    Get PDF
The paper presents an approach of researches effective organization in sphere of operational IT risk governance. For this purpose, the application of digital multilanguage research area is advised, which can simplify discussion processes for users/researchers from different countries. The concept of multilanguage website is developed based on performed analysis of following modern IT application trends of website development: Web 2.0., social networks, blogs, wiki, etc. Then, practical solutions of advised concept realization are discussed. The presented concept is developed within the project, which is devoted to the research of operational IT risk governance in monetary and financial institutions. Still, the advised concept can be easily adapted for other research area

    No full text
This paper summarizes the research in the field of modelling and simulation of complex systems conducted in recent years at the Department of Modelling and Simulation of Riga Technical University under the supervision of the corresponding member of the Latvian Academy of Sciences, Prof., Dr.habil.sc.ing. Yuri Merkuryev (Jurijs Merkurjevs). The main attention is devoted to developments within integrated simulation methodologies that incorporate simulation with other scientific approaches for the analysis, optimisation and management of complex systems, with a special focus on logistics systems. Practical application of the developed methods is considered by referencing to implemented research projects. Future research directions are also discussed

Business Simulation Game Development for Education and Training in Supply Chain Management

    No full text
This paper presents a simulation-based business game for training and education in the area of supply chain management. It starts with a short review of existing simulation games used for training and education in supply chain management, which is followed by a brief description of the ECLIPS game that has been developed for providing an insight into various aspects of supply chain management, with opportunity to analyze different supply chain structures and control mechanisms. In particular, the application of the ECLIPS game to comparison of different supply chain inventory management policies, including non-cyclic and cyclic ones, is provided. Also, the paper presents a special computer-aided tool that allows testing and evaluating various scenarios of the ECLIPS game. The method of scenario evaluation is described as well

DEVS-Based Interactive Geosimulation Framework for Public Transport Analysis and Planning

    No full text
The paper presents a new DEVS-based simulation framework for multi-modal public transport analysis and planning based on the concept of geosimulation that integrates the capabilities of multi-agent modelling and geographical information systems. The proposed framework provides such important simulation aspects as execution possibilities of large-scale models, the support of user interactivity during the simulation execution process, as well as an effective synchronization between simulation and visualization processes. Underlying concepts, implementation details and evaluation results of the proposed framework are discussed. The practical importance and application possibilities of the research results are demonstrated by analysing public transport simulation scenarios for the Vidzeme planning region of Latvia

A Theoretical Framework for a Simulation-Based Analysis of Supply Chain Risk Management

    No full text
Supply chain management under uncertainty and risk has become the target of extensive research. A review of the corresponding literature indicates mainly theoretical approaches, which attempt to provide solutions to certain problems. In this chapter, a theoretical framework of supply chain risks analysis is proposed. Within this framework, studied risks are determined by possible disruptions that affect supply chain ability to function normally. Thus, supply chain performance parameters are taken as a basis for a risk measurement system. Correspondingly, supply chain reliability parameters and performance fluctuations are studied in order to manage risks. A possible implementation of the proposed framework is discussed through the presentation of a simulation example. Still, the evaluation of the proposed framework’s practical application remains an item of the future research agenda. The ultimate objective of the research presented in this chapter is the elaboration of a software solution for supply chain modelling and risk evaluation

    No full text
This paper addresses the discrete event simulation-based approach to logistic system analysis. A classification of logistic systems models is introduced, examples of simulation projects are provided, and a typical structure of a simulation project is considered; in particular, the conceptual modeling project stage is described. The paper is of topical character, and thus it fulfills the authors’ purpose to show the potentialities of simulation-based research of logistic systems and to emphasize their important features

Simulation-Based Risk Measurement in Supply Chains

    No full text
Because of modern supply chains complexity, supply chain managers are presently making decisions which are associated with some risk. This paper discusses risk problem in supply chains and presents a supply chain risk assessment approach. The Beer Game model, which is a simplified example of a supply chain, is used to demonstrate application of the suggested risk assessment approach. Two risk events are taken into account: inventory excessive accumulation and backordering. Simulation experiments with the computerised version of the Beer Game show that the approach presented can be used for assessing supply chain risk; at the same time, it is possible to illustrate risk occurrence using the Beer Game model
