    Effects of an aldose reductase inhibitor, SNK-860, on the histopathological changes of retinal tissues in a streptozotocin-induced diabetic rat model.

    In order to clarify the mechanism of retinal tissue damage in diabetes mellitus, the effects of the inhibition of aldose reductase on the pathologic changes in the retina of streptozotocin-induced diabetic (STZ-diabetic) rats were examined histologically and histochemically. The STZ-diabetic animals were maintained with and without peroral administration of an aldose reductase inhibitor, SNK-860, and their retinas were examined microscopically after 12 months. Several abnormal changes observed; folding and edema in the retina, loss of pericytes in the retinal capillary walls, and thickening of basement membranes in the retinal capillaries, were significantly inhibited by SNK-860. Some of these changes were similar to those that had been previously noted in diabetic and galactosemic rats. These data suggest that the enhanced polyol metabolism may be involved in the diabetic changes of the retina.</p

    Fabrication of Bi2212 Cross Whiskers Junction

    An intrinsic Josephson junction has been successfully fabricated without any micro-fabrication technique. Two Bi2212 whiskers were crossed with one another and joined by post-annealing. The inter-whisker electrical transport properties were measured by the four-probe method. The temperature dependence of resistance exhibited metallic behavior above TC. The resistance decreased to zero around 80K, corresponding to the superconducting transition. The current-voltage characteristics at 5K exhibited a small hysteresis and voltage jump, which can be explained by the intrinsic Josephson effect.Comment: 3 page PDF fil

    A Cross-Whiskers Junction as a Novel Fabrication Process for Intrinsic Josephson Junction

    A Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+d cross-whiskers junction has been successfully discovered as a novel intrinsic Josephson junction without using any technique for micro-fabrication. Two Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+d whisker crystals were placed crosswise on a MgO substrate and heated at 850C for 30 min. They were electrically connected at their c-planes. The measurement terminals were made at the four ends of the whiskers. The I-V characteristics of the cross-whiskers junction at 5K were found to show a clear multiple-branch structure with a spacing of approximately 15 mV that is a feature of the intrinsic Josephson junction. The critical current density Jc was estimated to be 1170 A/cm2. The branch-structure was strongly suppressed by the magnetic field above 1kOe.Comment: 4 pages, PDF fil

    Para el proyecto de inversión de una planta elaboradora de mermelada de frutas exóticas con fruta confitada se determinó que en principio este producto estará dirigido únicamente a la población que reside en Lima Metropolitana de los niveles socioeconómicos A y B que se encuentren en el rango de edad de 18-70 años. Esta demanda tendría un valor al último año del proyecto de 950 296 frascos de 350gr. La localización de planta tendrá lugar en el departamento de Lima, dado a que se encuentra cerca al mercado objetivo, y específicamente se situará en el distrito de Comas, debido al bajo costo de los terrenos. El tamaño de planta se delimitó por la demanda de mercado, dado a que el punto de equilibro estaba por debajo de este y considerando que los otros factores no eran limitantes debido a su creciente abastecimiento. En la ingeniería del proyecto, se determinaron el número de máquinas y el requerimiento de 10 operarios. Además, se determinó que la zona de producción requería un área de 337mts2 y que la planta iba contar con un total de 1 000 mts2. La organización administrativa, estará compuesta por 5 gerencias que controlarán las áreas de Producción, Logística, Comercial y Marketing, Finanzas y Recursos Humanos, quienes tendrán dentro de sus equipos Jefes de Área, Ejecutivos y analistas, a su vez, todas las gerencias estarán bajo la supervisión y control del Gerente General. Por último, la evaluación financiera demostró que el proyecto es viable debido a las buenas tasas de retorno que se obtienen de los flujos proyectados. Asimismo, bajo la estructura de capital y política de pagos y cobros de la empresa, se obtiene un buen manejo del Flujo dinerario de la empresa. Finally, the financial evaluation showed that the project is viable due to the good rates of return that are obtained from the discounted cashflows. Likewise, under the capital structure, payment and receivables policy of the company, a good management of the cash flow of the company is obtained.
