    PMRI and Metacognitive Scaffolding

    Get PDF
    PMRI (Pendidikan Matematika Realistik Indonesia) has been implemented in some Primary Schools in Indonesia since 2001. Sanata Dharma University (USD) in Yogyakarta is one of the four universities which founded the PMRI Movement. Sanata Dharma University tries to keep its commitment to apply and develop PMRI as one alternative to improve the quality of mathematics education in Indonesia. In the process of development, P4MRI in USD also pays attention to the results of research in various disciplines, e.g. cognitive psychology, cognitive science and neuro science. One of the weakness of mathematics teaching and learning in Indonesia is the teacher centre approach. It is used in practice by most of teachers in the classroom. Their paradigm is related to teaching paradigm. In PMRI we use the learning paradigm in practicing the idea of Freudenthal that mathematics is human activities and pupils learn mathematics based on their experiences. We ask teachers to help students improving their understanding of mathematics by familiarizing them to pose questions to themselves: what, how and why. In solving a problem, the teacher lets them freely to find out their strategy and discuss it in their small group. The teacher helps them by giving some comments on their planning of solution or some suggestions, e.g. “ do some exploration, make a table or a figure, or specialize!” Key words: PMRI, Metacognition, Metacognitive Scaffoldin

    Shirt sablon activities are the most exciting activity for the moment, given that the shirt will always be sought and bought by the community. Shirt templates are techniques of printing pictures, photos, cartoons, typography and various other design results to the shirt surface. Which means the core of the next shirt making besides thinking about the material is the design that will be sued. This activity aims to improve skills and capabilities in terms of increasing the economic value of a pure shirt into a shirt that has a sale value, economically of course this skill can be a sufficient supply to plunge into an industry if later Master and Students of SMPS PTPN 4 Dolok Ilir want to plung into the world of creative industry confectionery and templates. The result achieved is the independence of SMPS PTPN 4 Dolok Ilir in the enterprise world both at school and in the community

    Analysis of the Effect of Population and Average Net Wage/Salary on the Number of Poverty in Medan Using Linear Regression Method

    Get PDF
    In this study, the total population along with the average net salary was selected for poverty.  The data information used in this study is data derived from agencies. In obtaining the results of the analysis on the influence of variables, multiple linear regression was used. The interpretation of this study shows that there is a significant influence between population and average net salary on poverty. The larger the population and the smaller the average net wage/salary, the higher the poverty rate. It is hoped that this research will be able to show a framework of what factors influence poverty so that it can be used as a reference to overcome the problem of poverty in Indonesia, especially the city of Medan. This study does not use manual calculations, and aims to analyze the relationship between population (M1) and average wage / net salary (M2) with the amount of poverty (D). The equation D is 221105.0 - 0.0147 M1 + 0.0147 M2, with the value of the influence of M1 and M2 on D amounting to 0.341

    Enhanced dynamic range in a directly modulated analog photonic link

    Get PDF
    We demonstrate a directly modulated analog photonic link (APL) capable of a high multioctave spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR). The APL consists of a pair of laser diodes, modulated in a push–pull manner, and a balanced photodetector aiming at suppressing the second-order intermodulation distortion (IMD2). In a wide frequency range of 600 MHz (2.60–3.20 GHz), an IMD2 suppression as high as 23 dB and an improvement of 5–18 dB of the second-order SFDR, relative to a conventional single arm photonic link, have been achieved. In this frequency range, the APL SFDR is in excess of 116 dB.Hz2/3}

    We demonstrate an analog photonic link with a high multioctave spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) using a push-pull modulation technique of laser diodes combined with a balanced detection scheme. SFDR enhancements ranging from 5 dB to 18 dB, relative to the case of a single arm link, have been obtained in a frequency range of 2.5 GHz to 3.2 GHz

    A Novel Modulation Scheme for Noise Reduction in Analog Fiber Optic Links

    Get PDF
    A novel balanced modulation and detection scheme for analog fiber optic links is proposed to overcome the limitations in signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and dynamic range (DR). In this scheme, the modulating signal is split into positive and negative halves and applied to a pair of laser diodes. Both arms of the link will convey a half-wave rectified version of the signal. At the receiving end the signal is restored via differential detection. Calculation results show that significant improvement in link SNR together with suppression of second-order distortions are achieved

    Push-pull modulated analog photonic link with enhanced sfdr

    Get PDF
    We demonstrate an analog photonic link (APL) with a high multioctave spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) of 120 dB.Hz2/3 at the frequency of 2.50 GHz. The APL consists of a pair of distributed-feedback laser diodes (DFB LDs), modulated in a push-pull manner, and a balanced photodetector aiming at suppressing the second-order intermodulation distortion (IMD2). At the frequency of 2.50 GHz, an IMD2 suppression of 40 dB, relative to the case of a single arm APL with one laser, is obtained. In a wide frequency range of 600 MHz (2.60 to 3.20 GHz), an improvement of 5 to 18 dB of the second-order SFDR relative to the single arm APL has been achieved.\ud \u

    A photonic chip based frequency discriminator for a high performance microwave photonic link

    Get PDF
    We report a high performance phase modulation direct detection microwave photonic link employing a photonic chip as a frequency discriminator. The photonic chip consists of five optical ring resonators (ORRs) which are fully programmable using thermo-optical tuning. In this discriminator a drop-port response of an ORR is cascaded with a through response of another ORR to yield a linear phase modulation (PM) to intensity modulation (IM) conversion. The balanced photonic link employing the PM to IM conversion exhibits high second-order and third-order input intercept points of + 46 dBm and + 36 dBm, respectively, which are simultaneously achieved at one bias point.\ud \u
