The fate of non-trivial entanglement under gravitational collapse
We analyse the evolution of the entanglement of a non-trivial initial quantum
field state (which, for simplicity, has been taken to be a bipartite state made
out of vacuum and the first excited state) when it undergoes a gravitational
collapse. We carry out this analysis by generalising the tools developed to
study entanglement behaviour in stationary scenarios and making them suitable
to deal with dynamical spacetimes. We also discuss what kind of problems can be
tackled using the formalism spelled out here as well as single out future

ALICE Diffractive Detector Control System for RUN-II in the ALICE Experiment

commissioned of the Detector Control System (DCS) AD0 for the second phase of
the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The AD0 detector is installed in the ALICE

Fuzzy inference system for integrated VVC in isolated power systems
This paper presents a fuzzy inference system for integrated volt/var control
(VVC) in distribution substations. The purpose is go forward to automation
distribution applying conservation voltage reduction (CVR) in isolated power
systems where control capabilities are limited. A fuzzy controller has been
designed. Working as an on-line tool, it has been tested under real conditions
and it has managed the operation during a whole day in a distribution
substation. Within the limits of control capabilities of the system, the
controller maintained successfully an acceptable voltage profile, power factor
values over 0,98 and it has ostensibly improved the performance given by an
optimal power flow based automation system. CVR savings during the test are

CAR T cell therapy in B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia: Insights from mathematical models
Immunotherapies use components of the patient immune system to selectively
target cancer cells. The use of CAR T cells to treat B-cell malignancies
--leukaemias and lymphomas-- is one of the most successful examples, with many
patients experiencing long-lasting complete responses to this therapy. This
treatment works by extracting the patient's T cells and adding them the CAR
group, which enables them to recognize and target cells carrying the antigen
CD19+, that is expressed in these haematological tumors.
Here we put forward a mathematical model describing the time response of
leukaemias to the injection of CAR T-cells. The model accounts for mature and
progenitor B-cells, tumor cells, CAR T cells and side effects by incorporating
the main biological processes involved. The model explains the early
post-injection dynamics of the different compartments and the fact that the
number of CAR T cells injected does not critically affect the treatment
outcome. An explicit formula is found that provides the maximum CAR T cell
expansion in-vivo and the severity of side effects. Our mathematical model
captures other known features of the response to this immunotherapy. It also
predicts that CD19+ tumor relapses could be the result of the competition
between tumor and CAR T cells analogous to predator-prey dynamics. We discuss
this fact on the light of available evidences and the possibility of
controlling relapses by early re-challenging of the tumor with stored CAR T
cells
Respuesta del girasol (helianthus annus l.) a la aplicación de fertilización binaria (N + P), [N + K] y (P+ K) en la granja experimental del Sena - Santa Marta
El presente trabajo se llevó a cabo en la Granja del SENA - Agropecuario, en el Municipio de Santa Marta ubicado en la parte norte de Colombia. Geográficamente la zona está ubicada dentro de las siguientes coordenadas 70° 07' y 74' 12 longitud oeste con respecto al meridiano de Greenwich 11* 11' y 11' 15' latitud norte con respecto al Ecuador. La zona de estudio presenta un relieve propio con una altura de 7 m.s.n.m. y una precipitación promedia de SSO mm anuales, temperatura media de 32'C y una humedad relativa entre 70-727., está influenciado por vientos que soplan en dirección noreste. Los resultados del presente ensayo con respecto al Hibrido de Girasol NK-256 arrojaron lo siguiente: la mayor producción total del Híbrido fué de 2,85 ton/ha con el tratamiento 50 - 50 - 100 kg de ja de NPK/ha, la máxima tasa de extracción de aceite fué reportada por el tratamiento ocho (50 - 50 -100) con un promedio de 45,17. de aceite, en cuanto a parámetros inerfológicos no hubo diferencias significativas de orden primordial. Las aplicaciones de dos o más fertilizantes mayores traen como consecuencias aumentos considerables en la producción, lo cual son factiblemente reflejados de una manera positiva en la rentabilidad del cultivo. En general para esta zona aplicaciones del orden de 50 50 - 100 kg de jaiba para el Híbrido de Girasol son recomendables, ya que presentan rangos óptimos económicos de producción
Evidence of Non-Thermal Particles in Coronal Loops Heated Impulsively by Nanoflares
The physical processes causing energy exchange between the Sun's hot corona
and its cool lower atmosphere remain poorly understood. The chromosphere and
transition region (TR) form an interface region between the surface and the
corona that is highly sensitive to the coronal heating mechanism. High
resolution observations with the Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph (IRIS)
reveal rapid variability (about 20 to 60 seconds) of intensity and velocity on
small spatial scales at the footpoints of hot dynamic coronal loops. The
observations are consistent with numerical simulations of heating by beams of
non-thermal electrons, which are generated in small impulsive heating events
called "coronal nanoflares". The accelerated electrons deposit a sizable
fraction of their energy in the chromosphere and TR. Our analysis provides
tight constraints on the properties of such electron beams and new diagnostics
for their presence in the nonflaring corona.Comment: Published in Science on October 17:

Herramienta computacional para la documentación de pruebas de software enmarcado en actividades de investigación
El presente artículo describe el diseño de una herramienta computacional para la documentación de pruebas de software. La herramienta permite gestionar documentos como el plan maestro de pruebas; los planes de nivel, casos y procedimientos de prueba; reporte de anomalías y reporte de pruebas, que hacen parte de una adecuada documentación de pruebas de software. Utilizando diagrama de paquetes y casos de uso se muestra la funcionalidad disponible en la herramienta, la cual ha sido diseñada a partir de la norma IEEE 829
Growth factor-enriched autologous plasma improves wound healing after surgical debridement in odontogenic necrotizing fasciitis: a case report
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Odontogenic necrotizing fasciitis of the neck is a fulminant infection of odontogenic origin that quickly spreads along the fascial planes and results in necrosis of the affected tissues. It is usually polymicrobial, occurs frequently in immunocompromised patients, and has a high mortality rate.</p> <p>Case presentation</p> <p>A 69-year old Mexican male had a pain in the maxillar right-canine region and a swelling of the submental and submandibular regions. Our examination revealed local pain, tachycardia, hyperthermia (39°C), and the swelling of bilateral submental and submandibular regions, which also were erythematous, hyperthermic, crepitant, and with a positive Godet sign. Mobility and third-degree caries were seen in the right mandibular canine. Bacteriological cultures isolated <it>streptococcus pyogenes </it>and <it>staphylococcus aureus</it>. The histopathological diagnosis was odontogenic necrotizing fasciitis of the submental and submandibular regions. The initial treatment was surgical debridement and the administration of antibiotics. After cultures were negative, the surgical wound was treated with a growth factor-enriched autologous plasma eight times every third day until complete healing occurred.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>The treatment with a growth factor-enriched autologous plasma caused a rapid healing of an extensive surgical wound in a patient with odontogenic necrotizing fasciitis. The benefits were rapid tissue regeneration, an aesthetic and a functional scar, and the avoidance of further surgery and possible complications.</p
