This study aims to describe the spirituality of the Jewish liturgy found in the celebration of the Eucharist and its impact on the involvement of Indonesian Catholics in socio-political life. This study emerged from the concern that the Indonesian people, who are actually rich in spiritual values, in fact behave badly in their socio-political life which is characterized by acts of corruption. This research raises the awareness of Catholics to be actively involved in socio-political life and color it with gospel values. This vocation will be realized if the Eucharist as the source and summit of Christian life really renews and encourages Catholics in Indonesia to take part in God's mission to save all people. So the Eucharist must draw from the spirituality contained in Jewish worship as the locus of a personal encounter with the God who saves. This study uses the qualitative method by conducting a literature study on the liturgy in the Jewish and Christian traditions and then connecting them to today's socio-political issues. This study has found that the spirituality of the Jewish liturgy as the root of the Christian liturgy is able to bring renewal in the lives of Catholics, especially their involvement in realizing justice, peace, and social welfare

This paper focuses on revealing the important role of catechists endowed with a spirit of nationalism in building the lives of grassroots Catholics. Its motivation is the fact that grassroots Catholics behave passively and apathetically in social life. They are more likely to actively build fellowship within (the Church) and neglect fellowship outwards (society) with other groups. Therefore, a nationalistic catechesis is needed, carried out by catechists. It must be an elaboration of Christian spirituality with the values of Pancasila. The Indonesian Catholic Church in its long history has always supported and practiced the values of Pancasila in its mission. The methodology used in writing this academic paper is library research. The author performed a critical reading of news items in HIDUP magazine, relating them to Church teaching or other books connected with the theme of this academic work. The conclusion of this paper is that grassroots Catholics “are present” together with other groups in order to actively participate in building this nation

Abstract The focus of this study is to analyze the services of medical personnel for Covid-19 patients in the framework of Emmanuel Levinas' responsibility ethics. The total service they have been providing is an ethical consequence of their encounter with the faces of Covid-19 patients as the Others. This could happen because the faces of Covid-19 patients show their nakedness as weak human beings. Moreover, this responsibility is also the impact of the awareness that the Others’ faces bear the imprint of the Infinite One. Here, Covid-19 patients have become means of the Infinite One giving commands to serve to medical personnel. This encounter in turn has succeeded in transcending medical personnel in their responsibility for Covid-19 patients. The methodology used in this study is a critical reading of news items in Kompas daily of April 26, 2020, and in Tempo magazine, edition of January 3, 2021, regarding the total service of medical personnel. These news items were then elaborated according to Emmanuel Levinas' philosophy of responsibility ethics. The findings of this study are that the responsibility of medical personnel for Covid-19 patients is an ethical consequence of their encounter with the patients’ faces. This study aims to explain the concept of Du'a Ngga'e as the ultimate reality of the Ende-Lio tribe, Flores about the Christian faith. The Ende-Lio people believe that before the Catholic Church proclaims their faith in God, they have known and worshiped “Allah” as the ultimate reality with the name Du'a Ngga'e. The people of the Ende-Lio tribe believe in Du'a Ngga'e as the origin of all things and the source of human life so that they must be respected and worshiped in the hanga (sacred space). Therefore, the Catholic Church must continue to pay attention to the noble values of local culture by building an equal horizontal dialogue without discrediting one another. The methodology used in this study is a qualitative method by conducting in-depth interviews and literature studies on the two variables. This study found two important things, namely: (1) In the concept of Du'a Ngga'e, the Ende-Lio tribal community already contains the truths of Christian faith in God Almighty. (2) The consequence is that the Church must respect the local culture as an entry point in proclaiming the Christian faith
