The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between restorativeness, work engagement and organizational cynicism. A positive effect of restorativeness on work engagement and a negative effect on organizational cynicism are hypothesized. A self-report questionnaire was filled out by 247 employees. Results of hierarchical linear regression supported a positive effect of restorativeness in reducing both organizational cynicism and in fostering work engagement. The original contribution of this research is the analysis of the multivariate relationship between restorativeness (which is a relevant construct in environmental psychology) and relevant constructs deriving from the work and organizational psychology field (i.e., work engagement and cynicism in the workplace

About 3 billion people in the world and one million in Argentina use biomass as a cooking fuel. Its combustion is harmful to people’s health and to the environment. Institutional programs are implemented to provide vulnerable people with safe and efficient cooking systems. This paper seeks to present a series of experiences which could represent a model to formulate public policies. The experiencies have been identified through international literature review. The goals, strategies and scope of international, regional and national programs seeking to provide efficient cooking systems have been analysed. These programs also contribute to people’s well-being, to socio-economic development and to climate change mitigation.Fil: Ise, Alejandra. Abstract. The scenario defined by current Web architectures and paradigms (such as Cloud Computing), poses challenges and opportunities to users. On the one hand, they have to manage huge amounts of digital resources handled by different applications in spite of their possibly related content; on the other hand, they are enabled to share knowledge and participate to content creation. The interaction of these two aspects provided a great impulse to collaborative resource management: in this paper we present T++, an environment that ex-ploits semantic knowledge about digital resources in order to face these chal-lenges, by providing an integrated and smart management of heterogeneous in-formation objects

    Write better, publish better

There is evidence that having more readable abstracts and introductions help authors get cited. I show that, in economics, there is also an effect of readability on the probability of publishing in a Top 5 journal (and in a higher-ranked journal in general). I compute readability measures for a set of working papers and examine the journals in which they get published. My results suggest that previous estimates of the effect on citations are downward biased, as higher-ranked journals are more widely read and cited

Nefrolitotomía percutánea en pacientes con trastornos de la coagulación: reporte de caso

Objective To report a case of percutaneous nephrolithotomy in patients with protein C and S deficiency. Introduction Patients with protein C and S deficiency have a high risk of thromboembolic events reporting rates of 6% and 8.4%, respectively. Case Report A 43-year-old female patient with a history of protein C and S deficiency with chronic warfarin anticoagulation for deep venous thrombosis (DVT). CT scan with full right staghorn calculi. Enoxaparin was administered bridge therapy. She was taken to right percutaneous nephrolithotomy, access was through the lower calyx. Because it was not possible to access the calculus of the middle and upper calyx it was necessary to perform a second puncture in the upper calyx, leaving the patient free of calculus. Full anticoagulation was resumed at 12 hours postoperatively without associated bleeding. Discussion Patients with protein C and S deficits are at high risk for thromboembolic events. Kefer et al. conducted a study evaluating the efficacy of bridge therapy in patients on NLP, finding that warfarin anticoagulation can be discontinued 5 days earlier and restarted 5 days after the surgical procedure without the need for enoxaparin bridging therapy. Results The protein C and S deficiency corresponds to an entity, with a very low prevalence and conditions the requirement of oral anticoagulants indefinitely. It was possible to perform a surgical procedure without hemorrhagic or thromboembolic complications. Copyright © 2019, Sociedad Colombiana de Urología

Metastasis to parotid gland from non Head and Neck tumors

Most primary tumors spreading metastasis to the parotid gland are usually located in the head and neck region, nonetheless, rarely, parotid gland can also be the target of metastatic localization site of distant primary tumors. The purpose of this study was to describe a clinical series of metastasis to the parotid gland from distant primary tumors (non Head & Neck)

A new approach to semi-leptonic tags in BB-meson semi-invisible decays

Kinematic variables designed for pairwise decays to partly undetected final states -- a prominent example being MT2M_{T2} and its Lorentz-invariant version M2M_2 -- have been extensively deployed in high-pTp_T collider searches. A new range of potential applications at flavour facilities -- where BB mesons or τ\tau leptons are also pairwise produced -- was recently proposed. One general challenge in these decays arises if both the signal parent and the 'other' parent, often used as a tag, decay semi-invisibly. In such cases, which notably include semi-leptonic tags, signal identification is generally hindered by the ensuing lack of knowledge of the signal-parent boost. M2M_2 helps precisely to overcome this challenge, and allows to leverage the otherwise superior efficiency of semi-leptonic decays. Our strategy rests on two novel constraints that can be imposed on M2M_2. The first is that of the known mass of the decaying-parent mass squared which, in connection with other constraints, gives rise to M2sBM_{2sB}. The second is on the flight direction of the signal parent, often well reconstructed at facilities with high vertexing capabilities such as Belle II and LHCb. This constraint gives rise to the M2VM_{2V} variable, that can be used even at facilities where the collision energy is not known. We test these ideas in a decay of great current interest in the context of the persistent discrepancies in BB decays, namely BKτμB \to K \tau \mu. We find that a bare-bones application of M2sBM_{2sB} leads, alone, to an improvement that is already halfway between the current approach and the "truth-level" semi-leptonic case. Ceteris paribus -- in particular statistics -- our approach thus makes semi-leptonic tags competitive with fully reconstructed hadronic tags.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figure
