Global terrorism as a threat to the international order: The Islamic State case
reivindicaciones políticasThe goal of this article is to reflect on what kind of political violence is defined as “terrorism”
and what are the consequences of being defined that way. Considered that this designation
carries an assumption of barbarism, irrationality, criminality and craziness, to define an act
or an organization this way allows to carry out a depoliticization of this kind of violence and
to erase the political content behind it. This process is carried out with “terrorism” because
its political goals represent a threat to the “shape” of a society or to the international
system and, in general terms, to the current hegemonic order. The theoretical lines draw in
the first part of the article will eventually be applied to the case study of the Islamic State.
Considering the political goals the organization wants to achieve —the creation of a state/
caliphate through terror, the reconfiguration of the power relations, first in the area and
secondly at the international level, and a different global order– it can be understood why
this represents a threat to the international society of states that, in order to protect their
legitimacy and their status quo need to describe it as “terrorist” and, consequently, hide and
erase its political claim
The rejection of conflict in the western normative horizon and the consequent construction of Bashar al-Assad as a foe
A nuestro juicio,
veremos en nuestro estudio de casoThe aim of the following article is to analyse the discursive construction of the Syrian President
Bashar al-Assad made by the political leaders of the United States, France, and the United
Kingdom, in the context of the two first years of the current Syrian civil war. Our argument
contends that, through the words of these statesmen, Assad became a “foe” according to
the concept adopted by Carl Schmitt. In our view, this construction is explained by the fact
that certain Western countries move in a concrete and specific Western normative horizon,
where we can find the liberal idea of “rejection of conflict”, being this reason —in addition
to others— the one which helps us understand the whole process. For this reason, it will be
essential to analyse the power of discourse in creating realities and to underline how much
this has been useful in transforming Syrian President Assad in a foe, as it may be seen in
our case stud

Florentský dialekt - fonetické a morfologické aspekty
The thesis aims at offering an insight into phonetic and morphological aspects that are typical of the contemporary Florentine dialect. Individual aspects are listed and evaluated in different chapters, and their typology and application are described. A comparison with the Italian language in its officially recognised and standard version is also provided if the author considers it meaningful. The introductory part of the thesis also contains a discussion regarding the identity of Tuscan dialects and their relations to the Italian, as well as an account of the different types of dialects that occur in the territory of Tuscany. Consecutively, two large sections deal with phonetic and morphological aspects of the Florentine dialect.Cílem této práce je nabídnout vhled do fonetických a morfologických aspektů, které jsou typické pro aktuální florentský dialekt. Následují dva rozsáhlé oddíly ve kterých se pojednávají nejprve fonetické a pak morfologické aspekty florentského dialektu.Ústav románských studiíInstitute of Romance StudiesFaculty of ArtsFilozofická fakult
