems of objects and perspectives. This paper tries to show clearly the points and possibilities. First, the theoretical points are that concepts must be free from the differentiation of micro and macro-level, and that micro-structure, relations among structures, and macro-action must be set into the system of concepts. Second, the system of objects consists of system of locales, agents, problems, and dimensions. Each agent, individual and collective, acts and interacts to solve problems, and each action and interaction includes dimensions. Third, the perspectives consist of methodological standpoints, central concepts and logical constructions, for example, paradox. Each perspective must compete in analysing the system of objects by using the system of concepts

Anthony Giddens, who is one of the most famous sociologists in contemporary Britain, has published many books since 1971. This article discusses basic directions in the development of macro-social theory, centering on his recent works, especially Social Theory and Modern Sociology published in 1987. We can find two basic directions. They are "History and Movement" and "Action and Structure". The former means that it is necessary for the development of macro-social theory to analyse the historical changes, and social movement is the central concept in it. The latter means that the theoretical main theme of macro-social theory is how we can mediate action and structure. There are three points in this direction. Firstly, we must think plural levels of structures. Secondly, we must construct the theory of social process. Thirdly, we must place "movement" as a central concept of macro-social theoretical system

We are faced with three problems which are interrelated, when we try to construct the sociology of gender-problems. First, what areas does it cover, and what position does it occupy in the system of sociology? Second, how can it be constructed systematically? Third, how can gender-inequalities be analysed, which is one of central problems in it? This paper discusses these problems and comes to some conclusions as follows while centrally referring to recent works of Anthony Giddens, who is one of the most important sociologists in modern British sociology. First, the sociology of gender-problems deals with making of gender, patriarchy, gender-inequalities, sexuality, AIDS, and prostitution, etc. Second, it covers every area in the system of sociology, and it has the system which is from action and interaction to structure and change in various social areas. Third, when we analyse gender-inequlities, we must focus on how sexuality, gender, and inequality are interrelated
