    Cosmological constraints from HSC Y1 lensing convergence PDF

    We utilize the probability distribution function (PDF) of normalized convergence maps reconstructed from the Subaru Hyper Suprime-Cam (HSC) Y1 shear catalogue, in combination with the power spectrum, to measure the matter clustering amplitude S8=σ8Ωm/0.3S_8=\sigma_8\sqrt{\Omega_m/0.3}. The large-scale structure's statistical properties are incompletely described by the traditional two-point statistics, motivating our investigation of the PDF -- a complementary higher-order statistic. By defining the PDF over the standard deviation-normalized convergence map we are able to isolate the non-Gaussian information. We use tailored simulations to compress the data vector and construct a likelihood approximation. We mitigate the impact of survey and astrophysical systematics with cuts on smoothing scales, redshift bins, and data vectors. We find S8=0.8600.109+0.066S_8=0.860^{+0.066}_{-0.109} from the PDF alone and S8=0.7980.042+0.029S_8=0.798^{+0.029}_{-0.042} from the combination of PDF and power spectrum (68% CL).     Cosmology from weak lensing peaks and minima with Subaru Hyper Suprime-Cam survey first-year data

    We present cosmological constraints derived from peak counts, minimum counts, and the angular power spectrum of the Subaru Hyper Suprime-Cam first-year (HSC Y1) weak lensing shear catalog. Weak lensing peak and minimum counts contain non-Gaussian information and hence are complementary to the conventional two-point statistics in constraining cosmology. In this work, we forward-model the three summary statistics and their dependence on cosmology, using a suite of NN-body simulations tailored to the HSC Y1 data. We investigate systematic and astrophysical effects including intrinsic alignments, baryon feedback, multiplicative bias, and photometric redshift uncertainties. We mitigate the impact of these systematics by applying cuts on angular scales, smoothing scales, statistic bins, and tomographic redshift bins. By combining peaks, minima, and the power spectrum, assuming a flat-Λ\LambdaCDM model, we obtain S8σ8Ωm/0.3=0.8100.026+0.022S_{8} \equiv \sigma_8\sqrt{\Omega_m/0.3}= 0.810^{+0.022}_{-0.026}, a 35\% tighter constraint than that obtained from the angular power spectrum alone. Our results are in agreement with other studies using HSC weak lensing shear data, as well as with Planck 2018 cosmology and recent CMB lensing constraints from the Atacama Cosmology Telescope and the South Pole Telescope

    CARACTERÍSTICAS DE GESTANTES ATENDIDAS EM CONSULTA DE ENFERMAGEM AMBULATORIAL DE PRÉ-NATAL: COMPARAÇÃO DE QUATRO DÉCADAS

    O objetivo do trabalho foi identificar as características das gestantes atendidas em consulta de enfermagem no pré-natal realizado por enfermeira obstétrica em consulta ambulatorial, e compará-las, no período de 1972 a 2009. Os dados sociodemográficos e obstétricos foram coletados das fichas de gestantes, preenchidas durante a consulta deenfermagem. Um total de 1245 fichas foi analisado, sendo 208 (16,7%) da década de 1970, 323 (25,9%) de 1980, 329 (26,4%) de 1990 e 385 (30,0%) de 2000. Encontrou-se diferença significativa entre as décadas anteriores com a de 2000, em relação ao número maior de: gestações de alto risco, número de consultas de enfermagem e de ecografiasrealizadas durante o pré-natal. Observa-se que as características das gestantes modificaram-se, ao longo do tempo, bem como o atendimento realizado por enfermeira obstétrica em consulta de enfermagem ambulatorial, mantendose vinculado às demandas das usuárias e às determinações legais

    AbstractHydrothiolation of symmetrical and unsymmetrical buta-1,3-diynes with sodium organylthiolate anions in reflux, generated in situ by reacting C4H9SH with NaOH, afforded (Z)-organylthioenynes in low to good yields (25–80%). By using tetrabutylammonium hydroxide (TBAOH) as base instead of NaOH, the hydrothiolation of buta-1,3-diynes was more rapid and efficient, providing (Z)-organylthioenynes in good to excellent yields (70–95%)

