AbstractThe burnout syndrome among the medical professionals negatively affects not only the individual and the organization, but also the patients. Most of the times, burnout represents a reaction to stress. The aim of this study was to analyze the correlations between perfectionism, perceived stress, burnout and psychopathological symptoms in medical personnel (N = 72, Mage = 40.3; SD = 9.24) from a private hospital from Bucharest. The measures that we used were Perfectionism Inventory (Hill et al., 2004), Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10; Cohen et al., 1983), Maslach Burnout Inventory-Educators Survey (MBI-ES, Maslach & Jackson,1986) and The Symptom Checklist (SCL-90-R; Derogatis, 1983). The obtained results were presented according to participants’ profession, on two levels of analysis: doctors versus nurses. Overall, our study indicated the fact that the associations between perfectionism tendencies, perceived stress, burnout and psychopathological symptoms in medical employees were positively and statistically significant. Also, the level of stress perceived by nurses was highly correlated with somatization and hostility symptoms, while stress perceived by doctors was weakly associated with sensitivity and depression symptoms

The Strategy Concerning the Development of the Danube Euroregion, between Desire and Pragmatism

    Get PDF
Objectives This work examines the framework of the Danube Strategy, the way it is implemented in Romania and brief analysis of the corresponding current and future projects. Prior work This is a pioneer work on this topic. In the development of the work public materials are used, e.g. the ones published by the Romanian authorities and the Final Declarations of the Strategy Conferences. Approach The article is an observation of the projects (future) implemented in Romania based on the currently available data. Results On the course of the research it became clear that the Strategy results are still modest, and better cooperation between member states, supported by a European Union grant program., is needed to reach the objectives set by the Strategy. Implications The present article would be useful for researchers as it sums up all the information available at this moment in Romania about the programs that are being implemented. Value The importance of the work is given by the fact that is the first that analyses how successful is the Strategy until now and how well Romania, as a member state, benefits from it

Disentangling and quantifying contributions of distinct forcing factors to the observed global sea level pressure field

Variations of the global sea level pressure (SLP) field reflect atmospheric and oceanic influences and have a profound influence on temperature, precipitation and the global carbon cycle. The impact of various forcing factors on this field was investigated mainly based on numerical simulations. Alternatively, here we identify and quantify the influences of various forcing factors on observational, reanalysis and simulated SLP fields. By applying canonical correlation analysis (CCA) on the aforementioned data sets, we separated and quantified the impact of increase CO2 concentration, El Ni\~o--Southern Oscillation (ENSO), Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation (AMO), Arctic Oscillation (AO) and solar forcing on the global SLP field, based on their associations with known footprints on the sea surface temperature (SST). Together, their corresponding SLP spatial structures explainþinspace~þinspace60% of the observed variance. Whereas the atmospheric CO2 concentration has the most prominent impact on the global SLP field, explaining 28% of variance, ENSO and AO account for 9% each. The solar forcing and AMO explain 7%, respectively 6% of global SLP variance. Similar spatial structures corresponding to the same forcing factors are identified based on the reanalysis SLP data. CCA applied on simulated SLP fields derived from six CMIP5 model simulations captures only the spatial structures of atmospheric CO2 concentration, ENSO, AAO and AO. Such a decomposition of the global pressure field based on a linear combination of coupled SST-SLP pairs provide a reference against which one could validate the performance of general circulation models in simulating the lower atmosphere dynamics

Considerations regarding the evolution of extreme temperatures in the Banat Plain in the last six decades

During cold winter nights we often hear the question "where is the global warming, should it not be warmer?". Low temperatures that can still be recorded in the Banat Plain during winter or media reports of cold waves affecting various regions worldwide seem to the common man to be in total contradiction with the concerns of the scientific community about global warming. With this article we are trying to follow the evolution of some meteorological parameters that can affect the population in one way or another, namely number of tropical days, number of winter days, number of tropical nights, number of frosty nights, absolute maximum and minimum temperatures. Thus, the data obtained from the three national meteorological services (Romanian, Hungarian, and Serbian) operating on the territory of the Banat Plain were grouped in a common database and analyzed both in Excel and with the help of the non-parametric Mann-Kendall test, obtaining a series of conclusions on the evolution of the abovementioned parameters, as well as on the way how the increase in the risk of high temperatures is compensated (or not) by the decrease in the risk of low temperatures

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major problem of public health. In the district Orhei, the morbidity and mortality rates of TB increased with in recent years as compared with 2001. About 65% of sick people - do not work and don`t earn any money to live on. There is the phenomen of “rejuvenating tuberculosis”.
