Interactions of Cosmic Rays in the primary energy range (0.1-1) PeV studied by the ARGO-YBJ Experiment

    Get PDF
The ARGO-YBJ detector layout, features and location offer a unique possibility for a detailed study of several characteristics of the hadronic component of the cosmic ray flux in an energy range hardly accessed by direct measurements. The proton-air cross section has already been measured by ARGO-YBJ in an energy region up to ~ 100 TeV where the primary cosmic ray composition is sufficiently well known for that measure to be unbiased. The analog readout of the RPC signals now provides new tools to measure the lateral distribution of particle density (LDF) as close as a few meters from the core and to investigate with unprecedented resolution the shower time structure. This allows to extend the hadronic interaction and mass composition studies up to ~PeV energies in the laboratory rest frame. Moreover, it is shown that the LDF of detected showers can be properly described, even very close to the shower axis, by a NKG-like function, whose shape parameter is clearly related to the shower age and can be used for studying the mass composition of cosmic rays

Abstrack: This research aimed to describe students learning result by applying approach open-ended problem. Type of this research is a pre-experimental, with intact-group comparison design. The population and sample of this research is students class VIII at SMPN 17 Pekanbaru, total of 240 students. Sample of this using two class with technik random sampling, experimental class and control class. The data in this research is a score of absorption and effectivity learning physics by implementation of approach open-ended problem and analysis of the data uses descriptive analysis. The result of this research, score absorption and effectivity of students there is a difference, score average absorption and effectivity is 74,5 % at experimental class and then 62 % at control class. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation approach open-ended problem able to improve the learning result of student at SMPN 17 Pekanbar

The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in Physics Learning Outcomes class X SMA N 4 Pekanbaru using model Inquiry Training. The research was conducted of the month April 2017 to July 2017. The form of this study was Quasi Experimental Design with design Intact Group comparasion. The sample of research in class X1 and X2 with the number of students 38 and 37 students in SMA N 4 Pekanbaru. Where in class X2 as experiment class and class X1 as control class. The research instrument used is test result of cognitive learning. Data collection techniques are tests of cognitive learning outcomes. Data analysis techniques used are descriptive and inferential analysis. The results showed that the average score of the absorption of students with the application of training inquiry is 71.51% with the higher category, while the average absorption class with the application of conventional learning 63.71% with a lower category. Thus concluded that the application of learning models Inquiry Training can improve student learning outcomes in learning Physics in harmonious vibration material in class X SMA N 4 Pekanbaru

The purpose of this research is to know the correlation between perception of classroom climate and students learning motivation physics. This research is correlational. The population in this study were students of class XI IPA Simpang Kanan sub-distric, sample in this study is one class from each school are Class XI IPA with a total of 115 people. and the sample in this study is one class from each school are Class XI IPA with a total sample of 43 people, The data collection instrument used is kuisioner classroom climate and and students learning motivation physics. The result of this research showed that there is a significant positive correlation between perception of classroom climate and students motivation to learn physic subject. Data analysis technique used is the Pearson product moment correlation test . Data were analyzed by descriptive and inferential. Based on the results of the analysis showed that there is a positive and significant correlation between perceptions of classroom climate with motivation to learn physics students, regression equation was á¿© = 39.077 + 0.353 x, coefficient of correlation was 0,505 and Fcount > Ftable (14,001 > 3,99). Contribution perception of classroom climate and students motivation to learn physic subject was 22,5%. The conclusion indicate that the perception of classroom climate relate to students motivation to learn physic in SMA class XI IPA simpang kanan sub-district

Last Island: Exploring Transitions to Sustainable Futures through Play

© 2019 Association for Computing Machinery. A serious game was designed and developed with the goal of exploring potential sustainable futures and the transitions towards them. This computer-assisted board game, Last Island, which incorporates a system dynamics model into a board game's core mechanics, attempts to impart knowledge and understanding on sustainability and how an isolated society may transition to various futures to a non-expert community of players. To this end, this collaborativecompetitive game utilizes the Miniworld model which simulates three variables important for the sustainability of a society: Human population, economic production and the state of the environment. The resulting player interaction offers possibilities to collectively discover and validate potential scenarios for transitioning to a sustainable future, encouraging players to work together to balance the model output while also competing on individual objectives to be the individual winner of the game

A computer-aided detection (CAD) system for the identification of lung internal nodules in low-dose multi-detector helical Computed Tomography (CT) images was developed in the framework of the MAGIC-5 project. The three modules of our lung CAD system, a segmentation algorithm for lung internal region identification, a multi-scale dot-enhancement filter for nodule candidate selection and a multi-scale neural technique for false positive finding reduction, are described. The results obtained on a dataset of low-dose and thin-slice CT scans are shown in terms of free response receiver operating characteristic (FROC) curves and discussed.Comment: 18 pages, 12 low-resolution figure
