Debt Covenant Violations of Private Lending Agreements of Agricultural Cooperatives

    Get PDF
Seven years of debt covenant violations of private lending agreements of eighty-three agricultural cooperatives were examined. A LOGIT prediction model of debt covenant violations was developed and the factors that affect debt covenant violations were identified. These factors include cooperative size, working capital, the quick ratio, the existence of a management compensation plan, the tax-exempt status of the cooperative, a bank rating, and the current amount of loan payments.Agribusiness, Agricultural Finance,

How We Talk About Archaeology in the Digital Age

    Get PDF
Abstract Archaeology is known for the research, study, excavation, and exploration of the past. Often the present advancements at hand are not thought about when it comes to this field of study. This paper aims to shine a light on how the digital era has progressed the ways in which the archaeological field opened up like never before due to the all of the social mediums in which archaeologists can share their research and findings. Theory is explored both new and old on globalization within the field and how everything arrived to where it is now. Questions are researched through content analysis of those theories as well as ongoing digital content from those within archaeology. Community building amongst people within the field through social media has allowed for creative explanation and education to the masses. This research paper aims to highlight all of the ways in which the digital era has brought about archaeology to the world. Keywords: archaeology, digital, social, communit

Molien v. Kaiser Foundation Hospitals: Negligent Infliction of Emotional Distress

    Get PDF
In Molien v. Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, the California Supreme Court recognized that the interest in freedom from negligent infliction of mental distress is a protectable interest, and that an accompanying physical injury need not exist in order to recover damages. The author presents a discussion of the history and policies behind the right to recover from negligently inflicted emotional distress. The author also discusses and analyzes the court\u27s opinion in Molien and agrees with the court that the fears of opening the floodgate of litigation which before Molien precluded recovery, was arbitrary. Finally, the author concludes that the holding is part of a natural evolution in the area of negligently inflicted emotional distress, and discusses its probable impact

Performance Validation of Version 152.0 ANSER Control Laws for the F-18 HARV

    Get PDF
The Actuated Nose Strakes for Enhanced Rolling (ANSER) Control Laws were modified as a result of Phase 3 F/A-18 High Alpha Research Vehicle (HARV) flight testing. The control law modifications for the next software release were designated version 152.0. The Ada implementation was tested in the Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) simulation and results were compared to those obtained with the NASA Langley batch Fortran implementation of the control laws which are considered the 'truth model.' This report documents the performance validation test results between these implementations for ANSER control law version 152.0

Performance validation of the ANSER control laws for the F-18 HARV

The ANSER control laws were implemented in Ada by NASA Dryden for flight test on the High Alpha Research Vehicle (HARV). The Ada implementation was tested in the hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation, and results were compared to those obtained with the NASA Langley batch Fortran implementation of the control laws which are considered the 'truth model.' This report documents the performance validation test results between these implementations. This report contains the ANSER performance validation test plan, HIL versus batch time-history comparisons, simulation scripts used to generate checkcases, and detailed analysis of discrepancies discovered during testing

Using the HARV simulation aerodynamic model to determine forebody strake aerodynamic coefficients from flight data

    Get PDF
The method described in this report is intended to present an overview of a process developed to extract the forebody aerodynamic increments from flight tests. The process to determine the aerodynamic increments (rolling pitching, and yawing moments, Cl, Cm, Cn, respectively) for the forebody strake controllers added to the F/A - 18 High Alpha Research Vehicle (HARV) aircraft was developed to validate the forebody strake aerodynamic model used in simulation

Linking Business and Healthcare for the Greater Good

Molloy University just celebrated its tenth year of its renowned Capstone program. In doing so, students who have successfully completed the program (alum) as well as current students were acknowledged for their accomplishments pertaining to their final Capstone projects. This year the consulting teams worked with a fairly large nonprofit, The Hospice Care Network of Northwell Health. This enabled our students to delve into an interdisciplinary study between the Business and Healthcare fields to assist children who have been adversely impacted by the loss of a loved one and who are participants in their bereavement program. The consulting teams not only recommended new and innovative fundraising programs, community outreach programs, and integrative marketing toolkits to increase brand awareness and deliver a consistent marketing message that supports its mission and vision, but the team executed some of these recommendations and it truly transformed all that were involved including the client, faculty, and students collectively. One particular team, the team represented at this conference, was able to monetize their fundraising efforts and partner with Molloy University’s Student Government and Performing Arts Club executive board to build recurring support with “The Night at the Theatre” program that takes place every spring at the University. The Capstone experience continues to contribute toward our students’ personal and academic success. We successfully engage in hands-on transformational learning year over year which shapes the lives of our students and have them graduate with the proper disposition to be tomorrow’s sought-out leaders in their chosen industries. The faculty who instruct the Capstone program truly take pride in this type of real-world endeavor with their student body. This project has made its mark on the hearts and minds of our students as we still continue to collaborate with The Hospice Care Network today. The School is proud of their accomplishments and we have already experienced the impact that our collaboration has had on society through the diligent work and commitment our students have put forth to assist children in need

An Exploratory Investigation of Comparisons of Student Evaluations of Learning Pre and Post COVID-19 at Private and Public Universities

Although universities attempted to provide as little disruption to student learning as possible, problems arose with their responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. The current literature is rich with studies reporting experiences with the transition to the virtual learning of the pandemic era. In pursuit of the most effective learning and instructional modes to transition to in times of crisis, university administrators and faculty members need to know more regarding what worked and did not work in the initial response to the COVID- 19 crisis. Questions remain. Given the pre-COVID-19 dominance of face-to-face instruction did student opinion of online learning change based on their experiences with the mandated transitions to virtual learning? Are the perceptions different for students at private versus public and small versus large institutions? This paper reports the results of an exploratory study of these bifurcations based on an online survey of student opinion conducted in Spring 2021. The findings provide some insight to student perceptions of the efficacy of the changed learning environment experienced by the subject populations

Creating an Aural History: The Detroit Concert Band's Sousa American Bicentennial Collection

The name Leonard B. Smith has permeated the wind band world for many years. Known primarily as conductor of the Detroit Concert Band, the extent of Smith’s musical heritage and legacy have been largely forgotten over the years. Smith was a workhorse who felt it his purpose in life to continue and preserve the legacy of his boyhood idol, John Philip Sousa. In no way is this more evident than in the band’s ten-album series titled the Sousa American Bicentennial Collection. Considered by his contemporaries to be the foremost interpreter of Sousa’s works, Smith set out to record all one hundred sixteen known Sousa marches. This series, created by Leonard B. Smith and the members of the Detroit Concert Band, acts as an aural history of Sousa’s legacy. In addition to preserving Smith’s musical interpretation of Sousa’s works, the collaboration with several former Sousa band members and Sousa’s biographer, Paul Bierley, elevate the significance of the recordings. Smith believed that the repertoire of the professional band movement was important and deserved the same respect as other major facets of music history. Because of his belief and undying reverence for John Philip Sousa, we have a musical record that future generations are able to consult
