    A Mixed-Bouncing Based Non-Stationarity and Consistency 6G V2V Channel Model with Continuously Arbitrary Trajectory

    In this paper, a novel three-dimensional (3D) irregularshaped geometry-based stochastic model (IS-GBSM) is proposedfor sixth-generation (6G) millimeter wave (mmWave) massivemultiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) vehicle-to-vehicle(V2V) channels. To investigate the impact of vehicular trafficdensity (VTD) on channel statistics, clusters are divided into staticclusters and dynamic clusters, which are further distinguishedinto static/dynamic single/twin-clusters to capture the mixed bouncingpropagation. A new method, which integrates thevisibility region and birth-death process methods, is developedto model space-time-frequency (S-T-F) non-stationarity of V2Vchannels with time-space (T-S) consistency. The continuouslyarbitrary vehicular movement trajectory (VMT) and soft clusterpower handover are modeled to further ensure channel T-Sconsistency. From the proposed model, key channel statistics arederived. Simulation results show that S-T-F non-stationarity ofchannels with T-S consistency is modeled and the impacts of VTDand VMT on channel statistics are analyzed. The generality ofthe proposed model is validated by comparing simulation resultsand measurement/ray-tracing (RT)-based results

    Study of the short-term quality of life of patients with esophageal cancer after inflatable videoassisted mediastinoscopic transhiatal esophagectomy

    ObjectiveTo compare the short-term outcomes and postoperative quality of life in patients with esophageal cancer between inflatable videoasisted mediastinoscopic transhiatal esophagectomy (IVMTE) and minimally invasive Mckeown esophagectomy (MIME), and to evaluate the value of IVMTE in the surgical treatment of esophageal cancer.MethodsA prospective, nonrandomized study was adopted. A total of 60 esophageal cancer patients after IVMTE and MIME December 2019 to January 2022 were included. Among them, 30 patients underwent IVMTE and 30 patients underwent MIME. Shortterm outcomes (including the operation time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative drainage 3 days, total postoperative tube time, postoperative hospital stay, number and number of thoracic lymph node dissection stations, postoperative complications and so on), postoperative quality of life, [including Quality of Life Core Questionnaire (QLQ-C30) and the esophageal site-specific module (QLQ-OES18)] were compared between the 2 groups.ResultsThe operation time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative drainage volume and total postoperative intubation time in IVMTE group were significantly lower than those in MIME group (P < 0.05). A total of 22 patients had postoperative complications, including 7 patients in IVMTE group (23.3%) and 15 patients in MIME group (50.0%). There was significant difference between the two groups (P = 0.032). The physical function, role function, cognitive function, emotional function and social function and the overall health status in the IVMTE group were higher than those in the MIME group at all time points after operation, while the areas of fatigue, nausea, vomiting and pain symptoms in the MIME group were lower than those in the MIME group at all time points after operation.ConclusionIVMTE is a feasible and safe alternative to MIME. Therefore, when the case is appropriate, IVMTE should be given priority, which is conducive to postoperative recovery and improve the quality of life of patients after operation

with Lung Adenocarcinoma Treated with Radical Dissection

    Background and objective Previous studies have shown that the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) has a significant impact on the prognosis of many malignant tumors such as gastric cancer, colorectal cancer and pancreatic cancer, but the study on the prognosis of patients with resectable lung adenocarcinoma is less. The aim of this study is to investigate the correlation between the NLR and the clinicopathologic features of adenocarcinoma of lung patients who underwent radical pneumonectomy. Furthermore, this study aimed to clarify the predictive and prognostic significance of NLR in patients who underwent pneumonectomy for lung adenocarcinoma. Methods This study reviewed the medical records of 163 patients with lung adenocarcinoma who underwent pneumonectomy. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and Youden index were used to determine the cut-off value of the NLR. Survival curves were described by Kaplan-Meier method and compared by Log-rank test. The univariate and multivariate analyses were performed with the Cox proportional hazard model to identify the prognostic factors. Results When the NLR value was 2.96, the Youden index was maximal, with a sensitivity of 77.5% and a specificity of 75.9%. The 5-year survival rate in the low NLR group was higher than that in the high NLR group (P<0.05). The univariate and multivariate analyses showed that TNM staging and NLR were independent factors in predicting survival rate. Conclusion The NLR value was a simple and useful tool to predict the prognosis of lung adenocarcinoma after radical pneumonectomy

    Effect of Preserving the Pulmonary Branch of Vagus Nerve on Postoperative Cough 
in Patients with Stage I Peripheral Lung Adenocarcinoma

