The Extent to which the Chemistry Textbook of Grade 11 is Appropriate for Learner-Centered Approach
The purpose of this study was to identify the extent to which the chemistry textbook of grade 11 in Ethiopian schools is appropriate for learner-centered approach. The content of the new chemistry textbook for grade 11 was analyzed vis-à-vis the suggested evidence of learnercentered techniques. The analysis covered the components of the textbook such as objectives, texts, activities, questions, and figures and diagrams. The results of content analysis revealed that only the activities given in the text encourage student’s involvement in the teaching learning process
Environmental and Cultural Predisposition of Human Behavior
The notion of groups is discussed in this article. Groups are a vast concept that are not just relevant to people, but also to other living entities than humans. When people have similar thoughts or experiences on how to meet their needs, group formation might occur. This article's objective is to familiarize the reader with the concept of groups and to explain how one can form a general description of groups by first comprehending the formation process, the formation of groups, the characteristics and types of groups, and other topics related to familiarizing oneself with and comprehending formal groups as well as the behavior of individuals within those groups
Arbitrability of Administrative Contracts Under Ethiopian Legal System: Critical Appraisal
Disputes or differences between or claims of the parties which may arise from certain legal relationship could be settled outside of ordinary courts through the mechanism called alternative or amicable dispute resolution mechanisms, alternative to the litigation. These extra-judicial mechanisms of resolving disputes or differences or claims of the parties, inter alia, are negotiation, mediation and arbitration. The first two are essentially negotiation mechanisms and the third one is decisional mechanism where parties’ appointed judges or experts give decision on the point on which parties are at issue based on the principles of the law. The point of worth consideration is to wonder if all matters are capable of settlement by arbitration. Based on county’s public policy consideration, some matters are arbitrable whereas other matters are in arbitrable. The objective of this paper is to analyze whether disputes emanating from administrative contracts are capable of settlement by arbitration or otherwise in Ethiopia under the relevant laws and to survey what the practice looks like in relation to the same. Thus, doctrinal legal research methodology is employed to attain the objective. The findings of the study reveal that there is no uniform practice as to arbitrability of administrative contracts in Ethiopia and there is also no administrative procedure legislation that addresses the problem at hand. The economic performance of the New England states in 2004: an overview
The year 2004 marked the beginning of New England’s economic turnaround. After three consecutive years of job losses — not to mention 86 years of World Series famine — the region emerged victorious. All six New England states added jobs over the course of the year and experienced reductions in unemployment. Job growth in the region, however, was sluggish compared with the nation overall. Recovery was also reflected in strong exports growth, increases in the economic activity index, and improved consumer confidence. Although consumer price inflation in New England was milder than in recent years, home prices continued to escalate at above-average rates.Economic conditions - New England
Thermal and spectroscopic studies of polymer protective coatings used in optical fibers technology
An important factor determining the quality of optical fibers is their mechanical reliability. The control of the mechanical reliability allows define the lifetime of a fiber, which was under the stress during the work. Decisive influences on the mechanical and optical properties of the optical fibers have the protective coatings. Optical fiber technology requires that the coatings were applied on them on-line, directly after they have been drawn. So far, little attention has been paid to optimizing the conditions of coatings curing. In this work, the comparison of a thermoanalytical and spectroscopic analysis of coatings that were cured in an UV oven in which the power of the UV lamps was changed will be shown. As part of the research tasks, completed mechanical strength measurements were made with a silica fiber of 0.125 mm diameter
Impact of thermal pre-treatment on preforms for fast Bragg gratings inscription using undoped PMMA POFs
In this work, improvements in the photosensitivity of undoped POFs, where there was a welldefined pre-annealing of both preforms in two-step process, were reported. We have noticed that when the primary and secondary preforms are annealed, the fiber photosensitivity is higher; otherwise, if any preform (primary or secondary) is not annealed, the fiber photosensitivity is lower. Two PMMA mPOFs are used where the primary and secondary preforms, during the two-step drawing process, have a different thermal treatment. The PMMA POFs drawn where the primary or secondary preform is not specifically pre-treat need longer inscription time than the fibres drawn where both preforms have been pre-annealed at 80°C for 2 weeks. Using two different UV lasers, for the latter fibre much less inscription time is needed compared to another homemade POF. The properties of a POF fabricated where there are both preform process with thermal treatment is different from those where just one preform step process is thermal treated, as previously shown in the literature, where these POFs are much less sensitive to thermal treatment. Some important parameters were considered such as drawing tension and water content, where using fibers drawn in different tensions give us a similar FBG inscription time
