Anarchitextures: Intermedial Encounters On The Screen

In this article I draw on architectural and choreographic ways of thinking to discuss how filmed material is transformed through projection and active and mobile spectatorship. Shifting my attention from what is projected to where it is projected, I expand the discourse beyond the single flat cinematic screen. I do this by concentrating on how the projected surface (its placement in space and its assembly with multiple screens) creates social encounters. This study accepts Rosenberg's definition of the screen as "a receptor of an otherwise ephemeral image and which reifies that image in the process of receiving it." Anarchitextures is a screen-based performance project through which I explored Eisensteinian montage to include a spatial and ambulatory practice. The project speaks to choreographic environments and events that use the screen as a socially engaged practice, and also poses some questions regarding the boundaries that appear to shape the screendance field.

‘Meta-Choreographies’ Between the Desktop and the Stage

How does one re-use pre-existing material in order to form an expanded choreographic practice of relating to audio-visual archive without being considered of stealing or lacking originality? Copying, re-using and appropriation, not innocent from copyright implications but often entrapped in the modernist myth of originality, are practices that have been enhanced by the growth of the digital archive available on the internet and the expansion of the online public space. In light of this surge that challenges the body-to-body dance transmission, this text analyzes copying, re-use and appropriation as forms of citation, both audio-visually and corporeally, through the work of the Italian choreographer, performer, educator and filmmaker Jacopo Jenna who connects fragments of preexisting works to create unexpected visual and corporeal associations that prompt us to re-think the dance canon. His work, based on a meta-choreographic and meta(dance)cinematic technique, moves between screen and stage, two-dimensional and three-dimensional space and brings into dialogue immaterial bodies and gestures stored in our collective memory with flesh bodies on stage. Exercise Boundary of the American Put Near Maturity in an Exponential Lévy Model

International audienceWe study the behavior of the critical price of an American put option near maturity in the exponential Lévy model. In particular, we prove that, in situations where the limit of the critical price is equal to the strike price, the rate of convergence to the limit is linear if and only if the underlying Lévy process has finite variation. In the case of infinite variation, a variety of rates of convergence can be observed: we prove that, when the negative part of the Lévy measure exhibits an $\alpha$-stable density near the origin, with $1<\alpha<2$, the convergence rate is ruled by $\theta^{1/\alpha}|\ln \theta|^{1-\frac{1}{\alpha}}$, where $\theta$ is time until maturity

The smooth-fit property in an exponential Lévy model

International audienceWe study the smooth-fit property of the American put price with finite maturity in an exponential Lévy model when the underlying stock pays dividends at a continuous rate. As in the perpetual case, a regularity property is sufficient for smooth-fit to occur. We also derive conditions on the Lévy measure under which smooth-fit fails

Structure physicochimique et phytoplanctonique du lac dayet aoua (moyen atlas - Maroc)

