Large-scale deformed quasiparticle random-phase approximation calculations of the -ray strength function using the Gogny force
Valuable theoretical predictions of nuclear dipole excitations in the whole
chart are of great interest for different nuclear applications, including in
particular nuclear astrophysics. Here we present large-scale calculations of
the -ray strength function obtained in the framework of the
axially-symmetric deformed QRPA based on the finite-range Gogny force. This
approach is applied to even-even nuclei, the strength function for odd nuclei
being derived by interpolation. The convergence with respect to the adopted
number of harmonic oscillator shells and the cut-off energy introduced in the
2-quasiparticle (2-) excitation space is analyzed. The calculations
performed with two different Gogny interactions, namely D1S and D1M, are
compared. A systematic energy shift of the strength is found for D1M
relative to D1S, leading to a lower energy centroid and a smaller
energy-weighted sum rule for D1M. When comparing with experimental
photoabsorption data, the Gogny-QRPA predictions are found to overestimate the
giant dipole energy by typically 2 MeV. Despite the microscopic nature of
our self-consistent Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov plus QRPA calculation, some
phenomenological corrections need to be included to take into account the
effects beyond the standard 2- QRPA excitations and the coupling between
the single-particle and low-lying collective phonon degrees of freedom. For
this purpose, three prescriptions of folding procedure are considered and
adjusted to reproduce experimental photoabsorption data at best. All of them
are shown to lead to rather similar predictions of the strength, both at
low energies and for exotic neutron-rich nuclei. Predictions of -ray
strength functions and Maxwellian-averaged neutron capture rates for the whole
Sn isotopic chain are also discussed and compared with previous theoretical
calculations
Realization of the 1->3 optimal phase-covariant quantum cloning machine
The 1->3 quantum phase covariant cloning, which optimally clones qubits
belonging to the equatorial plane of the Bloch sphere, achieves the fidelity
Fcov(1->3)=0.833, larger than for the 1->3 universal cloning Funiv(1->3)=0.778.
We show how the 1->3 phase covariant cloning can be implemented by a smart
modification of the standard universal quantum machine by a projection of the
output states over the symmetric subspace. A complete experimental realization
of the protocol for polarization encoded qubits based on non-linear and linear
methods will be discussed.Comment: 12 pages, 2 figure
The Global and Local in Phillips Curve\ud
The debate over the Phillips Curve - as the relation between level of unemployment rate and inflation rate - in historical economics is shortly reviewed. By using the analysis in the Extreme Value Theory, i.e.: the rank order statistics the unemployment and inflation data over countries from various regions are observed. The calculations brought us to conjecture that there exists the general pattern that could lead from the relation between unemployment and inflation rate. However, the difference patterns as observed in the Phillips Curve might could be reflected from the range of values of the local variables of the incorporated model.\u
Effect of Plectranthus Amboinicus Extract on BUN and Creatinine Levels and Cellular Response Proinflammatory Factors TNF-α and IL-1β on Gout Arthritis Patients
The purpose of this research was to develop anti-cytokine-based treatment using extract of Plectranthus amboinicus applied to gout arthritis (GA) patients. The research was quasi experimental, with a pretest-posttest randomized control group design. The samples were GA patientsin the Outpatient Installation of Internal Medicine in General Hospital Haji,Surabaya. The sample was comprised of 30 respondents. The respondents were divided into a treatment group and a control group. The treatment group was asked to take medicine from the hospital, coupled with Plectranthus amboinicus extract capsules, for 7 days, during which time patients’ joint inflammation was observed. The control group was provided with only medication from the hospital, and their joint inflammation was likewise observed. Blood samples were taken before and after treatment, to measure the levels of blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine, as well as the concentrations of TNF-α and IL-1β. There was a decrease in BUN and creatinine levels in the control group, but it was not significant, decreasing by 3% and 8%, respectively. The treatment group also showed elevated levels of BUN and creatinine, which also was not significant at 3% and 7%, respectively. There was a decrease in the concentration of TNF-α in the control group by 9% and 22%. The concentration of IL-1β in the control group increased by 18%, whereas,in the treatment group,it decreased by3%; however, the decreases in bothgroups were not significant
