Abrupt and gradual changes of information through the Kane solid state computer
The susceptibility of the transformed information to the filed and system
parameters is investigated for the Kane solid state computer. It has been
shown, that the field polarization and the initial state of the system play the
central roles on the abrupt and gradual quench of the purity and the fidelity.
If the field and the initial state are in different polarizations, then the
purity and the fidelity decrease abruptly, while for the common polarization
the decay is gradual and smooth. For some class of initial states one can send
the information without any loss. Therefore, by controlling on the devices one
can increase the time of safe communication, reduce the amount of exchange
information between the state and its environment and minimize the purity
decrease rate
Some entanglement features of three-atoms Tavis-Cummings model: Cooperative case
In this paper we consider a system of identical three two-level atoms
interacting at resonance with a single-mode of the quantized field in a
lossless cavity. The initial cavity field is prepared in the coherent state
while the atoms are taken initially to be either in the uppermost excited state
"" or The -state or the -state. For this
system we investigate different kinds of atomic inversion and entanglement,
which arise between the different parts of the system due to the interaction.
Also the relationship, between entanglement and some other nonclassical effects
in the statistical properties, such as collapses and revivals in the atomic
inversion where superharmonic effects appear, is discussed. The -functions
for different cases are discussed. Most remarkably it is found that the
-state is more robust against energy losses, showing almost
coherent trapping and Schr\"odinger-cat states can not be produced from such
state. Also the entanglement of -state is more robust than the
-state. Another interesting feature found is that the state which
has no pairwise entanglement initially will have a much improvement of such
pairwise entanglement through the evolution. Sudden death and sudden revival of
atoms-pairwise entanglement are produced with the -state.Comment: 14 pages, 7 figure
Humanized cereblon mice reveal two distinct pathways of immunomodulatory drugs
Immunomodulatory drugs (IMiDs), including thalidomide derivatives such as lenalidomide and pomalidomide, offer therapeutic benefit in several hematopoietic malignancies and autoimmune/inflammatory diseases. However, it is difficult to study the IMiD mechanism of action in murine disease models because murine cereblon (CRBN), the substrate receptor for IMiD action, is resistant to some of IMiDs therapeutic effects. To overcome this difficulty, we generated humanized cereblon (CRBNI391V) mice thereby providing an animal model to unravel complex mechanisms of action in a murine physiological setup. In our current study, we investigated the degradative effect toward IKZF1 and CK-1α, a target substrate of IMiDs. Unlike WT mice which were resistant to lenalidomide and pomalidomide, T lymphocytes from CRBNI391V mice responded with a higher degree of IKZF1 and CK-1α protein degradation. Furthermore, IMiDs resulted in an increase in IL-2 among CRBNI391V mice but not in the WT group. We have also tested a thalidomide derivative, FPFT-2216, which showed an inhibitory effect toward IKZF1 protein level. As opposed to pomalidomide, FPFT-2216 and lenalidomide degrades CK-1α. Additionally, we assessed the potential therapeutic effects of IMiDs in dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced colitis. In both WT and humanized mice, lenalidomide showed a significant therapeutic effect in the DSS model of colitis, while the effect of pomalidomide was less pronounced. Thus, while IMiDsâ degradative effect on IKZF1 and CK-1α, and up-regulation of IL-2, is dependent on CRBN, the therapeutic benefit of IMiDs in a mouse model of inflammatory bowel disease occurs through a CRBNâIMiD binding region independent pathway
Enhancement of nonclassical properties of two qubits via deformed operators
We explore the dynamics of two atoms interacting with a cavity field via
deformed operators. Properties of the asymptotic regularization of entanglement
measures proving, for example, purity cost, regularized fidelity and accuracy
of information transfer are analyzed. We show that the robustness of a
bipartite system having a finite number of quantum states vanishes at finite
photon numbers, for arbitrary interactions between its constituents and with
cavity field. Finally it is shown that the stability of the purity and the
fidelity is improved in the absence of the deformation parameters
Endometrial scratch in women undergoing first-time IVF treatment : a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