    Concurrent breast stroma sarcoma and breast carcinoma: a case report

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Introduction</p> <p>Breast cancer is one of the most important health problems in the world and affects a great number of women over the entire globe. This group of tumors rarely presents as bilateral disease and, when it does happen, normally occurs within the same histological type. We report a rare case of concurrent bilateral breast cancer with two different histology types, a breast carcinoma and a breast sarcoma, in a 42-year-old woman referred to our hospital.</p> <p>Case presentation</p> <p>A 42-year-old Caucasian woman admitted to our institute in August 1999, presented with a nodule in the left breast of 3.0 × 2.5 cm, and, in the right breast, one of 1.0 cm, suspected of malignancy and with a clinically negative armpit. Biopsies had revealed invasive mammary carcinoma (right breast) and sarcoma (left breast). She was submitted to bilateral modified radical mastectomy. A histological study showed an invasive mammary carcinoma degree II lobular pleomorphic type with invasion of seven of the 19 excised axillary nodes in the right breast and, in the left breast, a sarcoma of the mammary stroma, for which the immunohistochemistry study was negative for epithelial biomarkers and positive for vimentin. Later, she was submitted for chemotherapy (six cycles of 75 mg/m<sup>2 </sup>5-fluorouracil, epirubicin and cyclophosphamide) followed by radiotherapy of the thoracic wall and axillary nodes on the left. Hormone receptors were positive in the tumor of the right breast, and tamoxifen, 20 mg, was prescribed on a daily basis (five years) followed by letrozole, 2.5 mg, also daily (five years). She presented no sign of negative evolution in the last consultation.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>The risk of development of bilateral breast cancer is about 1% each year within a similar histological type, but it is higher in tumors with lobular histology. In this case, the patient presented, simultaneously, two histologically distinct tumors, thus evidencing a rare situation.</p

    Meglumine antimoniate and miltefosine combined with allopurinol sustain pro-inflammatory immune environments during canine leishmaniosis treatment

    Research Areas: Veterinary SciencesCanine leishmaniosis (CanL) caused by Leishmania infantum is a zoonotic disease of global concern. Antileishmanial drug therapies commonly used to treat sick dogs improve their clinical condition, although when discontinued relapses can occur. Thus, the current study aims to evaluate the effect of CanL treatments in peripheral blood, lymph node, and bone marrow cytokine profile associated with clinical recovery. Two groups of six dogs diagnosed with CanL were treated with miltefosine combined with allopurinol and meglumine antimoniate combined with allopurinol (MT+A and MG+A), respectively. At diagnosis and after treatment, during a 3-month follow-up, clinical signs, hematological and biochemical parameters, urinalysis results and antileishmanial antibody titers were registered. Furthermore, peripheral blood, popliteal lymph node, and bone marrow samples were collected to assess the gene expression of IL-2, IL-4, IL-5, IL-10, IL-12, TNF-alpha, TGF-beta, and IFN-gamma by qPCR. In parallel, were also evaluated samples obtained from five healthy dogs. Both treatment protocols promoted the remission of clinical signs as well as normalization of hematological and biochemical parameters and urinalysis values. Antileishmanial antibodies returned to non-significant titers in all dogs. Sick dogs showed a generalized upregulation of IFN-gamma and downregulation of IL-2, IL-4, and TGF-beta, while gene expression of IL-12, TNF-alpha, IL-5, and IL-10 varied between groups and according to evaluated tissue. A trend to the normalization of cytokine gene expression was induced by both miltefosine and meglumine antimoniate combined therapies. However, IFN-gamma gene expression was still up-regulated in the three evaluated tissues. Furthermore, the effect of treatment in the gene expression of cytokines that were not significantly changed by infection, indicates that miltefosine and meglumine antimoniate combined therapy directly affects cytokine generation. Both combined therapies are effective in CanL treatment, leading to sustained pro-inflammatory immune environments that can compromise parasite survival and favor dogs' clinical cure. In the current study, anti-inflammatory and regulatory cytokines do not seem to play a prominent role in CanL or during clinical recovery.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
