    A QCD sum rule calculation of the X±(5568)Bs0π±X^\pm(5568) \to B_{s}^0\pi^\pm decay width

    To understand the nature of the X(5568)X(5568), recently observed in the mass spectrum of the Bs0π±B_{s}^0\pi^\pm system by the D0 Collaboration, we have investigated, in a previous work, a scalar tetraquark (diquak-antidiquark) structure for it, within the two-point QCD sum rules method. The result found for its mass agrees well with the experimental value. Encouraged by this finding we now extend our calculations to obtain the decay width of X(5568)X(5568) to Bs0π±B_{s}^0\pi^\pm using the three-point QCD sum rule. We obtain a value of (20.4\pm8.7)\MeV, which, on comparing with the experimental value of 21.9\pm6.4 (\mbox{sta})^{+5.0}_{-2.5}(\mbox{syst}) \MeV/c^2, reinforces the scalar four quark nature of X(5568)X(5568).Comment: Minor modifications made.     IMMUNEPOTENT CRP enhances cyclophosphamide-induced cytotoxicity through a caspase independent but ROS dependent mechanism in triple negative-breast cancer cells

    Background: Breast cancer (BC) is one of the leading causes of cancer death worldwide. Cyclophosphamide (CYP) remains a mainstay in cancer therapy mainly in the triple negative breast cancer subtype (TNBC) in spite of harmful adverse effects and cell death-resistances. To face this, combination of chemotherapies and immunotherapies has been proposed. IMMUNEPOTENT CRP (ICRP) is an immunotherapy that has cytotoxic effects in several cancer cells without affecting peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) and CD3+ cells, beside improving clinical parameters of chemotherapy-treated patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the mechanism of cytotoxicity induced by ICRP in combination with CYP (ICRP+CYP) in TNBC cells and their effect in healthy cells. Methods: For this purpose, human and murine breast adenocarcinoma, MDA-MB-231 and 4T1 cells, beside PBMC were treated for 24 hours with ICRP, CYP or ICRP+CYP in different combination ratios for the assessment of cell death. Flow cytometry was used to determine biochemical characteristics of cell death. Results: ANN/PI assays showed that ICRP+CYP induce cell cycle arrest in TNBC cells and potentiated cell death characterized by loss of mitochondrial membrane potential, reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and caspases activation. In addition, ICRP+CYP-cell death is ROS-dependent and caspases-independent in MDA-MB-231 and 4T1 cells. On the other hand, ICRP did not affect CYP-cytotoxicity in PBMC. Conclusions: For all the above, we can propose that the combination of ICRP with CYP is an effective combination therapy, promoting their use even in tumoral cells with defects on proteins implicated in the apoptotic pathway

    Radiative corrections to the Dalitz plot of K_{l3}^\pm decays

    We calculate the model-independent radiative corrections to the Dalitz plot of K_{l3}^\pm decays to order (\alpha/\pi)(q/M_1), where q is the momentum transfer and M_1 is the mass of the kaon. The final results are presented, first, with the triple integration over the variables of the bremsstrahlung photon ready to be performed numerically and, second, in an analytical form. These two forms are useful to crosscheck on one another and with other calculations. This paper is organized to make it accessible and reliable in the analysis of the Dalitz plot of precision experiments and is not compromised to fixing the form factors at predetermined values. It is assumed that the real photons are kinematically discriminated.     Design of a rib impactor equipment

    The human ribs must be analyzed as long and as curved bones, due to their physiology. For the development of an experimental equipment that simulate the application of loads, over the rib in the moment of a frontal collision in an automobile with seat belt, it was applied a methodology that constituted in the identification of needs and the variables which led the design of 3D model, from this it was used the technique of fused deposition modeling for the development of the equipment pieces. The supports that hold the rib ends were design with two and three degrees of freedom that allows the simulation of rib movement with the spine and the breastbone in the breathing. For the simulation of the seat belt, it was determined to applied two loads over the front part of the rib from the sagittal and lateral plane respectively, for this it was made a displacement through a lineal actuator with a speed of 4mm/s. The outcomes shown a design of an equipment able to obtain the load parameters required to generate fractures in rib specimens. The equipment may be used for the study of specimens with nearby geometries to the rib taken as a reference

    The exergy costs of electrical power, cooling, and waste heat from a hybrid system based on a solid oxide fuel cell and an absorption refrigeration system

    This paper applies the Exergy Cost Theory (ECT) to a hybrid system based on a 500 kWe solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) stack and on a vapor-absorption refrigeration (VAR) system. To achieve this, a model comprised of chemical, electrochemical, thermodynamic, and thermoeconomic equations is developed using the software, Engineering Equation Solver (EES). The model is validated against previous works. This approach enables the unit exergy costs (electricity, cooling, and residues) to be computed by a productive structure defined by components, resources, products, and residues. Most importantly, it allows us to know the contribution of the environment and of the residues to the unit exergy cost of the product of the components. Finally, the simulation of different scenarios makes it possible to analyze the impact of stack current density, fuel use, temperature across the stack, and anode gas recirculation on the unit exergy costs of electrical power, cooling, and residues

    Understanding the penetration dynamics of intruders in granular beds is relevant not only for fundamental Physics, but also for geophysical processes and construction on sediments or granular soils in areas potentially affected by earthquakes. While the penetration of intruders in two dimensional (2D) laboratory granular beds can be followed using video recording, it is useless in three dimensional (3D) beds of non-transparent materials such as common sand. Here we propose a method to quantify the sink dynamics of an intruder into laterally shaken granular beds based on the temporal correlations between the signals from a reference accelerometer fixed to the shaken granular bed, and a probe accelerometer deployed inside the intruder. Due to its analogy with the working principle of a lock in amplifier, we call this technique Lock in accelerometry (LIA).     Alternative symplectic structures for SO(3,1) and SO(4) four-dimensional BF theories

    The most general action, quadratic in the B fields as well as in the curvature F, having SO(3,1) or SO(4) as the internal gauge group for a four-dimensional BF theory is presented and its symplectic geometry is displayed. It is shown that the space of solutions to the equations of motion for the BF theory can be endowed with symplectic structures alternative to the usual one. The analysis also includes topological terms and cosmological constant. The implications of this fact for gravity are briefly discussed.Comment: 13 pages, LaTeX file, no figure