The endometrial scratch procedure is an IVF âadd-onâ sometimes provided prior to the first IVF cycle. A 2019 systematic review concluded that there was insufficient evidence to show whether endometrial scratch has a significant effect on pregnancy outcomes (including live birth rate, LBR) when undertaken prior to the first IVF cycle. Further evidence was published following this review, including the Endometrial Scratch Trial (ISRCTN23800982). The objective of the current review was to synthesize and critically appraise the evidence for the clinical effectiveness and safety of the endometrial scratch procedure in women undergoing their first IVF cycle. Databases searched include MEDLINE, Embase, CINAHL and ClinicalTrials.gov. Eligible randomized controlled trials included women undergoing IVF for the first time that reported the effectiveness and/or safety of the endometrial scratch procedure; 12 studies were included. Meta-analysis showed no evidence of a significant effect of the endometrial scratch on LBR (10 trials, odds ratio [OR] 1.17, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.76â1.79) or other pregnancy outcomes. This review confirms that there is a lack of evidence that endometrial scratch improves pregnancy outcomes, including LBR, for women undergoing their first IVF cycle. Clinicians are recommended not to perform this procedure in individuals undergoing their first cycle of IVF
Risk factors for traumatic and non-traumatic lower limb pain among preadolescents: a population-based study of Finnish schoolchildren
BACKGROUND: The child's lower limb is the most commonly reported musculoskeletal location with pain and also the most commonly injured site in sports. Some potential risk factors have been studied, but the results are inconsistent. We hypothesized that distinction of traumatic from non-traumatic pain would provide a clearer picture of these factors. The aim of this study is to assess factors associated with lower extremity pain and its impact on preadolescents in a population-based cohort. METHODS: A structured pain questionnaire was completed by 1756 schoolchildren of third and fifth grades to assess musculoskeletal pain, psychosomatic symptoms, subjective disabilities, school absence and frequency of exercise. In addition, hypermobility and physical fitness were measured. RESULTS: The knee was the most common site of pain followed by the ankle-foot and thigh. Of the children who reported pain in their lower extremity, approximately 70% reported at least one disability and 19 % reported school absence attributed to their pain during the previous three-month period. Children with traumatic pain had a higher subjective disability index than those with non-traumatic pain (P = 0.02). Age less than 11 years, headache, abdominal pain, depressive feelings, day tiredness, and vigorous exercise were more common in children with lower limb pain than those free of it. In the stratified analysis, younger age was related to both traumatic and non-traumatic pain groups. Vigorous exercise was positively associated with traumatic pain, while subjects with non-traumatic pain had more frequent psychosomatic symptoms. CONCLUSION: Risk factors and consequences of traumatic and non-traumatic lower limb pain are not similar. Traumatic lower limb pain is associated with practicing vigorous exercise and high level of physical fitness, while non-traumatic pain is more correlated with psychosomatic symptoms. These differences might be one of the reasons for the discrepancy of previous research conclusions. The two conditions need to be treated as different disorders in future studies
Utilization of lime for stabilizing soft clay soil of high organic content
This paper presents the results of geotechnical and mineralogical investigations on lime-treated soft clay soil from Idku City, Egypt, where high organic matters of about 14% exist. Lime was added in the order of 1, 3, 5 and 7% by weight and laboratory experiments after 7, 15, 30 and 60 days were conducted including the mineralogical and microstructural examinations, grain size analysis, plasticity limits, unconfined compressive tests, vane shear tests and oedometer tests. The results indicate that soft clay soil of high organic content of 14% can be stabilized satisfactorily with the addition of 7% lime. The results also demonstrate that the changes in the mineralogical contents and soil fabric of high organic lime-treated soft clay improve soil plasticity, strength and compressibility
The Hep-CORE policy score: A European hepatitis C national policy implementation ranking based on patient organization data.
BACKGROUND content: New hepatitis C virus (HCV) treatments spurred the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2016 to adopt a strategy to eliminate HCV as a public health threat by 2030. To achieve this, key policies must be implemented. In the absence of monitoring mechanisms, this study aims to assess the extent of policy implementation from the perspective of liver patient groups. - Label: METHODS content: "Thirty liver patient organisations, each representing a country, were surveyed in October 2018 to assess implementation of HCV
policies in practice. Respondents received two sets of questions
based on: 1) WHO recommendations; and 2) validated data sources
verifying an existing policy in their country. Academic experts

scores. The similarity scores were calculated for each set with
a multiple joint correspondence analysis. Proxy reference
countries were included as the baseline to contextualize
results. We extracted scores for each country and standardized

countries responded. For the score based on WHO recommendations,
Bulgaria had the lowest score whereas five countries (Cyprus,
Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, and Sweden) had the highest
scores. For the verified policy score, a two-dimensional

whether verified policies were in place and second dimension
scores pertained to the proportion of verified policies in-place
that were implemented. Spain, UK, and Sweden had high scores for
