The importance of intangible elements in the assessment of service quality in hotels in Kolubara District

One of the hotel companies’ key strategies in terms of increasing domestic and international competition is that the hotel service offer reflects a high quality level. Aim of this paper is to measure the guests’ satisfaction level by the intangible components of offer in the Kolubara District hotels, i.e. to show the significance of this dimension in the total process of providing hotel services. Satisfied guests show a higher loyalty level, which represents a precondition for visiting the same hotel by the same guests and recommend it to their friends. The research was conducted in four hotels, where 100 respondents, the guests of the hotel, were surveyed. The research results showed that the intangible dimension of hotel offer can predetermine and increase the value of services to a large degree, and guests’ satisfaction as the users of services as well.Publishe

The Importance of Alpha-Lipoic Acid and Vitamin B Complex in Treating Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in a Patient Diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus – A Case Report

Karpalni sindrom čini skupina simptoma uzrokovanih kompresijom distalnog dijela nervusa medianusa u karpalnom tunelu. Sindrom je važan u svakodnevnoj kliničkoj praksi jer se radi o učestaloj mononeuropatiji koja znatno utječe na funkcionalnost i kvalitetu svakodnevnih aktivnosti. Konvencionalno liječenje karpalnog sindroma ovisi o jačini i trajanju simptoma i uključuje raznoliku terapiju: kortikosteroide, imobilizaciju i operaciju. U radu prikazujemo bolesnika u dobi od 54 godine s dugogodišnjim dijabetesom. Nakon kliničke i elektromiografske dijagnoze srednje teškoga kroničnog karpalnog sindroma i zbog prisutne neuropatije bolesnik je liječen alfa-lipoičnom kiselinom i vitaminima skupine B u preporučenim dozama tijekom nekoliko mjeseci. Poboljšanje je potvrđeno i klinički i elektromiografski. Rezultati upućuju na mogućnost uspješne aplikacije alfa-lipoične kiseline i vitamina skupine B u bolesnika s dijabetesom i blagim do srednje teškim karpalnim sindromom. Potrebna su daljnja kontrolirana randomizirana klinička istraživanja koja će to potvrditi.Carpal tunnel syndrome represents a set of symptoms and signs caused by the compression of the distal portion of the median nerve in the carpal tunnel. It is important in everyday clinical practice since it is the most frequent mononeuropathy that significantly influences the functionality and the quality of daily activities. The conventional treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome consists of (based on severity and duration of symptoms) different therapies, such as: corticosteroids, immobilization or surgery. This is a case report of a 54-year-old patient, suffering from diabetes mellitus for many years. After clinical and electromyographic confirmation of moderate chronic carpal tunnel syndrome, and because of the existing polyneuropathy, the patient has been treated with alpha-lipoic acid and vitamin B complex in recommended therapeutic doses for several months. An improvement has been verified clinically and electromyographically. The result indicates the possibility of successful therapeutic application of alpha-lipoic acid and vitamin B complex in diabetic patients with mild to moderate carpal tunnel syndrome. Further randomized controlled clinical studies are needed to confirm this

Noise at public event

Recent years the noise is one of the leading pollutants in working and living environment. Although in some cases the noise levels do not exceed proposed levels, people often have the opposite impression. While for the most activities noise regulation exists, for public events this is not the case. There are certain guidelines, however established levels differ from country to country. In order to determine the noise level during public events the equivalent level of noise was measured at one public event on which approximately 50,000 people was present. The results show significantly high levels of noise, especially during rock concert and firework, when certain protective measures should be implemented

U ovome radu istražuju se, elaboriraju i na praktičnim primjerima analiziraju mjerila uspješnosti u prometu, posebice proizvodnosti rada u prometu. Objekti istraživanja jesu načini mjerenja proizvodnosti u prometu, prijevozni rad i zaposlenost u prometu. Na kraju rada analizira se proizvodnost rada mjereno statičkim i dinamičkim pokazateljima rada u prometnom sustavu Republike Hrvatske, ukupno i po pojedinim prometnim granama te ukazuje na mogućnosti i važnost povećanja ukupne proizvodnosti rada u prometu. Toĉka pokrića je koristan analitiĉki instrument za utvrđivanje ekonomskih uĉinaka koji u ovom radu pomaţe u planiranju i donošenju poslovnih odluka u procesu poslovanja autoškole. Ovaj model se koristi kao instrument koji daje odreĊene smjernice za kratkoroĉno poslovno odluĉivanje. Cilj rada je utvrditi toĉku pokrića, odnosno potrebnu razinu poslovnih prihoda u poslovanju autoškole koja omogućava pokrivanje svih troškova tj. utvrditi razinu poslovanja ispod koje poslovanje postaje dugoroĉno neodrţivo. Kroz razgovor sa vlasnikom autoškole «EUROPA» prikupljeni su podaci o financijskim ĉimbenicima potrebnim za odreĊivanjem toĉke pokrića – ukupni fiksni troškovi, ukupni varijabilni troškovi te ukupni prihod na temelju kojih je odreĊena vrijednosno izraţena toĉka pokrića na godišnjoj razini. Analizom financijskih ĉimbenika u poslovanju autoškole zakljuĉujemo da bi vlasnik ostvario pozitivan financijski rezultat mora ostvariti oĉekivanu dobit najmanje u visini 5% neto prihoda

PROBLEMS AND POSSIBILITIES OF ECONOMIC EVALUATION OF AGRO-ECOLOGICAL RESOURCES

The economy based on renewable natural resources, a specific and heterogeneous group of resources (agricultural land, biological reserves, energy flows and ecosystemic externalities) includes a number of aspects for rational use and evaluation of external effects of the natural heritage. Rent is a key economic category, which was originally linked to the phenomenon of proceeds achieved on the basis of property rights relating to natural factors. Exploitation of natural resources creates considerable external effects, that are representing the social dimension of costs, which should be appropriately tackled as one of the most important practical problems regarding their rational use. This paper points out different theoretical-analytical approaches to the optimalization of renewable natural resources. It specifically considers possible methods of evaluation of agroecological resources and external effects of ecosystem services (direct ones, based on hypothetical markets, and indirect ones, based on derived demand) Consideration starts from the aimed position that the identification and quantification of rents and ecosystemic externalities, represents the substantial foundation and precondition for efficient policy and protection measures, as well as rational and sustainable use of natural resources
