Wheat cultivar performance tests are conducted each year in Ark- ansas by the University of Arkansas System Division of Agricultureās Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station, Department of Crop, Soil and Environmental Sciences. The tests provide information to companies developing cultivars and marketing seed within the state and aid the Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service in formulating cultivar recommendations for small-grain producers. The tests are conducted at the Northeast Research and Extension Center at Keiser, the Vegetable Substation near Kibler, the Lon Mann Cotton Research Station near Marianna, the Newport Extension Center near Newport, the Rohwer Research Station near Rohwer, the Pine Tree Research Station near Colt, and the Hope Research and Extension Center. In addition, entries are evaluated in a stripe rust (Puccinia striiformis f.sp. tritici) inoculated nursery in Fayetteville and a Fusarium head blight (FHB) inoculated nursery in Newport and Fayetteville. Radiative transfer modelling for the NOMAD-UVIS instrument on the ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter mission
The NOMAD (Nadir and Occultation for MArs Discovery) instrument is a 3-channel (2 IR, 1 UV/Vis) spectrometer due to fly on the 2016 ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter mission. A radiative transfer model for Mars has been developed providing synthetic spectra to simulate observations of the UVIS channel in both solar occultation and nadir viewing geometries. This will allow for the characterization and mitigation of the influence of dust on retrievals of ozone abundance
Dynamics and Manipulation of Matter-Wave Solitons in Optical Superlattices
We analyze the existence and stability of bright, dark, and gap matter-wave
solitons in optical superlattices. Then, using these properties, we show that
(time-dependent) ``dynamical superlattices'' can be used to controllably place,
guide, and manipulate these solitons. In particular, we use numerical
experiments to displace solitons by turning on a secondary lattice structure,
transfer solitons from one location to another by shifting one superlattice
substructure relative to the other, and implement solitonic ``path-following'',
in which a matter wave follows the time-dependent lattice substructure into

Evolving UK policy on diversity in the armed services: multiculturalism and its discontents
Reflecting a generally multiculturalist rhetoric, UK policy in this area has hitherto focussed on enhancing the degree to which the armed services represent or reflect the ethnic makeup of the UK population. Ambitious targets have been set and some progress made in moving towards them. However, the dynamics of population change, together with the diverse preferences of ethno-religious minorities, have meant that the goal of representativeness has remained out of reach. At the same time, the armed services have continued to struggle with an ongoing recruitment problem while the volume of operational commitments has shown little sign of reducing
Matter-wave solitons with a periodic, piecewise-constant nonlinearity
Motivated by recent proposals of ``collisionally inhomogeneous''
Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs), which have a spatially modulated scattering
length, we study the existence and stability properties of bright and dark
matter-wave solitons of a BEC characterized by a periodic, piecewise-constant
scattering length. We use a ``stitching'' approach to analytically approximate
the pertinent solutions of the underlying nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation by
matching the wavefunction and its derivatives at the interfaces of the
nonlinearity coefficient. To accurately quantify the stability of bright and
dark solitons, we adapt general tools from the theory of perturbed Hamiltonian
systems. We show that solitons can only exist at the centers of the constant
regions of the piecewise-constant nonlinearity. We find both stable and
unstable configurations for bright solitons and show that all dark solitons are
unstable, with different instability mechanisms that depend on the soliton

90GHz and 150GHz observations of the Orion M42 region. A sub-millimeter to radio analysis
We have used the new 90GHz MUSTANG camera on the Robert C. Byrd Green Bank
Telescope (GBT) to map the bright Huygens region of the star-forming region M42
with a resolution of 9" and a sensitivity of 2.8mJy/beam. 90GHz is an
interesting transition frequency, as MUSTANG detects both the free-free
emission characteristic of the HII region created by the Trapezium stars,
normally seen at lower frequencies, and thermal dust emission from the
background OMC1 molecular cloud, normally mapped at higher frequencies. We also
present similar data from the 150GHz GISMO camera taken on the IRAM telescope.
This map has 15" resolution. By combining the MUSTANG data with 1.4, 8, and
21GHz radio data from the VLA and GBT, we derive a new estimate of the emission
measure (EM) averaged electron temperature of Te = 11376K by an original method
relating free-free emission intensities at optically thin and optically thick
frequencies. Combining ISO-LWS data with our data, we derive a new estimate of
the dust temperature and spectral emissivity index within the 80" ISO-LWS beam
toward OrionKL/BN, Td = 42K and Beta=1.3. We show that both Td and Beta
decrease when going from the HII region and excited OMC1 interface to the
denser UV shielded part of OMC1 (OrionKL/BN, Orion S). With a model consisting
of only free-free and thermal dust emission we are able to fit data taken at

A review of the disease and the results of a serosurvey of humans, cattle, goats and dogs
Sera from 494 humans, 180 cattle, 180 goats and 27 dogs, collected from different regions of Zimbabwe, were examined by indirect fluorescence for antibodies reactive with phase 11 Coxiella burnetii antigen. Overall, 37% of hwnans were reactive at a titre of 1140 or greater, and there was no evidence of age- or sex-related differences in seroprevalence. A review of clinical and epidemiological features of Q fever is presented in order to alert health workers to this infection, which apparently occurs frequently in Zimbabwe even though clinical cases have not been reported. In animals, serological evidence of Q fever infection was found in 39% of cattle, but only 15% of dogs and 10% of goats. These results suggest that cattle are important reservoirs of C. burnetii in Zimbabwe
