E-KNOWLEDGE FOR SUPPORTING STRATEGIC DECISION MAKING PROCESS AT REGIONAL LEVEL
The paper approaches a subject of great novelty in knowledge-based society related to regional strategic decision making. This work and the innovative solutions introduced represent the results of a Romanian research project: āRegional Knowledge Management Architecture for the Regional Sustainable Strategy Developmentā (KnowHowReg), funded by the National Council for Higher Education and Research, Programme Ideas (code: 896, contract number: 383/2007). The research emphasizes the necessity of increasing the vitality of the local knowledge poles, by intensive use of scientific knowledge generated in the academic and research environment for a better fundament of the strategic decision making process at the regional level. The solution proposed, based on web 2.0 technologies, integrates e-Knowledge and e-Consultation tools in a regional portal, facilitating the bottom-up decision-making processes related to the regional strategy design and implementation. The paper focuses on e-Knowledge approach as a driver for the improvement of the decision making processes.bottom-up decision making, regional knowledge management, e-Governance, e-Consultation.
Statistical Data Regarding the European Higher Education Space in Romania
AbstractThe overall education system and especially the higher education one, is a main component of the social system, being subordinated and integrated within the structure of the society. In this perspective, the higher education system in Romania, due to the accession in EU, is no longer just depending on the internal structure and national inputs, but is also influenced by external impulses and social policies. In this context, the paper aims at presenting the evolution of the Romanian higher education system within the European Higher Education Space. Education system, perceived as a whole, refers fundamentally to the institutional form of the education, including all the stakeholders involved or interested in education. Taking into the consideration the main features of the education system, such as its national, historical, political and strategic characteristics, the development of the education system represents a priority for the socio-economic progress. Furthermore, the education system evolves in relation to the economic and cultural specific context of each country. In this regard, there are common features and also differences among the educational systems within the European Space, which are related to socio-economic and cultural conditions of each country
Water Soluble Pleurotus ostreatus Polysaccharide Down-Regulates the Expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in Caco-2 Cells
Many polysaccharides and polysaccharide-protein complexes isolated from mushrooms have immunomodulatory and anti-cancer effects. Our aim was to study the regulatory mechanisms of Caco-2 cell response to water soluble P. ostreatus polysaccharide extract up to 72 hours. Specific enzymatic activities were assessed by kinetic measurements. The reduced glutathione content and the lipid peroxidation level were also analyzed. Protein expression of several heat shock proteins, Bcl-2 and metalloproteinases 2 and 9 were revealed by Western blot. Gelatin zymography assay was used to evaluate the MMP-2 and MMP-9 activities. Until the third day of exposure the total SOD activity decreased continuously by 30%, whereas GST and GR ones diminished by 17% respectively 30.5% compared to control. No significant changes were observed in CAT and G6PDH specific activities as well as in GSH and MDA concentration. After the third day of exposure a significant up-regulation of Hsp60 and Hsp90 expression and a down-regulation of Hsp70 one were registered. Bcl-2 protein levels were down-regulated by 50% in the first day of treatment but increased after 3 days. MMP-2 and 9 secretion in the culture medium was significantly reduced suggesting a diminished ability of invasion of colon cancer cells. Our data revealed that in vitro treatment with P. ostreatus aqueous polysaccharide extract does not induce apoptosis in Caco-2 cell line but it could inhibit the invasion of colon cancer cells through the basement membrane
Tertiary Education's Role in Research and Innovation
AbstractThe paper aims at emphasising the role of the universities in the global knowledge economy as poles of education, research and innovation. The tertiary education redefines its role and plays a major part in research and innovation, as promoters of the research and innovation culture and as contributors in finding solutions to tackle various actual challenges and to bridge the gap between the political decision area, the governance and the labour market. The desk research, based on the statistical data analyse revealed the direct contribution of the universities to the sustainable development and knowledge creation
Between objective and subjective in the sustainable development and the identification of crisis mitigation solutions
The paper presents an objective perspective on the sustainable
development in Romania, as it is illustrated by the statistical data. The analysis of
the main indicators related to the human development, the environment and the
socio-economic issues reveals the position of our country within the European
space. Besides the objective perspective, the citizensā perspective has been also
considered. The survey organised has identified the general citizensā views related
to the barriers and opportunities concerning the sustainable development and
possible crisis mitigation solutions. The results of the pilot survey demonstrate the
citizensā commitment in finding solutions for the issues that affect their lives. The
article emphasizes the citizensā potential role in finding solutions in complex and
difficult situations
Carassius genetic diversity investigation from Tautesti Lake (Iasi County)
n this experiment we investigated the genetic diversity of Carassius gibelio Bloch, individuals, from Tautesti
(Iasi County) pond, using the sequencing of cytochrome b as a codominat-marker. The analysis of cytochrome b first part
gene coding region has permitted to establish if there is a wild population or the pond was repopulated in the last years
The analysis of cytochrome b sequence for Carassius gibelio Bloch., 1782 individuals from Tautesti lake (Iasi county)
In this experiment we investigated the genetic diversity of Carassius gibelio Bloch, individuals, fromĀ Tautesti Lake (Iasi County), by analysing the sequence of cytochrome b. The study of cytochrome b first part gene coding region has permitted the identification of two new haplotypes
