About the Translation of Expressions with Metaphoric Meaning in Keller’s Short Story "A Village Romeo and Juliet" in Macedonian Language

This research paper focuses on expressions with metaphoric meaning and it critically reviews the translation procedures applied when translating these expressions from German into Macedonian language. The analysis is performed on isolated examples of expressions with metaphoric meaning, given together with their immediate context. The corpus of research is the short story "Romeo und Julia auf dem Dorfe" in German language (mk. Ромео и Јулија на село") by Gottfried Keller, translated into Macedonian language by Emina Avdic

German lexical variations and their Macedonian functional equivalents

Subject of this paper are the lexical variations considered in terms of time (from diachronic aspect), region (from diatopic aspect), socio-cultural layers in the community (from diastratic aspect) and use of language (from diaphasic aspekt). Because they are wide fileds, for each field is choosen one representativ sub-category to be subject of further analyse, such as: archaisms, dialect words, bawdy expressions and Latin phrases. The analyse is made on German examples, followed by thier appropriate Macedonian functional equivalents

Притоа егземпларно и аналитички се разработува синтаксичкатаповеќезначност од тип 1, тип 2 и тип 3, а за поголема прегледност релациите на реченичнитечленови од секој тип се прикажуваат со помош на депендентен и конституентен дијаграм. Освентоа се фрла светло и на некои нетипични манифестации на овој феномен и тие се поткрепуваатсо примери од германскиот јазик

Equivalence in Translation through German, French and Macedonian Examples

This paper aims towards a review of the history of determining and debating about the term equivalence in the translation studies and by giving examples from German, French and Macedonian, it tries to apply the theoretical statements into practicing translation. The notation equivalence has caused heated controversy in the translation theory as well as many different analyzes of its concept, especially of its definition, relevance and applicability within the field of translation studies. Until recently, equivalence has been studied in relation with the translation process by using different approaches, as results have been provided ideas for further studies on this topic. Despite the evident discrepancies in the views of various theorists, however, this term is being continuously used as most suitable in the most translation literature. For enabling the communication, it is necessary for a communication equivalence to be reached, which means that the target language text must have the same communicative value that the original text has for its original recipient. Not always is possible a total translation equivalence, but sometimes there is existence of incomplete (partial) equivalence or even nonexistence of equivalence

About the translation of the Turkish words from Macedonian into German language as well as the Latin and French words from German into Macedonian language – a parallel

The varieties of diachronic aspect occur in a language under the influence of external circumstances and they are the evidence of how the respective language users have lived and spoken in the past. Due to the fact that they do not correspond to the linguistic norms, they are often difficult to translate, so the translators use various methods in order to avoid possible wrong understanding or incorrect transfer into the target language. This paper researches some diachronic varieties in the German and the Macedonian vocabulary, compared to the translations of these phenomena into Macedonian and German language, respectively. The analysis is performed on selected literary texts, in parallel with their translations in the other respective language. The focus is on the Turkish words in the Macedonian language and the Latin and French words in the German language

A Comparative Review of the False Friends (Macedonian-Fench and Macedonian

This paper aims to analyze the phenomenon of false friends in Macedonian and respectivly in French and German language. The object of the analysis are non-ambigous and polysemic terms that have false friend in the above mentionned languages. We analyze also an opposite linguistic phenomenon, that of true friends, so that the work finshes with two paralel tables presenting a macedonian term and its false friend, followed by the adequat equivalent in both French and German

ЗА ПРЕВОДОТ НА НЕКОИ СПЕЦИФИЧНИ КУЛТУРНИ ФЕНОМЕНИ ОД ГЕРМАНСКИ НА МАКЕДОНСКИ ЈАЗИК ВО ШНИЦЛЕРОВАТА НОВЕЛА „ПОРУЧНИКОТ ГУСТЛ“

This article offers an analysis from a translational perspective of some specific cultural phenomena present in literature. The focus is placed on the novella Lieutenant Gustl by Arthur Schnitzler, translated into Macedonian by Marina Nishliska. The paper begins with the term specific cultural phenomenon, and then follows a critical review of methods used in the novel for overcoming problems when translating the specific cultural phenomenon. Lexemes of material culture, differences in the usage of capital letters and some communication phenomena (such as direct addressing, usage of vocative and vulgarisms as lexical variations from diastratic aspect) are taken in for analysis. Where translation does not meet the criteria of quality, better solutions are offered for translating such phenomena.Предмет на оваа научна статија е анализата на специфичните културни феномени присутни во книжевните дела од транслатолошки аспект.
