Green marketing is a latest addition in the field of business. Consumers are now very much careful due to information and communication technology in choosing products. Food scientists are also helping the marketers to develop green products. Green marketing is a popular concept in recent times. This concept is expanding not only in asia but also around the world. There is a huge prospect of green marketing in Bangladesh. Green marketing is the ethical marketing considering the environment that ensures safety of the consumers. It can bring new dimension in the field of business with proper implementation of green marketing policies and strategies. Keywords: Green Marketing, Marketing mix, Business environment

Species Selection and Nursery Technique Adoption for Seedling Establishment in Bangladesh — Towards Enhancing Plantation Programme

Small-scale nursery owners can play a vital role in biodiversity conservation through providing seedlings of forest tree species, horticultural species, flower species and medicinal plants to afforestation, reforestation, social forestry, agro-forestry, shelter belt and home gardening in Bangladesh. The present study of the nursery status of Bangladesh investigated socio-demographic characteristics, farm and farming characteristics, species selection and adoption of nursery techniques by small-scale nursery owners. A survey was conducted of 252 sample nurseries which were selected randomly. The investigation revealed that majority of the nursery owners were mid-aged (30–49 years) male (82.4%) people who took it as primary occupation (86.3%) for more than 20 years (38.1%), but a considerable amount of the respondents had no schooling (34%). Most of the owners rented a small area of land (0.5–5 acre) for the activities on a term basis. About 39.9% of the respondents raised planting materials for horticultural and forest tree species together. The study revealed that fruit-bearing (RF-28.69) and fast-growing species (RF-17.47) were considered as the criteria for species selection. Mangefera indica, Manilkara zopota, Zizyphus mauritiana, Lichi chinensis, Artocarpus heterophyllus, Spondia dulcis, Citrus citrus, Swietenia mahagoni, Psidium guajava, Cocos nucifera, Albizia lebeck, Citrus grandis, Feronia limonia, Averrhoa carabola, Dulbergia sissoo were the top-ranked species preferred by the nursery owners. Majority of the respondents practiced grafting and budding for vegetative propagation and practiced submersion of seeds under water and scarification as pre-sowing treatment for seed germination. On the basis of research findings, it is suggested to facilitate widespread acceptance of forest tree species, along with fruit-bearing species, and take account of small-scale nursery owners’ views and preferences for achieving adoption of forest tree-based farming systems in a climate change situation

Comments on Information Erasure in Black Hole

We analyze the Kim, Lee & Lee model of information erasure by black holes and find contradictions with standard physical laws. We demonstrate that the erasure model leads to arbitrarily fast information erasure; the proposed physical interpretation of information freezing at the event horizon as observed by an asymptotic observer is problematic; and information erasure, whatever the process may be, near the black hole horizon leads to contradictions with quantum mechanics if Landauer's principle is assumed. The later part of the work demonstrates the significance of the "erasure entropy." We show that the erasure entropy is the mutual information between two subsystems.Comment: 13 pages, clarified some issues in detai

Contemporary Responses to The Criticism of Islamic Banks in Malaysia

The rapid growth of Islamic banks has become a focus of all investors and consumers. Malaysia has put in a lot of effort to develop and gather acceptance from all citizens of the country for Islamic banking. Hence, throughout the sector’s expansion, there have been several critics, such asshariah scholars, investors, and consumers. For instance; a lack of shariah experts in both economics and shariah itself, interest rates as benchmark, similarities with conventional banks etc. As the Malaysian Islamic banking system is growing and expanding, as are its critics. Therefore, the main purpose of this study to provide adequate arguments on the contemporary criticisms and challenges being faced by Islamic banks in Malaysia. This study has adopted a qualitative approach; conducting semi-structured interviews and observations. The findings recognised shariah compliancy, interest rates as a benchmark, and a lack of shariah scholars are the most pertinent current issues for Islamic banks in Malaysia. Through the supports of scholars, policy makers, and consumers, these issues can be resolved over time with Islamic finance literacy. The outcome of this study may benefit policy makers, investors, Muslim consumers, as well as stakeholders of Islamic banking and finance

A Study of Bank Line Shifting of the Selected Reach of Jamuna River Using Multi-Variant Regression Model

Jamuna river is a morphologically very dynamic river. It carries a vast sediment load from the erosive foothills of Himalaya mountain. The length of the Jamuna River is 220 km. For this research work Jamalpur district is selected to assess morphological changes using hydrodynamic, Artificial intelligence and google satellite images. First, the hydrodynamic model was calibrated and validated at Kazipur station for the years 2018 and 2019 respectively. Then, left overbank maximum discharge, water level, velocity, the slope was extracted from HEC-RAS 1D at 300 m interval interpolated cross-section. Then, this cross-section was exported as a shapefile. In google earth, the erosion rate was measured corresponding to this interpolated cross-section. The results of the hydrodynamic model were given as input variable and erosion rate as an output variable in Machine learning and deep learning technique. Calibration and validation of the regression model was done for the years 2018 and 2019 respectively. This research work can be helpful to locate the area which are vulnerable to bank erosion

Synthesis, Antimicrobial, and DFT Studies of Some Benzyl 4-O-Acyl-α-L-rhamnopyranosides

Application of carbohydrate fatty acid (CFA) esters in food and beverage industries has increased their interest in other fields. Especially rhamnopyranoside esters having both the hydrophilic and lipophilic nature had broader applications including anticancer activities. Benzyl α-L-rhamnopyranoside, prepared from L-rhamnose, on 2,3-O-isopropylidene protection with 2,2-dimethoxypropane followed by acylation at C-4 hydroxyl position with different acylating agents furnished the corresponding 4-O-acyl-α-L-rhamnopyranosides in good yields. All the compounds were well characterized by spectroscopic techniques. In vitro antimicrobial activities against eight bacterial and two fungal pathogens indicated that these 2,3-O-isopropylidene protected rhamnopyranosides had weak to moderate inhibitory properties. To rationalize such moderate activities structural (conformational) distortion of these monoacetonide protected CFA esters were studied from the density functional theory (DFT) optimized structures. In addition, thermodynamic properties including frontier molecular orbitals of the synthesized rhamnopyranosides were calculated and discussed. Corroboration of all the studies signifies that the moderate antimicrobial efficacy of the isopropylidene protected rhamnopyranosides might be due to their distorted conformations, lower softness and smaller dipole moments.
