    Magnetic Measurements on Ga1-xMnxS in High Fields Using the Cantilever Technique

    High field magnetic measurements have been taken on the III-VI Diluted Magnetic Semiconductor Ga1-xMnxS at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory. This paper discusses the calibration of magnetic measurements made using the cantilever technique. It has been discovered that efficiency of cantilevers may decline over time, signaled by the onset of an oscillatory effect in the cantilever data

    Malgrat que els insectes constitueixen una font de proteïnes molt prometedora i es consumeixen en països arreu del món, acostumen a ser rebutjats per al consum alimentari en les societats occidentals. El rebuig d'un menjar té l'origen en diversos factors, però entre tots, el fàstic sol ser el més important. Aquest problema és el que va abordar el taller "Insectes, menjar i disseny" que es va dur a terme a ELISAVA, amb la finalitat de canviar la percepció sobre aquesta qüestió. El taller va consistir en una primera exploració sobre la manera de cuinar insectes, seguida d'una fase d'ideació per buscar propostes que, en tant que fos possible, fessin atractius els insectes per al seu consum.Despite the fact that insects are a promising source of proteins and are consumed in many countries, they are often rejected as food in Western societies. Food can be refused for a number of different reasons, among which repulsion appears to have workshop entitled "Insects, Food and Design" held at ELISAVA to explore changing Western perceptions of eating insects. The workshop began investigating the cooking of insects, and the following ideation phase addressed people's motivations to make insects appealing.     A sockets application programming interface for the Petite Amateur Naval Satellite

    The Petite Amateur Naval Satellite (PANSAT) is an operational communications microsatellite designed at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS). PANSAT's communications software was intended to be developed after orbital insertion and transmitted to the satellite. The Sockets Application Programming Interface (API) developed at the University of California, Berkeley is the de facto standard API for network applications. It provides a strong and flexible platform on which to develop a wide variety of programs. It accelerates the development of new applications by providing a standard set of features and isolating the program from the underlying networking mechanisms. This thesis studied the viability of implementing of a Sockets API for PANSAT based on the Berkeley Sockets. PANSAT's Sockets API was built on BekTek's spacecraft Operating System (SCOS). Because SCOS source code was not available, network protocols had to be implemented in user mode. SCOS is optimized for multiple small tasks, not the complex processes required for Internet programming. Because of SCOS' limitations in memory management, the development of this protocol stack and API was not successful.     Tujuan penelitian ini antara lain (1) untuk menganalisis pengaruh likuiditas terhadap kondisi financial distress perusahaan manufaktur yang terdaftar di BEI; (2) untuk menganalisis pengaruh profitabilitas terhadap kondisi financial distress perusahaan manufaktur yang terdaftar di BEI; (3) untuk menganalisis pengaruh financial leverage terhadap kondisi financial distress perusahaan manufaktur yang terdaftar di BEI; (4) untuk menganalisis pengaruh arus kas operasi terhadap kondisi financial distress perusahaan manufaktur yang terdaftar di BEI. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh perusahaan manufaktur yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia periode 2006-2010. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah metode purposive sampling. Sampel penelitian sebanyak 62 perusahaan dengan jumlah observasi 310. Metode analisis data yang digunakan regresi logistik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa likuiditas tidak berpengaruh terhadap kondisi financial distress. Profitabilitas berpengaruh terhadap kondisi financial distress. Financial leverage tidak berpengaruh terhadap kondisi financial distress. Arus kas dari aktivitas operasi berpengaruh terhadap kondisi financial distress perusahaan manufaktur yang terdaftar di BEI.     Predictive Value of Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Feature Tracking after Acute Myocardial Infarction: A Comparison with Dobutamine Stress Echocardiography

    [EN] In acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) may underestimate segmental functional recovery. We evaluated the predictive value of cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) feature-tracking (FT) for functional recovery and whether it incremented the value of LGE compared to low-dose dobutamine stress echocardiography (LDDSE) and speckle-tracking echocardiography (STE). Eighty patients underwent LDDSE and CMR within 5-7 days after STEMI and segmental functional recovery was defined as improvement in wall-motion at 6-months CMR. Optimal conventional and FT parameters were analyzed and then also applied to an external validation cohort of 222 STEMI patients. Circumferential strain (CS) was the strongest CMR-FT predictor and addition to LGE increased the overall accuracy to 74% and was especially relevant in segments with 50-74% LGE (AUC 0.60 vs. 0.75, p = 0.001). LDDSE increased the overall accuracy to 71%, and in the 50-74% LGE subgroup improved the AUC from 0.60 to 0.69 (p = 0.039). LGE + CS showed similar value as LGE + LDDSE. In the validation cohort, CS was also the strongest CMR-FT predictor of recovery and addition of CS to LGE improved overall accuracy to 73% although this difference was not significant (AUC 0.69, p = 0.44). Conclusion: CS is the strongest CMR-FT predictor of segmental functional recovery after STEMI. Its incremental value to LGE is comparable to that of LDDSE whilst avoiding an inotropic stress agent.     Identification of a targetable KRAS-mutant epithelial population in non-small cell lung cancer

    Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths. Tumor heterogeneity, which hampers development of targeted therapies, was herein deconvoluted via single cell RNA sequencingin aggressive human adenocarcinomas (carrying Kras-mutations) and comparable murine model. We identified a tumor-specific, mutant-KRAS-associated subpopulation which is conserved in both human and murine lung cancer. We previously reported a key role for the oncogene BMI-1 in adenocarcinomas. We therefore investigated the effects of in vivo PTC596 treatment, which affects BMI-1 activity, in our murine model. Post-treatment, MRI analysis showed decreased tumor size, while single cell transcriptomics concomitantly detected near complete ablation of the mutant-KRAS-associated subpopulation, signifying the presence of a pharmacologically targetable, tumor-associated subpopulation. Our findings therefore hold promise for the development of a targeted therapy for KRAS-mutant adenocarcinomas

Actualment funciona amb fulls de càlcul i processadors de text, i existeix una manca important d’ordre. Per tant, necessita modernitzar i estructurar la gestió el taller. El següent projecte pretén assolir l’objectiu de millorar la gestió, oferir a aquesta empresa l'agilització de tots els seus processos i evitar la pèrdua de dades mitjançant l'elaboració d'una aplicació que permetrà controlar de forma centralitzada tots les funcions i processos del taller, referents a la facturació