Le présent travail consiste à étudier les variations spatiotemporelles des paramètres physicochimiques et des descripteurs de la biomasse phytoplanctonique et de la production primaire du lac Dayet Aoua (province d’Ifrane). Ainsi, une série de 23 prélèvements a été réalisée au milieu du lac (au point le plus profond 5,3m) à différentes profondeurs (0m, 1m, 2m et 4m) durant la période allant de décembre 2012 à novembre 2013. La densité et la biomasse de cette communauté phytoplanctonique sont très faibles et ont varié de 0,6 x104 cellules.L-1 à 6,7 x104 cellules.L-1 pour la densité et de 2,32 μg.L-1 à 89,50 μg.L-1 pour la biomasse. Les teneurs et les variations spatiotemporelles de la chlorophylle a reflètent les faibles biomasses et suivent globalement la même évolution que les densités phytoplanctoniques. Les valeurs ont varié de 0,04 μg.L-1 à 6,60 μg.L-1. La production primaire est très faible et reflète elle aussi les faibles valeurs des descripteurs de la biomasse, les valeurs ont fluctué entre 2,8 μgO2.L-1h-1 et 220,0 μgO2.L-1h-1. Les paramètres physicochimiques ne montrent aucun signe de pollution. En somme, les résultats de cette contribution montrent que le lac a subi un rajeunissement après la dernière remise en eau de 2008 et son état de trophie est oligotrophe témoignant des faibles apports en substances eutrophisantes.Mots-clés: phytoplancton, azote, phosphore, production primaire. Physico-chemical and phytoplanctonic structure of dayet aoua lake (middle atlas - Morocco) The present work is to study the spatial and temporal variations of physicochemical parameters and descriptors of phytoplankton biomass and primary production of Lake Dayet Aoua (Ifrane province). Thus, a series of 23 samples has been achieved in the middle of the lake (at the deepest point 5,3 m) at different depths (0m, 1m, 2m and 4m) during the period from December 2012 to November 2013. Density and biomass of the phytoplankton community are very low and ranged from 0,6x104 cells.L-1 to 6,7x104 cells.L-1 for density and 2,32 μg.L-1 to 89,50 μg.L-1 for biomass. The contents and spatiotemporal variations of chlorophyll a reflect low biomass and generally follow the same trend as phytoplankton density, values ranged from 0,04 to 6,60 μg.L-1. Primary production is very low and also reflects the low values of the descriptors of biomass, values fluctuated between 2,8 μgO2.L-1.h-1 and 220,0 μgO2.L-1.h-1. In addition, Physicochemical parameters show no signs of pollution. In end, the results of this contribution show that the lake has undergone a renovation after the last supplying water in 2008 and his state of trophy is oligotrophic reflecting low intakes eutrophic substances by the affluents.Keywords: phytoplankton , nitrogen, phosphorus, primary production

Mitigation of wind induced movement of buildings using the modified friction device

Indeed, in order to ensure serviceability and safety standards, it is the engineers' responsibility to investigate the response of high-rise buildings to wind excitation. Tuned mass dampers are usually used to limit the response of the buildings to wind. However, these devices are generally tuned for a particular bandwidth of frequencies. Therefore, in order to improve the effectiveness of these devices, control schemes must be implemented. For this thesis, the design of a modified friction device (MFD) has been studied. Requiring only a small amount of energy, the MFD is a new kind of semi-active damper that provides stability, accurate control and effectiveness. Using a MATLAB program, it was possible to model a primary structure hit by a certain wind excitation. The modified friction device was designed to counterbalance the effects of wind and decrease displacements and accelerations. It was placed on the top of the building where the displacements are generally the highest. The parameters of the MFD were examined, and many simulations were run in order to optimize the action of the device on the mitigation of wind excitation. The results demonstrate that the MFD effectively mitigates wind induced motion in buildings. Therefore, this thesis corroborates the benefits of implementing modified friction devices in civil structures.by Saad Mikou.M.Eng

La novela de la dictadura en el Ecuador de los años setenta: la imaginación al servicio de la realidad

La Tesis destaca el tema de la dictadura en la novela ecuatoriana de los años setenta, considerados los años del “boom” ecuatoriano. Nuestra propuesta de análisis consiste en abordar este tema para mostrar que la novela ecuatoriana no es “periférica”, sino que tiene grandes méritos y goza de enormes potencialidades que no sólo la unen a la nueva novela hispanoamericana, sino que la conducen al universalismo. La Tesis se divide en dos partes: la primera es una aproximación teórica que se ocupa, especialmente, del concepto socio-político y literario de la dictadura tanto en Hispanoamérica como en el Ecuador, lo cual permite una potenciación de lo que va a continuación. La segunda parte aborda algunas novelas, que consideramos las más notorias, desde una orientación analítica multidimensional. Se trata de reflexionar sobre el tema del poder en el Ecuador de los años setenta en textos concretos para descubrir la figura del dictador y la dinámica de su gobierno, el caudillismo oligárquico, el levantamiento popular, el intervencionismo extranjero y las proyecciones al futuro, sin olvidar el placer estético que cada novela encierra. La Tesis termina con unas conclusiones sintéticas del estudio
