Economic vs. regulatory capital of financial institutions This thesis is focused on Assets and Liability Management connected with economic and regulatory capital. The main aim is to analyze development of these capitals and their influence on bank's output. In the first, theoretical, part of thesis we follow up the division of risk categories, we define an economic capital and its management and quantification methods. Then we focused on development of international bank regulation and its current and future state. The regulatory capital is defined as well as its management. The last chapter of theoretical part is dedicated to ratings. Then the most important, analytical, part follows. We analyze data of top 50 world banks from year 2007 to 2011. We use especially quantitative methods and OLS regression. We investigate development of economic and regulatory capital during and after the crisis and changes in division of risks they cover. We looking for a relationship between these capitals as well as its impact on bank's rating. At the end of the analysis we focused on relationship between capital adequacy and bank's profitability and we consider reasons of bank's lack of transparency about economic capital. Finally we conclude the results of the analysis. The most important discovery is undermining of..

COMPARISON OF THE INJURY PREVENTION LEVEL IN VOLLEYBALL AMONG CZECH EXTRALEAGUE TEAMS AND MEN TEAMS ABROAD Objectives: The main objective of this work is to compare the level of injury prevention in volleyball among Czech Kooperativa extraleague teams and selected leading men teams abroad. In the first case there will be a comparison from the players "point of view", it means what sort of prevention and in which level it is accomplished by the players, further on there will be a comparison from the team "point of view", it means what sort of prevention and in which level they are paid by the clubs. Methods: For the research was used a method of expert assortment by means of nonstandardised questionaires with closed and semiclosed questions. The purpose of the research was to find out and compare what sort of injury prevention the top volleyball players in Czech and abroad do and the level of reimbursement by the clubs. We also wanted to specify if any items in daily prevention and weekly one are positively corelated. Results: We have found out that clubs abroad reimburse much more and in higher level nearly all means of active injury prevention and the most applied activity of injury prevention among top volleyball players is strenghtening. It was also found out that each of the probands taking..

The effect of the wind conditions on the thermal performance of an unglazed solar thermal collector

    No full text
The paper presents a theoretical analysis performed for unglazed liquid solar thermal collectors (USTCs) to demonstrate the magnitude of the thermal performance uncertainty caused by the different wind conditions under the same wind speed. The literature currently comprises more than 90 combined convection heat transfer correlations. The difference between them is primarily caused by the difference in wind characteristics during the experiment (wind turbulence level, wind direction, etc.). A detailed validated theoretical model of a USTC and forty applicable combined convection heat transfer correlations were used to perform the analysis to demonstrate the magnitude of the thermal performance uncertainty caused by the different wind conditions. It was found that, for the low operating temperature, the uncertainties caused by the different wind conditions are ± 4 %, ± 6 %, and ± 8.5 % under wind speeds of 0 m/s, 1.5 m/s, and 3 m/s, respectively. These values are relatively small compared to the obtained average thermal performance values of 78 %, 73 %, and 65 %. In contrast, the uncertainty values are significant for relatively high operation temperatures: ± 11.5 %, ± 16.5 %, and ± 22 %, while the modelled efficiency values for these operating conditions are 15 %, 30 %, and 44 %. The analysis demonstrated that the difference in wind characteristics under the same wind speed significantly affects a USTC's thermal performance. From a practical standpoint, the USTC's thermal performance in real wind conditions may exhibit significant disparities compared to its performance tested in controlled laboratory conditions under the same wind speed. Furthermore, notably varied thermal performance can be expected for identical USTCs installed in different locations under the same wind speed due to the different wind characteristics (wind turbulence level, wind direction, etc.)

Performance of heat pump system for water heating in European climate

    No full text
A performance of air-to-water and brine-to-water heat pump for domestic hot water preparation was analyzed in different climates of Europe. Air-source heat pumps are widely used energy source for domestic applications with low operation costs. Their system SPF was found at level of 3.0 for domestic hot water preparation for medium latitudes in Europe. Investigations on the ground-source heat pump performance show their average SPF are close to air-source technology

People in wheelchairs, those who use crutches, elderly people, temporary disabled people and others – all these people belong to the group of people with reduced mobility. These passengers need special conditions for transportation. The paper is focused on special urban transportation services in selected Czech cities. It describes analysis of transportation possibilities, optimization methods and measures increasing efficiency of such services from the point of view of operators.

The paper brings the results of the student´s grant project competition. The goal of the presented project was the evaluation of the current operation on the railway line and proposals of means to increase its attractiveness