    Background and objective Cough is one of the main complications after pulmonary surgery, which seriously affects the postoperative quality of life. Preserving the pulmonary branch of vagus nerve may reduce the incidence of postoperative cough. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate whether preserving the pulmonary branch of the vagus nerve could reduce the incidence of postoperative chronic cough in patients with stage I peripheral lung adenocarcinoma. Methods A total of 125 patients who underwent single-port thoracoscopic radical resection for lung cancer in the Department of Thoracic Surgery, The First Affiliated Hospital of University of Science and Technology of China from June 2022 to June 2023 were retrospectively selected, and divided into two groups according to whether the vagopulmonary branch was preserved during the operation, namely, the vagopulmonary branch group (n=61) and the traditional group (n=64). The general clinical data, perioperative conditions, lymph node dissection, Mandarin Chinese version of The Leicester Cough Questionnaire (LCQ-MC) scores before and 8 weeks after operation were recorded in the two groups. Both the two groups were divided into tamponade group and non-tamponade group according to whether autologous fat or gelatin sponge was tamponade after lymph node dissection. LCQ-MC scores and postoperative chronic cough of both groups were calculated. Results The LCQ-MC score of the traditional group was significantly lower than that of the vagopulmonary branch group in physiological, psychological, social and total scores at 8 weeks after surgery, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). There were more cough patients in the traditional group than the vagopulmonary branch group at 8 weeks after surgery, with significant difference (P=0.006). Subgroup analysis was conducted separately for the vagopulmonary branch group and the traditional group. Among the patients in the vagopulmonary branch group and the traditional group, the LCQ-MC scores of the non-tamponade group 8 weeks after surgery were lower than those of the tamponade group (P<0.05). There were more patients with cough in the group 8 weeks after surgery than in the tamponade group (P=0.001, P=0.024). Conclusion For patients with stage I peripheral lung adenocarcinoma, the preservation of the pulmonary branch of vagus nerve is safe and effective, which can reduce the incidence of postoperative chronic cough and improve the postoperative quality of life of the patients

    Genetic heterogeneity in patients with Bartter syndrome type 1.

    Bartter syndrome (BS) type 1 is an autosomal recessive kidney disorder caused by loss‑of‑function mutations in the solute carrier family 12 member 1 (SLC12A1) gene. To date, 72 BS type 1 patients harboring SLC12A1 mutations have been documented. Of these 144 alleles studied, 68 different disease‑causing mutations have been detected in 129 alleles, and no mutation was detected in the remaining 15 alleles. The mutation types included missense/nonsense mutations, splicing mutations and small insertions and deletions ranging from 1 to 4 nucleotides. A large deletion encompassing a whole exon in the SLC12A1 gene has not yet been reported. The current study initially identified an undocumented homozygous frameshift mutation (c.1833delT) by Sanger sequencing analysis of a single infant with BS type 1. However, in a subsequent analysis, the mutation was detected only in the father\u27s DNA. Upon further investigation using a next‑generation sequencing approach, a deletion in exons 14 and 15 in both the patient and patient\u27s mother was detected. The deletion was subsequently confirmed by use of a long‑range polymerase chain reaction and was determined to be 3.16 kb in size based on sequencing of the junction fragment. The results of the present study demonstrated that pathogenic variants of SLC12A1 are heterogeneous. Large deletions appear to serve an etiological role in BS type 1, and may be more prevalent than previously thought

    Short-term Outcome of Uniportal and Three Portal Video-assisted Thoracic Surgery for Patients with Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

    Background and objective Currently, there are many reports on the advantages of three portal video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) in the treatment of lung cancer, but there are few reports on the comparison between uniportal and three portal video-assisted thoracic surgery. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the recent curative effect of the postoperative short-term quality of life between uniportal and three portal video-assisted thoracic surgery for non-small cell lung cancer. Methods We retrospectively evaluated 266 patients with NSCLC who underwent intended VATS lobectomy by a single surgical team in our ward between January 2016 and August 2017. The general clinical date, perioperative data and short-term life quality were individually compared and analyzed between the two groups. Results The two groups were similar in terms of clinicopathological features, total number of dissected lymph nodes and nodal stations, postoperative complications and pulmonary complications (P>0.05). Compared with three portal VATS, the intraoperative blood loss, chest tube duration, postoperative thoracic drainage, length of stay and NRS score were significantly decreased in uniportal VATS, with significant differences (P<0.05). Conclusion As a more minimally invasive surgery, uniportal VATS can be safely and effectively performed for resectable lung cancer, which would achieve even better operation curative effect than three portal VATS
