A Re-Evaluation of the San Juan Basket Maker Culture and Possible Relationships to Non-Ceramic Group
In summary, the purpose of this study may be stated as follows: by utilizing intensive and comparative archaeological data and also reasonable inference derived from ethnologic data, it is hoped that there can be presented a more precise and refined picture of the various groups of people whose material-culture remains are considered representative of the Basket Maker culture. It is the further intention of this study to examine critically the postulated development of such groups into later culture horizons classified as early Pueblo

Carson Lake Punctated: Sociological implications of a ceramic motif from the Central Mississippi Valley
A distinctive ceramic motif, a series of punctations within a pendant triangular field, has a limited distribution within the central portion of the Nodena phase region of northeastern Arkansas and southeastern Missouri. Based on the presence of key horizon markers, the ceramic crafting took place within a generation or two during the protohistoric period. The motif\u27s distribution is suggestive of a localized group of potters engaged in some type of religious or social interaction. In this article, we briefly outline a model to interpret this distinctive cluster of a ceramic motif
New Perspectives on Mississippian Occupations in Western Tennessee and Northwestern Mississippi: Recent Chronological and Geophysical Investigations at Chucalissa (40SY1), Shelby County, Tennessee
Investigations at Chucalissa (40SY1) in Shelby County, Tennessee, have been instrumental in establishing Mississippian period chronology for southwestern Tennessee and much of the surrounding region. Excavations conducted in 2003 produced a suite of new radiocarbon dates that has provided a refined developmental lineage of occupations in West Tennessee and nortlnvestern Mississippi, while geophysical investigations in 2011 have clarified our understanding of the late prehistoric occupation of the site and validated suggestions of distinctive mound architecture in a region extending over a large portion of the Southeast
An experiment in ceramic description: Upper nodena
This paper presents a quantitative method to isolate and describe typical bowls, jars, and bottles in collections of complete vessels from individual sites or portions thereof. Given an adequate description of typical or core vessel forms, nontypical forms can be effectively isolated and examined. Qualitative attributes can be attached subsequently to the quantitatively defined forms. The approach advocated permits effective quantitative intra- and intersite comparisons of vessel collections
Volcanic Hazard Assessments for Nuclear Installations: Methods and Examples in Site Evaluation
This publication provides information on detailed methodologies and examples in the application of volcanic hazard assessment to site evaluation for nuclear installations, thereby addressing the recommendations in IAEA Safety Standards Series No. SSG-21, Volcanic Hazards in Site Evaluation for Nuclear Installations. It demonstrates the practicability of evaluating the recommendations through a systematic volcanic hazard assessment and examples from Member States. The results of this hazard assessment can be used to derive the appropriate design bases and operational considerations for specific nuclear installations
