Sociolinguistic Factors in the Development of English Language Proficiency Among Students in Malaysia
Sociolinguistics factors influence the level of English Language proficiency among Malaysian students. There are three contextual factors involved which are the participants, the environment and culture. Participants refer to the students who come from different backgrounds with diverse needs and goals of learning the language. Language distance, native language proficiency, prior knowledge of the second language, dialect and register language status and attitudes play a crucial role in this factor. Besides that, the participants' integrative and instrumental motivations are also contributing factors to the different level of proficiency in second language acquisition. The second factors is the environment which includes home support, the school environment and the community. Home support is concerned with atmosphere that parents create at home regarding language use, the school environment refers to peer groups, teachers and the learning process, whereas the community deals with the society that the students interact with. Finally cultural factors such as cultural differences and settings also have brought the different levels of proficiency among students in Malaysia
Pengaruh Tingkat Literasi Media pada Ibu Rumah Tangga dan Ibu Bekerja di DKI Jakarta terhadap Kemampuan Mengidentifikasi Misinformasi di WhatsApp
Hadirnya internet juga berdampak negatif yakni mengalirnya informasi secara berlebihan atau banjir informasi. Banyak informasi yang bukan fakta, sehingga menyebabkan kekacauan informasi terutama di media sosial. Salah satu media sosial yang jumlah penggunanya masif dan mudah untuk berbagi informasi ialah aplikasi pesan instan WhatsApp. Hal ini menarik perhatian peneliti untuk merancang penelitian berjudul "Pengaruh Tingkat Literasi Media pada Ibu Rumah Tangga dan Ibu Bekerja di DKI Jakarta terhadap Kemampuan Mengidentifikasi Misinformasi di WhatsApp". Fenomena tadi lebih dikenal sebagai hoaks (berita palsu), namun peneliti memilih menggunakan istilah misinformasi, mengikuti anjuran dari UNESCO. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui tingkat literasi media dan kemampuan mengidentifikasi misinformasi di WhatsApp pada ibu rumah tangga dan ibu bekerja di DKI Jakarta beserta perbedaannya, dan pengaruh tingkat literasi media dua kelompok tersebut terhadap kemampuan mengidentifikasi misinformasi di WhatsApp. Penelitian kuantitatif ini menggunakan metode survei, uji beda t-test, dan teknik analisis uji regresi linear sederhana. Penyebaran kuesioner secara daring dan luring mampu menjangkau 413 responden. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tingkat literasi media ibu rumah tangga dan ibu bekerja di DKI Jakarta tergolong tinggi dan terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan. Kemampuan mengidentifikasi misinformasi di WhatsApp mereka tergolong sedang dan tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan. Terdapat pengaruh tingkat literasi media terhadap kemampuan mengidentifikasi misinformasi sebesar 26,4%
Improving Students’ Vocabulary Mastery By Using Vocabulary Notebooks At Grade V.C Of SDN 025 Bukit Raya Pekanbaru
Penilitian ini mengkaji tentang permalahan siswa dalam keterampilan berbahasa.Peneliti menemukan siswa-siswi kelas V.C SDN 025 Bukit Raya Pekanbaru memiliki masalah dalam kosa kata mereka. Sebagai solusi, peneliti melakukan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) untuk mengaplikasikan sebuah teknik, vocabulary notebooks. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Peneliti dibantu oleh kolaborator dalam mengumpulkan data yang diperoleh melalui observasi, catatan lapangan, test, dan wawancara.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan penguasaan kosa kata siswa-siswi dengan menggunakan vocabulary notebook
