Hidden in the Rash - Alcoholic Pellagra Encephalopathy

    Get PDF
Pellagra Encephalopathy is a recognised medical condition due to niacin deficiency. Patients with alcohol dependence invariably have vitamin deficiencies, including niacin. Pellagra Encephalopathy can be challenging to diagnose alongside withdrawal delirium. Diarrhoea, skin rashes, memory and attention deficits, paraesthesia and proximal muscle weakness were noted in four patients diagnosed with delirium tremens. Atypical features such as cognitive and neurological deficits were understood as the presentation of pellagra encephalopathy. The presence of neuro-cognitive symptoms in addition to typical dermatological presentation guided consideration of pellagra encephalopathy comorbid with delirium due to alcohol withdrawal. Subtle neurological symptoms indicative of pellagra encephalopathy may be overlooked in patients with delirium

A Tale of Two Transients: GW 170104 and GRB 170105A

We present multi-wavelength follow-up campaigns by the AstroSat CZTI and GROWTH collaborations in search of an electromagnetic counterpart to the gravitational wave event GW 170104. At the time of the GW 170104 trigger, the AstroSat CZTI field of view covered 50.3% of the sky localization. We do not detect any hard X-ray (>100 keV) signal at this time, and place an upper limit of 4.5×107ergcm2s1\approx 4.5\times {10}^{-7}\,\mathrm{erg}\,{\mathrm{cm}}^{-2}\,{{\rm{s}}}^{-1}, for a 1 s timescale. Separately, the ATLAS survey reported a rapidly fading optical source dubbed ATLAS17aeu in the error circle of GW 170104. Our panchromatic investigation of ATLAS17aeu shows that it is the afterglow of an unrelated long, soft GRB 170105A, with only a fortuitous spatial coincidence with GW 170104. We then discuss the properties of this transient in the context of standard long GRB afterglow models

More less the studying result of students in 4th SD Negeri Kembangarum 2 Mranggen that influences some aspects, one of aspects is her parents?óÔé¼Ôäó not careless with them. Parents?óÔé¼Ôäó is constitute the?é?á first educator for children so that her parents?óÔé¼Ôäó has have responsibility to the studying result her children. The problem in this research contents is about Is there any correlation between of parents?óÔé¼Ôäó attention and the study result for thematic integrative learning in 4th SD Negeri Kembangarum 2 Mranggen Demak?. The hypothesis is that there is positive and significant correlation between of parents?óÔé¼Ôäó attention and the study result for thematic integrative learning in 4th SD Negeri Kembangarum 2 Mranggen Demak. The kind of this research is quantitative research. This research use correlation methode and submited the data use questionnaire and test. The colected data are analysed using product moment formula. The finding is that > on significancy level of 0,05. So the?é?á conclusion is there is positive and significant correlation between of parents?óÔé¼Ôäó attention and the study result for thematic integrative learning in 4th SD Negeri Kembangarum 2 Mranggen Demak

Discrete breathers in ϕ4\phi^4 and related models

We touch upon the wide topic of discrete breather formation with a special emphasis on the the ϕ4\phi^4 model. We start by introducing the model and discussing some of the application areas/motivational aspects of exploring time periodic, spatially localized structures, such as the discrete breathers. Our main emphasis is on the existence, and especially on the stability features of such solutions. We explore their spectral stability numerically, as well as in special limits (such as the vicinity of the so-called anti-continuum limit of vanishing coupling) analytically. We also provide and explore a simple, yet powerful stability criterion involving the sign of the derivative of the energy vs. frequency dependence of such solutions. We then turn our attention to nonlinear stability, bringing forth the importance of a topological notion, namely the Krein signature. Furthermore, we briefly touch upon linearly and nonlinearly unstable dynamics of such states. Some special aspects/extensions of such structures are only touched upon, including moving breathers and dissipative variations of the model and some possibilities for future work are highlighted
