Dissertação de mestrado em Engineering Project ManagementThe business world is more competitive than ever, and companies must adapt to a very fast passed consumer behaviour. Small and medium companies must be quick on their feet and have the ability to rapidly answer to the shifts in trends and products. In order to do so, businesses have shifted from Traditional project management to an Agile project management. Even though Agile project management has become very trendy, implementing an Agile framework requires work and an adaption period. Living Map adopted an Agile framework – Scrum – one year ago, but because they changed their Scrum Master, the process gradually broke and became problematic. This research was proposed by the company, to re-implement Scrum and analyse the changes on the performance indicators of the Software Development teams. The main goal was to collect data after each Sprint completion and compare it to old data collected previously by the researcher whilst being an intern. The first step was to re-define and re-implement Scrum within the two development teams. The researcher acted as the Scrum Master of both teams in order to be closer to them. This dissertation describes the re-implementation of Scrum, the adaptive measurements that were made during a 5-iteration cycle and the changes on the performance indicators that originated from it. In general, not only did every performance indicators had a significant growth but also, the understanding of Scrum increased, and the overall satisfaction of the Teams also improved.O mundo de negócios tem-se tornado mais competitivo do que nunca.

Experts in infection control are often asked about issues related to the use of scrubs and clean air suits in the operating room (OR). So, what are clean air suits and scrub suits? This article seeks to highlight the most relevant information of this products and try to define the benefits of using them for preventing airborne disposal from the surgical staff, reducing the risk of infection. No scientific data support the practice of using scrub suits as a means for preventing transmission of infection, but on the other side we have a vast amount of studies regarding the effectiveness of clean air suits. However this won´t invalidate the use of scrub suits, just validating that this type of studies has to be done for scrubs suits

Therefore, this study had the goal to verify the acceptance of an odour brand by children’s and based on this data´s, conceive an odour brand for this specific brand. The author’s analysed the children´s perception through inquiries to discover the adequate scent to apply on the children´s garment, having in consideration the concept of the brand. The results were based on inquiries realised in store environment. The survey was conducted in two phases, with two groups of children with ages between 7 and 10 years and another group from 11 to 14 years. These groups comprised children of both genders. The results of this research show that the garments and advertising material finished with the selected odours in the first part of this study has positive acceptation by the target audience. We also determine an odour brand for the studied brand and it was found that they have a specific odour that differentiates them from other clothing brands. Finally, we built a R & D procedure for the creation of an odour brand, applicable to any market segment that pretend to use a personalised odour

The Role of Educational Technology in Caregiving

Huge demographic and socio-economic changes are part of the experience of present societies. One consequence is the aging of the population and increasingly more people without the capacity for self-care. The provision of intergenerational care, namely caring for the older individuals, is a focus of attention for health professionals, but is also part of the political and social agenda. There is a need to regulate, support, and facilitate the daily life of families who have a dependent aged member. In contemporary societies, the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) is an important driver of innovation, responsible for a large transformation of living standards and new social behaviors. Within the scope of the provision of informal care, ICT can provide a great support, representing a primordial tool for updating the organizations in order to improve their efficiency, incorporating and making available services, and anticipating needs. Thus, the development of equipment, electronic applications, and websites for the elderly or their family caregivers should be conceptualized and customized to the profile of these users. A major challenge faced by healthcare institutions is to focus their services by organizing them around citizens’ needs

Optimal solution of a diffusion equation with a discrete source term

In this paper we study the numerical behavior of a diffusion equation with a discrete control source term. The equation is discretized in space by finite differences and in time by an implicit scheme. The control variables are calculated in order to minimize an objective function, taking into account some restrictions. We define two strategies to obtain the optimal solution and present some numerical results in a context of a model that describes the oxygen concentration in a single chamber microbial fuel cell

Porto. Festa. Manjerico. On 23rd june´s evening, sardines, “caldo verde”, pork fibres, roasted peppers, bread, and much, much wine. The lamb jumps out of St John´s shoulders and is immolated with baked potatoes and rice. But in other nourishments, which in this night are not for eating, also lies the symbolism of St. John´s festivities: lemon balm, basil and leek, main actors of St. John´s night, protect and transmit fraternal messages. Symbolic, like fountain´s water and the fire of bonfires and balloons that light up the sky of this endless night. It is the actual experience of St. John in OPorto the focus of this study, experienced in a city tour in its longest night, identifying through this journey what most unique the city manifests and offers, the social and culinary behaviours this festivity holds and its symbology. Keywords: Saint John.
