    High-Energy Proton-Proton Forward Scattering and Derivative Analyticity Relations

    We present the results of several parametrizations to two different ensemble of data on pppp total cross sections σtotpp\sigma_{tot}^{pp} at the highest center-of-mass energies (including cosmic-ray information). The results are statistically consistent with two distinct scenarios at high energies. From one ensemble the prediction for the LHC (s=14\sqrt s = 14 TeV) is σtotpp=113±5\sigma_{tot}^{pp} = 113 \pm 5 mb and from the other, σtotpp=140±7\sigma_{tot}^{pp}=140 \pm 7 mb. From each parametrization, and making use of derivative analyticity relations (DAR), we determine ρ(s)\rho(s) (ratio between the forward real and imaginary parts of the elastic scattering amplitude).     A New Phenomenology for the Disordered Mixed Phase

    A universal phase diagram for type-II superconductors with weak point pinning disorder is proposed. In this phase diagram, two thermodynamic phase transitions generically separate a ``Bragg glass'' from the disordered liquid. Translational correlations in the intervening ``multi-domain glass'' phase are argued to exhibit a significant degree of short-range order.     The Mediating Role of Contentment Experience: Influence of Job Embeddedness on Mattering and Employee Sustainable Performance

    Purpose: The objective of our research is to examine the effects of job embeddedness on contentment experience, anti-mattering, and employee sustainable performance. The study also tested the impact of contentment experience and anti-mattering on the outcome variable i.e., employee sustainable performance.   Theoretical framework: The results of this study indicate that job embeddedness has a positive effect on employee sustainable performance. Contentment experience has a positive effect on employee sustainable performance, but it has a negative effect on mattering. Mattering has a negative effect on employee sustainable performance.   Design/methodology/approach: This research will be conducted using a quantitative, cross-sectional survey design. Data were collected using online surveys administered to a sample of employees from various IT industries. Questionnaires were distributed to 302 employees in various IT sectors in and around Tamilnadu. There are two Mediator’s hypotheses were estimated using process macro using the Andrew Hayes model.   Findings: The findings indicate that job embeddedness has a positive effect on employee performance, and that contentment experience and mattering have a significant impact on employee sustainable performance.   Research, Practical & Social Implication: It provides the necessary understanding of how job embeddedness is related to employee sustainability performance and how to create an environment that fosters employee contentment, thereby leading to better performance. The findings of this research can be used to create a work environment that is conducive to employee sustainability performance.   Originality/value: The study is the first to examine the impact of contentment experience and mattering on employee sustainable performance.     Analytic Solutions to the Constraint Equation for a Force-Free Magnetosphere around a Kerr Black Hole

    The Blandford-Znajek constraint equation for a stationary, axisymmetric black-hole force-free magnetosphere is cast in a 3+1 absolute space and time formulation, following Komissarov (2004). We derive an analytic solution for fields and currents to the constraint equation in the far-field limit that satisfies the Znajek condition at the event horizon. This solution generalizes the Blandford-Znajek monopole solution for a slowly rotating black hole to black holes with arbitrary angular momentum. Energy and angular momentum extraction through this solution occurs mostly along the equatorial plane.     PRIMARY ECTOPIC PAPILLARY CARCINOMA OF THYROID IN THE LARYNX: AN UNUSUAL PRESENTATION

     Ectopic thyroid is the result of the failure of migration of thyroid along its tract from the floor of the primitive foregut to its final pretracheal position. The incidence of an ectopic lesion in adults is 7%. Most common location is the base of tongue (lingual). Other diverse sites are larynx, trachea, mediastinum, and pericardium. These ectopic tissues may develop the same diseases as the thyroid gland. Here, we report a case of a young female presenting with a foreign body sensation in the throat and on examination revealed a smooth submucosal swelling involving the supraglottis. The entire cyst was excised in toto by KTP 532 laser via an endolaryngeal approach and it was reported as papillary carcinoma of the thyroid. Literature search reported only a few cases of intralaryngeal ectopic thyroid and none with a papillary carcinoma of the larynx. This is the first reported case of papillary carcinoma of thyroid in the larynx

    Limits on monopole fluxes from KFG experiment

    The nucleon decay experiment at KGF at a depth of 2.3 Km is eminently suited for the search of Grand Unified theory (GUT) monopoles, whose velocities at the present epoch are predicted to be around 0.001C. At this depth the cosmic ray background is at a level 2/day in the detector of size 4m x 6m x 3.7m and one can look for monopoles traversing the detector in all directions, using three methods, i.e., (1) dE/dx (ionization); (2) time of flight and (3) catalysis of nucleon decay. The detector is composed of 34 layers of proportional counters arranged in horizontal planes one above the other in an orthogonal maxtrix. Each of the 1594 counters are instrumented to measure ionization in the gas (90% Argon + 10% Methane) as well as the time of arrival of particles

    Proton Magnetic Resonance of Western Red Cedar

    The potential of proton magnetic resonance techniques, in particular magnetic resonance imaging, for analysis of western red cedar has been investigated. Proton magnetic resonance experiments were carried out on normal sapwood, heartwood and juvenile wood and on rotten juvenile wood from western red cedar logs at a range of hydration levels. Signals from the solid wood and the water were readily distinguishable, and the solid wood signal was characterized by its second moment, which was about 5 x 109 s-2 above the saturation point for all samples and increased by about 20% below the fiber saturation point. The water signal was separated into earlywood tracheid lumen water, latewood tracheid and ray lumen water, and bound water on the basis of spin-spin relaxation times. In the normal log, heartwood and juvenile wood had substantially less water and also shorter spin-spin relaxation times than the sapwood. The rot sample had considerably more water than normal juvenile wood. With proton NMR the sapwood/heartwood boundary of western red cedar can be distinguished easily, but the heartwood/juvenile wood boundary is more difficult to discern. Rot should be identifiable from surrounding normal wood, especially if in heartwood or juvenile wood. With current technology, magnetic resonance imaging facilities can produce cross-sectional images of whole cedar logs; however these images are mainly of earlywood tracheid lumen water and hence show only about 60% of the water in a normal western red cedar log
