Algebraic filtering of surfaces from 3d medical images with julia
In this paper we introduce a novel algebraic filter, based on algebraic topology methods, to extract and smooth the boundary surface of any subset of voxels arising from the segmentation of a 3D medical image. The input of the Linear Algebraic Representation (lar) Surface extraction filter (lar-surf) is defined as a chain, i.e., an element of a linear space of chains here subsets of voxels represented in coordinates as a sparse binary vector. The output is produced by a linear mapping between spaces of 3-and 2-chains, given by the boundary operator ∂3: C3 → C2. The only data structures used in this approach are sparse arrays with one or two indices, i.e., sparse vectors and sparse matrices. This work is based on lar algebraic methods and is implemented in Julia language, natively supporting parallel computing on hybrid hardware architectures
Correlative Imaging of Individual CsPbBr3 Nanocrystals: Role of Isolated Grains in Photoluminescence of Perovskite Polycrystalline Thin Films
We report on the optical properties of CsPbBr polycrystalline thin film
on a single grain level. A sample comprised of isolated nanocrystals (NCs)
mimicking the properties of the polycrystalline thin film grains that can be
individually probed by photoluminescence spectroscopy was prepared. These NCs
were analyzed using correlative microscopy allowing the examination of
structural, chemical, and optical properties from identical sites. Our results
show that the stoichiometry of the CsPbBr NCs is uniform and independent of
the NCs' morphology. The photoluminescence (PL) peak emission wavelength is
slightly dependent on the dimensions of NCs, with the blue shift up to 9\,nm
for the smallest analyzed NCs. The magnitude of the blueshift is smaller than
the emission linewidth, thus detectable only by high-resolution PL mapping. By
comparing the emission wavelengths obtained from the experiment and a rigorous
effective mass model we can fully attribute the observed variations to the
size-dependent quantum confinement effect.Comment: 23 pages, 3 figure

Segmentation of historical document images
V rámci diplomové práce byly prozkoumány možné přístupy k segmentaci historických dokumentů a po následné analýze byly použity plně konvoluční neuronové sítě ARU-Net, U-Net a její úprava. Takto získané řádky jsou vhodné pro další zpracování OCR.ObhájenoCorrect segmentation of image documents is one of the most important tasks in OCR. During segmentation, areas of interests such as text blocks, text lines and separators are automatically labeled. Historical image documents are often malformed, contain noise and have irregular structure. Because of these issues, successful segmentation of such documents presents a difficult challenge.
This Master's thesis explores possible approaches to segmentation of historical documents, after subsequent analysis, fully convolutional neural networks ARU-Net and U-net and its variations were used for this task. This thesis also deals with manual creation of a data set, particularly with creation of expected results of segmentation and suitable tools for achieving this task.
Based on results obtained from models trained on the created data set, variation of the U-net network was selected for text labeling and ARU-net for finding of separators and labeling of lines of text. The result of this thesis a program combining results of individual neural networks. This program is able to detect and cut lines of text from input images while retaining reading order. Text lines obtained from this program are suitable for further OCR processing
Automatic image annotation
Detailně práce popisuje metody LBP a SIFT. ObhájenoThis thesis deals with the problem of automatic image annotation (AIA). The goal of AIA is to assign one or more annotations (keywords) to an image. The key task in solving AIA is obtaining image features. The thesis provides an overview of methods used for this task. Subsequently, two such methods LBP and SIFT are described in detail. These methods were chosen for implementation because they achieve excellent results both in AIA and other areas of pattern recognition. The thesis also describes methods for classification of descriptors. For classification, the method k-nearest vectors was chosen and implemented. The resulting application is a system capable of testing methods for automated annotation on commonly available databases. Implemented methods were tested on several standard data sets and obtained results are then compared with results from literature
